  1. I can see "But can it run SHAPES7???" become a new adage on this forum. I'd use that.
  2. It is actually very unusual for the CPU power demand to not change or even decrease from one version to the next. Most of these usually stem from added background tasks or increased work of those. I'm not an expert on the matter, but you can find lots of reports saying that devices' performance decreased when users updated the OS. Glad you didn't question me mentioning app updates here as well. From my experience, it is virtually impossible to come out cheaper when buying multiple cheapo phones instead of one flagship. 3 phones over 5 years can (again, my experience) simply not be done with cheapos since those usually last more like months rather than years. Especially if you want to have a similar phone performance experience. It simply doesn't add up. Also it's not as sustainable, but that's a whole different story.
  3. That is with a big "for now". Keep in mind that iPhones have a long OS support lifespan (up to 5 years? idk what the oldest device with iOS 11 support is currently), so even future increases in computation power demand (both from apps and the OS) won't have a huge impact. This is of course an area where most Android phone makers do not even try to compete so I guess if you're one of those people who get a new phone every two years you can go for the cheapos ...
  4. You get it. But I'm afraid you're explaining to doorknobs in this place. Especially those numerous people who are agressively ignoring how much they benefit from Apple constantly driving the whole industry forward. Examples: High-DPI displays (and high-FPS displays on mobile right now), reversible connectors with robust sockets, lifespan of devices including ongoing OS updates ... People on here seem to have an ongoing issue differentiating between numbers of any kind and quality of the experience. And instead of reading up and trying to understand why Apple is so successful (as I'd expect true tech enthusiasts to do), they rather talk shit. You won't see any renowned tech journalist do that, guess why.
  5. I bought fictional AMD shares in a game on Nov 8 last year and sold them yesterday. Their value had doubled in this time frame. I'm seriously pissed that I didn't buy real shares, since I was rather confident in AMD last fall. Darn.
  6. Better delay it than ship defective or problematic units.

  8. A survey conducted in the US indicates a remarkable increase in the usage of online privacy tools in the recent months. The survey was done by DuckDuckGo/spreadprivacy.com via SurveyMonkey's "Audience" Platform where sample groups representing the US population demographic were asked about their usage of "Do Not Track"-Settings in browsers, password managers, tracker blockers and VPNs in October 2016 and May 2017. I'm impressed both by the numbers themselves as well as the noteworthy increase thereof. For me personally, I'm using a password manager, tracker blocker and I also have no-tracking-options enabled in the browsers that I use. I'm not using a VPN though, mostly because of the cost. I assume that this is also the reason why VPNs have the lowest number of users among the tools that were studied in this survey. Now I would really like to know what these numbers look like in other areas. I'd make the assumption that all of these have higher percentages here in Germany and many other parts of Europe. Source
  9. Posting news about someone announcing an announcement will definitely help.
  10. Windows forgetting/deleting my settings is the software developers fault? That's utter BS. Also, Photoshop Elements 11 for instance was released in late summer 2012 and that's not "XP and older" by any stretch of the imagination, still some dreamer at Microsoft seriously thought that I might want to use some stupid Windows App for CR2-Files ...
  11. The only real question is: Will they stop the stupid question if Edge should be my standard browser? The only notable thing that the creators update gave me (besides short freezes in Outlook that didn't happen before) was that Windows completely forgot which applications to use for quite a number of file types I use. Like how do you even screw that up ...
  12. This matches what I experience on my iPhone. Apps halt when switching away and then continue when you return to them. It doesn't, at least not to a noticeable degree. I usually close apps in the background. To test this, I opened ten apps at once - without noticeable impact on performance.
  13. No kidding. Whenever someone tells me that they have a Windows Phone, my response is: "Oh, it's you!"
  14. Windows Phone can go die a slow and agonizing death until Microsoft learns that in order to succeed, they should offer something better than the competition instead of something just as good (or even worse, as in this case). The whole situation around WP is a taste of their own medicine for MS - Linux suffers from the same chicken-and-egg problem regarding application support because of Windows' dominance in the PC area. I really hope that we'll be off Windows towards Linux big time before WP even has a chance to spread again, but looking at the numbers, this shouldn't be too big of a problem.
  15. It's possible to fake the user agent. Any results from doing that? It would prove the accusation and somehow it's missing here. Edit: Read the article, there it is: I'm sure our local MS shills will have a the perfect explanation for this
  16. I get the slight confusion He's correct. I just had to mock it
  17. Jet fuel does not burn hot enough to melt steel beams. However, the chemtrail fluid does.
  18. Here it is for you to read again: I'll try to put it in simple words: "Some games benefit from having SMT disabled. The gains we have observed range from only little to about 20 %. I assume that fixing the scheduler will bring at least the same gains for each game as disabling SMT." I see no other way to read this than the one you listed second. Especially since the first way (which you picked due to your outstanding reading comprehension skills, I assume) would actually make him look like an idiot. And no, his post was not "idiotically worded". You misread and then failed to recognize that your interpretation doesn't make sense imo. Also you still have to prove your statement about only little gains, may I remind you.
  19. imo this proves how you constantly keep missing the point. @Morgan MLGman even highlighted stuff for you (which you conveniently left out of this summary, of course). The original claim was an up to 20 % increase in performace in some games (even with references to why that would be), which you somehow interpret as "most games get 20 % performance increase". Additionally, you predict only small gains for the epic reason of "because [more gains] most likely will not happen" and not one piece of noteworthy proof.
  20. @kladzen You can update the OP with this list: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/5x3cvv/ryzen_review_mega_thread/ Or add the link to the OP so people can see more than your three cherry-picked reviews ... Edit: Or this one https://videocardz.com/66826/amd-ryzen-7-review-roundup
