I'm looking at maybe getting a graphics card to put in a Dell Optiplex 7010 DT (i5-3470, 12GB Memory) I was fortunate enough to get for free. This GTX 1650 might be a candidate, but I wonder about power delivery. This card uses 75W of power straight from the PCIe slot. According to page 19 of technical guidebook, the PCIe slot only supports 50W on the DT version (but 75W on the MT version). I'm not sure how hard and fast the specification is or if it is more of a CYA thing for the manufacturer with the smaller form factor as it seems like an odd limitation. It seems as if one reviewer on the linked Amazon page (Ryan Jan 22) has has good results. I would be very thankful for any advice on whether this might work, if I should look at different video cards, or if I'm pushing the specs too far and it isn't feasible to do anything like this. I definitely wouldn't mind spending less ($50-$100 range), but it looks like performance really drops off hard below the GTX 1650 especially when limited by size and power.

During Apple's Q1 investor conference call, Tim Cook said that he thinks Virtual Reality is "really cool" and that is "not a niche market." Although Apple is notoriously secret about unannounced products, many have speculated that Apple may try to jump into the VR market as other major tech companies are close to launching their VR products. When an investor pressed the topic of VR on Tim Cook, he was not critical of the technology as he has been with things like Google Glass or Microsoft's Tablet/Laptop hybrid. As iPhone growth begins to stagnant, Apple might be interested in VR as another way to continue to grow its bottom line. I had this display for a week or so, but ended up returning it because the backlight at its lowest brightness was to bright for my eyes in a dark room. Maybe it was defective, maybe I am just sensitive to the bright light, or maybe it had something to with the PWM backlight control that was talked about by Goodbytes.

Thank you for clarifying that brightness adjusts the backlight, and that contrast adjusts the color.

Hi, I bought a monitor from Dell, the U2312HM. Even at the lowest brightness setting, it is to bright for me. Dell recommended to lower the contrast ratio to get the screen dimmer. To put things in an unscientific way, I feel like the backlight stays just as bright, but the the screen color is just darker after lowering the contrast ratio. Is adjusting the brightness and and the contrast ratio the same thing like Dell seems to indicate?
