In a new report, the White House Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) has called on developers to use "memory-safe programming languages," a category which excludes the popular languages.

The market has been flooded with developers who have degrees or certifications with only a single semester of Java programming. Doesn't matter how "memory safe" the language is. With the incredulously low standard for programmers these days, they are all a threat. Stop blaming the language!

    Summary
According to research firm Omdia, the Apple Vision Pro's bill of materials is $1,542. The most expensive part is the 1.25-inch Sony Semiconductor display, which enhances the virtual experience with high pixel density and lifelike colors. Apple pays approximately $228 for each Micro OLED display used in their Vision Pro headset. The second most expensive part in the Vision Pro is the main processor, the Apple M2 chip.

The high price of some components doesn't surprise me since there's some very high-end hardware in this product. It would be interesting to know what Apple's profit margin for the Vision Pro is, after things like R&D becomes part of the calculation.

    Summary
At the World Government Summit in Dubai, Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of Nvidia, said that children shouldn't learn computer science. In the future, coding will be done through human language and AI will generate the program.
People should focus on "on more valuable expertise like biology, education, manufacturing, [...]. This makes every person in the world a programmer".

Won't happen. Code is precise. The languages of choice (programming languages) are designed without ambiguity. Human language has ambiguity and people aren't precise. Further AI isn't intelligent. All it does is provide output based on probabilities without any understanding of what the output is.
Because the AI is an imposter, the output looks good but is prone to error. Running analysis on such a code base is a bad idea, and converting the output into a meaningful solution requires knowledge of the output. In this case, knowing how to code.

    China is a wired place.
How cheap can you manufacturer a 3m WS2812B (30LED/m) & bluetooth controller that it can be sold for $3 incl. (partial) shipping cost?
$7 for a  PCIE WIFI 5 (AC) with Intel chipset isn't bad either but I could see this one as WIFI-AC is old and they might use recycled ICs or surplus.
The USB 3.0 extension could be good enough as cables have crazy mark-up's.

I think my ultimate plan would be to limit the long-term turbo to 40-45w since that's about what the cooling in this thing can handle before encroaching on the 80s.

To me, it's a W from AMD. That launch price wasn't the best but now it seems like a decent option. 7800 XT still seems like the best value but at least we've got a better competitor to the 4070 SUPER (7800 XT was about in line with the 4070 SUPER performance but now the 7900 GRE should be better than it, even though the official competitor of price is the 4070)

Same, 1L Dells will forever have my heart. I reeeeeeeally want to get a newer model that's 12th or 13th gen but I'm not feeling that rich. Only problem (for me) is that the I/O on newer models is somehow worse. IMO the 7040 is perfect: 6x USB3, 1x DP, 1x HDMI... The newer ones are either 4x USB3, 2x USB2, 1x DP, 1x HDMI or 4x USB3, 1x Type C, and 3x DP... Like come on guys lol

The size above those micro bricks is awesome. Still tiny but large enough to fit a low profile x16 PCIE-card.

HP has those nice modular (proprietary) connectors meaning you could upgrade the network even in those micro bricks.

Bought this (apparently) brand new 130w power brick for this PC I got for free: an OptiPlex 7040 Micro. Mine has an i5 6600T, 8GB of single-channel 2133MHz RAM, and a 128GB SanDisk X400. My inner dumbass really wants to give it an i7 6700, 32GB of RAM (anything higher than 2400 is overkill, but it'll probably get 2666), and a 512GB MP33. Just for the memes.

It might be good idea to check/ensure that CPU/GPU benchmarks not only measure time-per-test or iterations-per-time, but also verify that results are exactly the same. Does e.g. Cinebench check that resulting image is bit-perfect on on all runs?
There is https://reproducible-builds.org/ which tracks attempts of software ensuring that repeated compilation results in exactly the same binaries (i.e. do not embedd date of compilation, disk paths, do not randomize anything, etc..). It could be used as part of a benchmark, not only measure compile times, but verify that CPU does not miscalculate during sustained high loads (it would be very useful test for cheaper non-workstation class laptops often used by technical students for generally workstation-level tasks).
Also, AM4 with ECC is nice, but full ECC should just be available everywhere. Producing new hardware without full ECC support (or fusing it from some SKUs) is irresponsible.
