LordoftheRaccoons got a reaction from Princess Luna in Best cpu for adobe premiere pro?
I'm with Princess on this one. I have a i7-6700k and it handles Premiere just fine. If you're having issues with playing footage in the timeline it's usually b/c of the codec your footage is in. You want a high bit rate codec, Prores, DNxHR, and GoPro Cineform are good codecs and industry standards for editing. If your footage isn't in this codec natively, you can use Premiere's Proxy settings to transcode it automatically. If you really want to upgrade, I'd wait for Zen 2 or Intel to release a new architecture.

Are you aware that in order to upgrade from your i7 7700K you will have to ditch your motherboard as well? Can you budget fit both components at the same time?
The i7 7700K is still OK for Premiere Pro, are you using QuickSync Acceleration? Do you have CUDA and NVENC enable on your nVidia GPU?

LordoftheRaccoons reacted to MedievalMatt in Floatplane deliveries and worries by staff
I just come to floatplane to download the week's episodes to chill on my couch on a saturday morning, eat my cornflakes with my son and chill with my tech nerdiness. I like it, son likes it. Content is great, looks great, and is worth far more than the paltry $3 USD i pay a month for it. I only wish that WAN show was on FP with the higher bitrates and better everything. Also, because its a PITA to have to go to YT just for WAN show.

The way that you can look at it is that Floatplane is(in theory) a service, and they're trying to uphold the claims that were made when you signed up. I wouldn't criticize them too much for it because they're giving you what you paid for, and letting you know when things aren't quite going as planned.

I understand that there are a couple of oddball cases that I sometimes nag about (errors, etc.), but they're expected - pushing out content without time to search in depth for errors will let some slip through.
That's fine. It's also great to see y'all fix a majority of the problems subtly from FPC to youtube - especially when the time between the two is less than a day. Credit's due to whoever reads the threads on those.

LordoftheRaccoons got a reaction from skimmilk5 in monitor for photo and video editing
I recently bought the Dell Ultrasharp U2515Hx after receiving a few recommendations for this purpose. It's not the most color accurate monitor ever, but it comes factory calibrated with 99%sRGB guaranteed.

I would almost suggest building an entirely new system, and just moving your storage and graphics cards over.
You can squeeze a Ryzen 3 1200 processor, a new motherboard, and a decent graphics card under $500, as demonstrated by Linus in the video below.
If your games leverage CPU power more (GTA V or similar), consider a better processor (Ryzen 5). If your games leverage GPU power more, consider a better GPU (1060 6GB or 1070 on special promo pricing).
Hope this helps!
