Lenovo Thinkpad T580 seems fien yes. I won't be gaming much on it (got a tower for that).
batterylife is kinda important, but as long as it has atleast a few hours it's gona be fine. display is not that important.

If you want to consider PCIe expanders, SAS expanders, etc., you could hook up literally tens of thousands of hard drives to a single PC. Only limited by proximity issues, power consumption, and RAID rebuild bandwidth/times.

You'll probably hit a limit with the number of ports on the motherboard first, and then probably hit a bottleneck with the controller if you were hitting them all hard at the same time.

cpu can technically support endless storage drives, but your limited by mobo bios os and case

The motherboard, then the BIOS, then the OS (maybe the last 2 are switched around).

That Gaung Huang Hau Plaza is the building to look for, but may not for the best price. The district around that Plaza have a lots of pc hardware store, you might get lucky if you ask the shopkeeper.
Unfortunately English may be a bit challenging to some of the shopkeeper, bring a friend who can speak Chinese if u can to save some time.

Nope, mining only needs 1x to work.
