  • Biography
    Isnt this technically an Autobiography?
The first PC game I ever played was AVP2 and that was on my uncles computer, I also played Empire earth too, but in my early gaming years, that was pretty much all i played.
then dawned the era of the XBOX, I had to do apower point presentation for my father as to why I wanted one, and why it would would help me do my homework (Lies, all lies) at which point me dear old parents, being the type of people they are, made sure that on christmas that they wouldnt give me anything and told me I had nothing because my presentation wasnt good enough and waiting till I was crying untill my dad, who was too busy laughing, came downstairs and handed my first, my very own gaming console.
Since that day, I had always really been a Console gamer, with the odd bit of PC gaming just to play RTS games (they arnt the same on console) Then come 2008 I discovered a game called EVE online. It soon became the only game I played, and didnt require much computer resources to play thus I had a little dual core celeron processor 2gb ram and a ATI 512mb GPU, a year later I upgraded to an AMD CPU and a GTX220 which was my first ever build. then In 2011 I got into playing more PC games and done a whole new build going for a Phenon quad core CPU and a GTX450 which had me happy with playing my games at better than console standard. after rent started to kick my arse I was forced to sell my rig at the start of 2013, a few months later I build my current rig on a budget which was based on a cheap Dual core intell CPU and a GTX550ti I was rather proud of the build as i managed to spend under £300 for an entire set up (tower, monitor and peripherals)and now being back in full time employment I am slowly building up a new machine.

  1. Well, The size of it it would be pointless as a NAS as its just to bad big and noisy for such a simple task. Whats makes it moot is I ready have a 4 drive Nas that is a very small form factor and takes up no space at all. One idea me and flat mate had was to put the thing in an enclosure and bung it in the attic its cool the noise wont leak down and it would be out the way. But so far game server is the one that might be worth while or using it as a webserver. If i were to sell it id be lucky to get £20 for it so the way I see it its better to keep it and make use of it than to sell it.
  2. How can I go about making this thing a dedicated game server?
  3. So, I got given a Dell Power Edge 1850 and it has windows server 2003 installed. The only thing ive used it for at the moment is to push alot of air around the apartment as this thing is like a jumbo jet taking off. so, if any one has an idea what the hell I can actually do with this let me know.
  4. I just got the game from midnight release. downloaded, installed. Open the game and......CRASH. It doesnt even make it to the splash screen before it crashes out on me.
  5. I just had a random flashback to a game I once played as a kid. I remember it being at the same time I was playing aliens vs prediator. The only thing I can remember is being some sort of marine/soilder. I would walk down a gangway to a chair, you would sit in the chair and a portal would open and you would be flung into combat. Any one have an idea as to what game I am remembering. I have the sudden urge to play this game now but have no idea what the fuck it is.
  6. Thats simply of the 550. If you have a 570 a 660ti or a 760 you could run the game fiarly well. I have a I5 and a GTX770 and I run the game on max 1080p settings and only dip belowe 30FPS during the most extreme battles, but even then it only dips slightly.
  7. Id say you would want at least an I5 and GTX760 to play the game, as the game is a resource pit when you get into large scale fights.
  8. I'll play it when I can. I enjoy the hell out of it, but It is a game that I need to play with a friend or something. I play as terran republic I've tried as the vanu for a little bit their weapons are easier to use at range. but overall I find terran more enjoyable to play.
  9. Truth is, As much as I wouldn't mind to do it myself, Id rather a proper job as I dont fancy footing the bill when I fuck it up and have to get another side panel to attempt it again. And yes, I want the lettering to be green plexi instead of just a sticker.
  10. Hey there folks. I'll keep this as quick and simple, I've put together a rough design. Now my question is this. Where in Kent, UK if any one knows would I be able to send my current side panel to get this cut. Also if any one has had this done in the past, would they be able to tell me how much it cost to get this kind of thing done.
  11. The MP may be high but you want a better sensor not more MP. Didnt linus already do a video on this?
  12. I feel obligated to share with you this fantastic post from Imgur. http://imgur.com/account/favorites/4RyGl
  13. If you havnt done anything like this before, Dont try out for crowd funding right away. you want to learn the skill set first. If you want to use Visual effects use tutorials from Video Copilot (I'll post links) for Special effects FilmRiot and IndyMogoul are two good youtube channels. For equipment I would suggest the following for starting equipment; Cannon T3i/600D/T4i/650D these are a good price point and the video quality you can achive are fantastic. A good camera for any entry level film maker. Mobile Lighting such as battery powered LED rigs can be purchased for around $30-50 as well as wanting reflector boards too which are only a few bucks. and if you can find a good bargain you can get a greenscreen kit (Green material, Day light bulbs, and all the stands) and It only cost me £50 reduced from £100 Now here is where the fun starts. Alot of us who get into film making dont start by making films, but rather test footage. usually to test different lenes, editing styles or to see how a certain effect will look on camera visual or special effect (Visual effects = effects made on computer, Special effects = an effect created live on set such as sparks/air canons etc) Here are some links for you. http://www.videocopilot.net/ https://www.youtube.com/user/filmriot https://www.youtube.com/user/indymogul The above mentioned websites are all fantastic learning resources for getting into Film. VideoCopilot more than the others. Then, once you have got a skill set together and you want to get crowd funded you will want a few things. The first is a Demo reel and the second is a video that has good reviews from a good range of people. I will link you two videos from one of my friends youtube channel (Im usually the grip/props/what ever else needs doing) So an example of a demo reel is this. and a video with a good review (Im just throwing this out there because Paul W.S. Anderson stated that this video was his personal favourite in a film competition which i think is rather impressive ) Any way I hope this wall of text and video helps out and gives you an idea on what you need. PS. The budget for all of my friends work has been pizza and travel expense. So you dont need a massive budget to produce something that looks good.
  14. Razer Kraken Headset. I didnt know that it was the Kraken Pro that came with the mic.....Mainly because I didnt know there was a kraken pro
