  1. not specifically obviously the longer and lighter the better but id prioritize gaming performance over these two factors. Id take my PC if i wasn't having to lug it back and forth every few weeks, main aims are something powerful ideally with decent I/O as plugs are severely limited where I will be staying. I will be moving it back and forth every few weeks but along with a case of other things clothes etc so the difference between a super light laptop and slightly bulky will make little to no difference overall although thin bezels are always nice. Priority's Performance Gaming specifically no intention of rendering tasks etc Display ideally 17inch preferably 120hz or better 1920/1080 res min I/O at least 3 usb ports Noise on basic tasks Battery life on basic tasks browsing netflix etc (ideally 2-3 hours gaming would be nice if i ever take it on a plane but not necessary) anything else weight etc are just lower down on the priority's.
  2. Clevo yes via PC specialist and there similarly priced to Argos normally but my 15% discount brings them about £100-£200 cheaper, but ill look into them and see quality wise what the difference is. I was looking at HP and MSI as argos stocks them and as above makes them cheaper with my discount than other similar spec machines obviously that limiting my range but id rather get the most performance for my money than other factors like portability or even design etc, not that these things don't matter to me there just lower on the list side note the only other brands argos do sell if you would recommend them is Acer at least around these specs.
  3. In short I am moving away for a apprenticeship and want to buy a gaming laptop for the collage year of that apprenticship. I'm currently torn between; Hp omen: 17-cd0014n. i7 9750H 8 GB ram GTX 1660ti 512 GB SSD 1TB HD at £892 Msi GL63: GL63 8SE-093UK. i7 8750H 16 GB ram RTX 2060 128 GB SSD 1TB HD at £1105 HP omen: 17-cb0001na. i7 9750H 16 GB ram RTX 2070 256 GB SSD 1TB HD at £1360 I have looked at benchmarks and I think the sweet spot is the 1660ti, but every time i look my brain tells me but the 2070 is better so get that and up sell myself. however the smaller SSD puts me off so i go back to the 1660ti. Its only a 15inch where as the others are 17inch, 17 inch being my prefferance. So I looked at the 2060 a compromise in the middle but again it has a even smaller SSD. I ended up in a loop unable to make a decision. so in short (after rambling above) any opinion on these laptops would be appreciated or any alternatives you think I should look at up to £1400 also ive been looking at Argos for the laptops as i work there and with my 15% discount it seems to beat out most other uk retailers but if you think there are better deals elsewhere please let me know. Thanks for any help
  4. alright you've convinced me I will go with the one card and upgrade it along with the monitor down the line thank you again for the advice.
  5. one last thing if its a worthwhile upgrade I would be willing to increase budget what is the best option out of 770 sli or 7970 crossfire while the cheaper build does tempt me as I could upgrade down the line I think I would rather go with a slightly higher build now purely because the money is from my 18th birthday and I'm not normally good at saving so would rarther have a bit more longevity but I appreciate the suggestion
  6. thanks for the tip I take it was fairly obvious given how quick you both responded
  7. basically just want the best fps in my budget for gaming on modern games on the max settings my budget is around £1200 with operating software without monitor I will be running 1920 x 1080. This is what I have put together so far (first build so not 100% sure on it) http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1tyUP I went with a AMD processer because it was noticeably cheaper but comparable to the i7 3770k two 680 in sli on benchmarks seems (still unsure) the best option at this GPU range as scaling is around 80%-60% for most games that would need it. the case really doesn't matter to me as long as its compatible. any advice or tips/ alternatives to be considered would be greatly appreciated.
