Reddax got a reaction from curiousmind34 in Storage power issue
    Hi,
I have the EVGA 550 B3 Power supply. I use this in my home server. My UPS currently reports usage of 75 watts as it doesn't run a GPU.
I currently have 6 hard drives, and 1 SSD. There are two SATA power cables, with 3 connections on each directly from the PSU (6 drives power max in total). So, I have one SATA splitter to 4 connectors, to allow the SSD to have power, this has been working fine.  I've just attempted to add 2 more SSD's and the power cuts off after about 10 seconds of boot, removing the two new SSD's resolves it, so I imagine it's overloading the SATA cable to the PSU.

Would I be able to resolve this by just having MOLEX to SATA splitter as my MOLEX power cable isn't used?

Decided to just go for it and bought a super cheap 40mm fan and screwed it straight into the heatsink and brought it down to about 50 degrees. Doesn't make any more noise and brings down the temps so I'm happy ?

Brill. Thank you. I got the server with everything in it with 1 cpu for £40 then threw in an extra Intel Xeon E5620 cpu for £4 so I'm extremely happy with price to performance. The motherboard is the Intel® Server Board S5500BC.
This should bring the temps down a lot, especially in the room its sat in.

Buying identical memory is one of the reasons it's a good idea. It avoids issues like this. What you listed is server memory and if works by itself them it shouldn't have any trouble working in tangent with an identical pair.

One of the reasons mixing RAM can have complications is when the different sticks are trying to work with one another be it dual-channel, triple-channel, or quad-channel. Also server boards particularly of the older variety are often more picky about the RAM you use.

I would replace all your memory. Most memory comes with a LIFETIME warranty, so I suggest starting out by contacting the Manufacturer (assuming all the same brand), and finding out what their RMA process is. Often they only require the SN (Serial Number) and not proof of purchase (since, you know, it's a lifetime warranty - shouldn't matter when or where you bought it).

^ would kick butt and wouldn't be too difficult to carry. If you'd like, I'll send you a pcpartpicker of the parts you would want to get for Mini-ITX if you send me your full spec list

imo you should spend the money on buying a super small case + upgrading your GPU, but that's just me :3

Checking if the psu will fit in the case, one second

btw if you're wondering why I switched the CPU cooler it's because the hyper evo is too big

edit: The GPU and PSU will fit and so will the Noctua cooler You should be good to go!
edit 2: All Mini-ITX mobos only have two ram slots, so you will have to get rid of some of your ram. If you still want 16 GB, you can fit a 8GB x 2 Kit in your budget

Reddax got a reaction from BRiteBak in Touchpad being disabled when holding keyboard key down
Whenever i hold a key down on the keyboard of my Fujitsu Lifebook A544, the mouse click on my touchpad is disabled, and when i let go of the key on the keyboard, it takes a while for the mouse click to re-activate. I've had to disable the feature of stopping the mouse cursor from moving when a keyboard button is pressed by going into regedit and disabling the registries with PalmKMS...

    As you can see, there are no options in my mouse options either;

    Help would be appreciated.

    Edit:

    FIXED IT!

It's a windows 8.1 feature. Disabled it in the metro menu.

Thanks. Uninstalled software and went into bios. Core speed now at 4.2 at a much lower 1.181 V. Running fine with maximum temperature of around 60 degrees. Definitely much more room for overclocking but will leave it like this for now to test it for a couple of days. I appreciate your help. From this voltage and speed, how would i start to overclock it some more? What increments should i be going up in for both voltage and core?
