  1. So this is what I came up with. You'll have to wait a bit due to GPU availability seemingly being much more scarce in France compared to the rest of the world. Since unless you want to be paying the same price EVGA is selling their 3070s to consumers for a 3060 Ti it's better to wait. Hence why it's also over budget mainly due to the monitor. Since you'd likely be able to save up the €300 while waiting for availability. I also downgraded from a PCIE Gen 4 SSD to a Gen 3(it's just slower but most things can't make use of that speed) but I was able to use that saved money to upgrade the 2TB HDD to a 4TB and a small motherboard upgrade to ATX for expanded upgradability. I went with 3200 CL16 since though it is slower the timings are tighter and those will make them perform very similar to your 3600 CL18 kit but for less. Finally for the monitor I downgraded it to 1080P UW but you get 2 things in return 1. It's 144 HZ vs 100 and 2. Instead of a VA Panel you get IPS which IMO since you're going to be doing video and photo editing is more important due to the better color accuracy of the panel. P.S. Your PC Part Picker list didn't include the cost of your 3060 Ti which would of put you over budget as well [PCPartPicker Part List](https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/8DpdH2) Type|Item|Price :----|:----|:---- **CPU** | [AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 3.4 GHz 8-Core Processor](https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/product/JmhFf7/amd-ryzen-7-5700x-34-ghz-8-core-processor-100-100000926wof) | €318.05 @ Amazon France **CPU Cooler** | [be quiet! 2. 2 quick questions. Do you need PCIE Gen4 for the SSD? What CPU cooler are you using on your current setup and would you be willing to transfer it to your new system if it's compatible?
  3. As the title says I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a good monitor desk arm that would be able to hold both my 34" UW and a 24" standard 16:9 display with that one likely being in portrait. If it has the possibility of adding a third monitor that would be nice but not needed as I'm not certain if I'll be upgrading to 3 monitors at some point. Price Range - Not set lucking for a good bang for the buck option if possible
  4. Above I have created a fairly bad but hopefully doable version of Sadinus in Pixel Art that I want to see if we can get onto r/Place. Would you all be willing to join me in doing this? Coordinates - (1167-1247,1363-1449) The checkboard P.S. If someone could help me make the nose and skin look better that would be great. I'm not an artist and I didn't have a full list of Hexcodes on what r/Place allows so namely the skin would likely have to be changed,
  5. So I was looking at upgrading my Plex server that I plan on overtime using for other things like running a minecraft server for friends, etc. Currently I'm deciding between 2 CPUs a the 10100F and the 1700x. Since the 10100F's single core performance would mop the floor with the 1700X but I can also see the 1700X allowing me to run more things at once due to it's additional cores. Then again with the 10100F I would then be able to use MakeMKV straight on the NAS for 4K Blu-rays which my main system can't do currently due to being an AMD machine plus if I'm able to find a non-F sku for a good price wouldn't I be able to use the iGPU to help my poor old GT 1030 with Encoding/Decoding when needed? What would be better for my use case? Just in case someone asks I'm currently looking at around $200 for CPU+Mobo with the Mobo being ATX with at least 6 Sata ports for easy storage increases whether via the onboard sata or PCIE cards
  6. Sorry for the late response but yes I would be using the SSD as a Cache for the Plex Library. With me currently having approximately 4TBs worth of Shows + Movies with it consisting of 926 files. With each of course having their own Metadata and Thumbnails for each. I plan on expanding the storage of this system over time hence why I thought FreeNAS(now TrueNAS) would be the better choice. So even if I plan on expanding the amount of drives I have later do you believe that Ubuntu or some other Linux Distro would be a better option?
  7. Okay would you recommend against using FreeNas for this then? Would be because I would want to use MakeMKV on the server itself?
  8. I'm trying to build a budget plex server with some parts I now have (i5-2400, 16GB Ram, 2x4 TB WD Reds 5400 RPM) and was wanting to get an SSD Cache for the system and was wondering what the best Budget SSD would be for this? Since all the fairly inexpensive 240GB SSDs that I found on amazon don't have DRAM. I'm looking at spending at maximum $50 for the SSD. Also one last question which OS should I run for this? Since I'm looking at also later on getting another Blu-Ray Drive since I don't want to rip the one that's in my PC currently out to put it in there and I'm using MakeMKV to rip the Blu-Rays.
  9. Honestly don't get any of those. In my opinion the best "budget option" will be to look on some of your local buying platforms like Craigslist, etc and find a brand name PSU. PSUs are one of most resilient parts of your computer so buying used shouldn't be a problem
  10. So I just recently bought a MB, CPU, and RAM combo from someone on Offerup consisting of a i5-2400, 16GB Ram, on a Dell Optiplex motherboard(The OptiPlex board is from a Optiplex 990). So I've been trying to get an OS to install and I've tried both Windows 10 and POPOS! but I've run into the same error on both. When I try to launch the boot media via UEFI I get an error or it freezes while I can boot into it and install in Legacy mode but the Motherboard can't see the drives as boot media for whatever reason. What am I able to do? NOTE: This board seems to be from an enterprise grade machine. It has a very extensive self diagnostic test and also image server features built into the BIOS. Could this be the root of my issues?
  11. So I was hoping to put together a system in order to surprise my brother in law and ended up buying a motherboard, cpu, and ram combo off of OfferUp with the CPU and MB coming from a Dell Optiplex 790 with me buying it since it seemed to have a standard 4 pin EPS and a 24 Pin Power connector. Just to make sure though does the motherboard have a propriety pinout for the 24 pin power connector or is it standard? I don't want to destroy these parts Never mind got my answer from someone I was talking with
  12. Found another idea on Craigslist someone is selling a Dell R710 X5570 for $100 no RAM or HDD but can add RAM for a little extra so let's say $150 how good would that be? According to cnet that model has an Intel Xenon X5570
  13. Ok well I decided to look on eBay and found a ASUS Sabertooth X79 TUF that's currently being bid on if I'm able to get that for less than $100 if I were to buy E5-2650 v2 for $40 and then spending like $30 on DDR3. Would that be a good deal?
  14. Forgot to add that I plan on having a 240GB SSD Cache. Unless that wouldn't be a good idea
  15. I plan on doing 2x4 TB WD Reds starting out
  16. Actually I just found an I5-4690K on a Gigabyte Z97X-SOC with 16 GB of RAM for $200 do you all think that would be good for a NAS starting out? EDIT: Looked Closer it's a 2x8 config of RAM
  17. Which one do you think would be a better value OPTION1 or OPTION2 .For software I'll likely be using FreeNAS if I do go with this route and starting with around 8 TBs of Storage if that matters.
  18. Is there any specific combo listings you'd reccomend?
  19. He didn't list the motherboard so I'm going to guess it's an non Z board. So I personally wouldn't go for a K model unless it's about the same price or less. So if he wasn't going to upgrade anything besides the CPU I'd say buy an i5-6400 or i5-7400. If possible I'd wait till you have more money since your going to want to do a full upgrade some time soon anyways. That way you don't waste your money doing a small upgrade on your current system which wouldn't be able to be brought to the new one and you can then put that money towards a getting better parts for that new system. Other wise like I said above I'd go with an i5-6400 or i5-7400 with whichever is cheaper being what I'd buy since there isn't too much of an improvement between Skylake(6000 series) and Kabylake(7000 series).
  20. So I've decided to start ripping all of my Blu-Rays and am currently using my Person PC as my PLEX server but I can't keep this on 24/7 like I'd ideally want. So I'm looking into getting a server which would be able to stream 1080P full quality Blu-Ray rips to likely at max 6 or 7 people at once though this would be rare as it would only happen when I convince my friends to do a watch party of something. So I was wondering for around $400 what could be some options I have for everything but storage which ideally could be upgraded when needed. PS: Would this case+power supply combo be a good jumping off point? LINK
  21. Has anyone tried the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi? I'm going to be using a 5800X and was wondering if the VRMs on it are any good? Also does anyone know if any of the SATA ports get disabled if you connect M.2s to it? I was going to have 2 M.2 SSDs and then end up with a total of 5 SATA Devices(2 SSDs, 2 HDDs, and a 4K Blu Ray Drive) so I need all 6 of the SATA ports this board has plus the WiFi though if you have a different Motherboard suggestion I'm all ears.
  22. Hi I was wondering if it was possible to use 2 different networks in this case one over ethernet and the other Wi-Fi with certain types of data being routed through each? I just got a new Wi-Fi solution which is much faster than what my parents have currently but due to being 4G/5G based my ping makes the games I like to play virtually unplayable but I don't want to get rid of it due to it being 2-3x faster down and 7-10x faster up than the Wi-Fi. So I was wondering if it'd be possible to be connected to both at the same time and have any packets for game data sent through the Wi-Fi so that I can play games with a decent ping and then for everything else have it go through the ethernet to have the speed?
  23. I'm trying to resetup a crewlink server for Among Us since for whatever reason it stopped working recently and I couldn't fix it so I reset the server. For whatever reason when I run docker run -d -p 9736:9736 ottomated/crewlink-server:latest I get a string of characters but when I use docker ps nothing is there. Does anyone know why the docker container isn't starting? (I'm using a Digital Ocean server which is running Docker 19.03.12 in Ubuntu)
  24. So since I was planning on getting a new computer I also wanted to instead of using a headset get a proper pair of headphones. I'm planning on buying the Sennheiser HD6XX with a Schiit Magni/Modi Dac and Amp Stack and wanted to make sure that would be all that I would need. There aren't cables that would be required or recommended that the HD6XX, Magni, or Modi would come with?
