  1. Those older monitors will not work. Even if the panel fits the connections on said panel are in different spots it would be a Frankenstein fix if one were possible.
  2. If I sell this system as a barebones setup this will be my 4th system I've sold. All being used hardware.
  3. After the CM H500P comes out in October going to buy one and upgrade my current build with a Coolermaster HAF XM Case. Its still in very good shape. Wondering if I should sell the HAF XM case as a Barebones System or part it out separately and sell that way? I have 4 nice fans too that I would throw in as well. Linus actually did a review on this 5 years ago.
  4. Joker has a video from PAX West in the CM booth. Release date is very soon like October soon.
  5. Try a few distros. As you see from the responses to the original question some have said Ubuntu/Mint to Debian/Arch. Regardless any of the distros are always rewarding cause you are constantly learning something. I would try a VM setup in windows and let your dad sample some for himself. Tell him to break it cause it doesn't matter its in a VM you can snap shot and reload anytime. Also a VM is a tool you can use later as well to test out new versions and new distros. Heck maybe he even might want to try something from the offensive security end of it and give backtrack or kali linux a try. .
  6. So we went from being the only hard-core gamers who play CoD and BF to not being gamers at all? I give up. Don't know if anyone on this forum is old enough to remember that at one point us gamers were all hackers living out of our parents basements, pimple covered, and nerdy. Its funny how times change. Play all the games and frag all the noobs. Thats online gaming today. I would trade it in a heartbeat for a modem and a quake 3 arena server and some irc chat.
  7. So its not quite like the Roku? I noticed no mention of local playing of files either from your network or locally from your phone/tablet/pc/nas. Thats kind of a draw back for me. I guess I'll stick with my HTPC for myself. I could see this being great for traveling as you are doing. Looking forward to hearing how it fairs in the hotel. Most hotels have super cheap tvs. Some still only have coax/vga connectors cause they buy them by the hundreds.
  8. Just looked on Ebay cheapest one I can find is free shipping for about 50 dollars and they go up from there with the average being 75 dollars with 2 days left on bidding. Think I'll just wait to get it. I don't need one myself just my dad and sister want one cause they both are starting to really hate the boxee I left them. I want one to see how I can break the thing and root it. I'm sure there's a bounty out on rooting it by now.
  9. Was wondering if anyone in Canada has got their hot little hands on one of these puppies yet? I was going to pick up 3 of them up and found its not for sale on Canadian sites for the android market nor amazon nor bestbuy Was wondering as well if we (Canadians) got native app support (chrome browser, netflix, youtube)?
