    Because the 290 + proper aftermarket cooler still deliver a better price/performance ratio if you factor in noise (which I do). I would be surprised if a stock 780 was nearly as quiet as the Arctic cooler mounted to my 6950. The situation you describe in the quoted statement rarely exists.

    So Anandtech advises against the R9 290, saying that it's extreme noise levels outweigh it's outstanding price/performance ratio. My opinion: Wait for the cheapest reference card, then mount a custom cooler to it.     I think the Portal series should not be continued. I'd like a new innovative game better than a sequel, those always look like squeezing money out of stuff that's actually already finished. I like the Portal series, and if it's a good sequel, then give it to me. Let's rather wait for a Portal-2-patch that changes the story's ending

    Kids ... with a small lens like the ones used in smartphones, picture quality will always suck. No matter how many MP are behind it. (Did you ever consider, that a 4K-image is only ~8 MP?) Sincerely, a DSLR user.

    Why can't everybody just pay those fees? Don't they earn enough? Rockstar is not a "patent privateer". It's a consortium that was made so the involved companies could share the patents. Someone really hates here ...

    Yeah ... just a reminder: Eric Schmidt is a Google executive. If Tim Cook said "The iPhone is more secure than Androids" people here would be quick ranting about Apple ... but it's Eric Schmidt aka Google ... so he must be right, not?

    Why not use the Mono PLUS? I'm using it on my HD 6950, reaching 64°C maximum in Furmark. And it's very quiet, thanks to the 120mm fan (the twin turbo uses 92mm, the Xtreme III is to much for 670 imo). The overlapping heatsink contributes to the airflow in your case, which is not so with the twin turbo afaik.

    Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) are quite common, for surveillance and reconnaissance like the Global Hawk, as well as combat capable drones like the Predator. This unmanned F-16 is probably turned into target drones.
