Erfurt reacted to PeterPorker3 in SATA power cables for PSU
Yes as long as you are 100% SURE the cables are compatible with your current power supply. If they are not you risk killing whatever you plug into it.

Erfurt got a reaction from Hugs12343 in PSU for a home media server with 8 sata connectors
Hey guys
So a PSU for a home media server with 8 sata connectors. It seems like I'm only able to find really expensive PSU's. But I would like to find a 'cheap' one, you know not a crazy overkill PSU, but one that has the stuff I need and want. My server isn't running anything crazy, so I really only need to power my 6 HDD's and 2 SSD's. I would like if the PSU has a like a fanless mode, when it's not being used, it doesn't make a lot a unnecessary noise, and I would like if it was modular or semi-modular, with like a 24 and a 8 pin connector pre-attached. The last to things aren't a required, but are nice if they are included. The modular/semi-modular is the thing I would like the most.
Anyone have some recommendations?

Too bad you're all the way out in Denmark... If you were a bit closer you could've taken over (some) of that old build. It's just gathering dust at the moment...

Erfurt got a reaction from andrew_knowles in XSPC D5 Photon 170 Reservoir/Pump Combo
I want it so I can mount is on one of the rads, it's for a MATX build, and I don't have a lot of room to place it elsewhere. Mod kit shouldn't be to big a problem, I think.

Erfurt got a reaction from C3DMaX in Paint clear rigid acrylic tubing?
That was a thing to consider, thanks
I will try painting a small piece first, and see how it turns out. Would properly have done it anyway, but just wanted to ask here if anyone had tried it, before doing anything

I know, I was just rolling with the stereotype of Noctua having a "specific" colour scheme that's noticeable to all people who have even just heard of Noctua.

Erfurt reacted to athesean1 in Gaming Build, need some input
corsair, evga and silverstone all make good psu's and should be a great choice for you.
Maybe get like an 800-850 watt psu for future upgrades, if you don't want to upgrade in the future often then go for a 550-650

For PSU you could go with a Corsair AX760i or AX860i. I can recommend the AX760i it's really good, and can't imagine that the AX860i wasn't as good.

Erfurt got a reaction from Sharif in Samsung 840 pro 512 gb or two 256 gb in raid 0
The thing is guys, I already have daily backups. And I only have this one system. Should I still get a 512 gb, or save the money and buy another 256 gb for raid 0?

Thanks, this will help me a lot. CPU is properly going to be an i3 or i5, depends if i5 is on sale

Erfurt reacted to Toby in Looking for a new gaming mouse
While there is an optical mouse with 6 side buttons (the G602), it doesn't have a flawless sensor, which is typically what makes optical preferable when it comes to gaming mice. It's also not wired.
Nothing exists that fits all your criteria, but some mice come close.
The M90/M95 has more than 6 side buttons, but fits your colour scheme.
The G700s has four side buttons and 3 on the front-left (look up a picture on google), but has non-blue LED DPI indictator.
The G600 has more than 6 side buttons, but fits your colour scheme.
The G602 has 6 side buttons precisely and fits your colour scheme, but is wireless.
The G500s has 3 side buttons, 2 front-left DPI buttons and fits your colour scheme.
Wildcard: Mad Catz M.M.O.7 is available in a gloss black and silver colour scheme with blue LEDs and has 6-10 side buttons, depending on how you look at it.
It's a fair complaint. If you're going to give advice that has nothing to do with the OP's needs, then at best you're wasting your own time and theirs, at worst you end up making them buy something that doesn't fulfill their requirements.

Erfurt got a reaction from joshuamurphy in Home media server Linux or Windows
Okay thanks all, I have no Linux experience at the moment, but I want to get some, as it's nice to have. I don't really mind using some extra time to get it to work, and the fact that Linux is free is a plus for me, less money needed = getting a server faster, which is lovely

Erfurt got a reaction from UnderADyingSun in Looking for a good FPS game
Well, I could tell you the same thing, I don't see CS as a real shooter, just a kids game. I have tried BLR, but none of my friends liked it, and basically that's a big part of the experiences, and make a FPS game a lot more fun.
