  1. Hey all. I am new to MacBook stuff. I would appreciate if someone could help me to understand, so I could decide what to get. I wanna get my self a Pro, so that it would serve me for years to come. My future usage is: coding web serfing maybe latter video editing something not that hard what I want to understand, is if the base 8GB and 256 really not good enough ? Bigger better at some points, but do I really need that upgrade. If I could compare it in performance to my 5800X on samsung 980 pro ssd, with 16 GB ram who would win ? I was told that the Apple 8gb is equalent of 16 gb for the normal pc ?!
  2. All I did is on PC, share network, so that i could get any file from another pc vice versa. Nothing more
  3. NO one build it. IPS came, connect fiber cable to router, and that it. What I did after is: get POE switcher for cameras. 3 more switchers, connected them to router and the rest of devices to them. Thats
  4. Hey, sorry, I read about topology, and unfortunately, I cant answer, I did not build or set up anything in my network. I just connected devices.
  5. Hey. I have 1 router with 1000mb speed. And a lot of devices connected to it. Wifi - 8 devices 3 switchers - from there it goes to ip security cameras and 3 more pc. It all was well for some time, but for the last 2 weeks, I started getting these issues, like letancy delay in Games, and connection loss. Can all this devices cause this, and are there solutions, except getting another line to separte them?
  6. And cause people have exp in this matter they can say This brand, or this series is good for NAS, or say, it doesn't matter unless you set it up/ configure correctly. And yet. there are advertisments saying WD red best for NAS, Blue for home use. So that is why I am asking.
  7. So you say, you can by anything just set it up correctly?\
  8. Thx for the info but i do not understand, why all focus only on that, and not saying what they think will be the best hdd anyway, that will live longer than others?
  9. And PS> ok you said sarcastly that hdd will not live that long, ok what hdd will live the longest and will be the best for NAS USe?!
  10. Your suggestion to back up the files before hdd dies? ALso, if i store them on Hdd for 10 years without using it the HDD i mean, like a caset will it still work with its life span? Or it can go bad with time, like a potato. ( i am talking if not stored correctly like bad temps, humid, etc )
  11. I am informing you, so you can tell me in advance, " hey dude its awesome, but I suggest you back up your sht as it will prob will die soon" Was it that hard? You had to be sarcastic? I said you were wrong? Jesus, ye txh for help.
  12. Hey, I'll brief, I wanna store all my videos, and movies on the hard drive, and I want them to be available even after 20 years, for my kids to watch it. Which hard drive I should get, also prefer sizes over 10 TB , 8TB is fine 2. Its true NAS will work 24-7 , but I do not think that we will read form 24-7. Maybe few hours a day.
  13. I intend to keep it running 24/7 as to watch movies . that's all
  14. So, until now I have always thought to use my spare PC parts to build a PC. But now I am thinking again about NAS. I would love to hear your opinion about which is better ?! I am mainly going to store movies on it, download them, and save them to the hard drives. I have already over 7 TB of movies, which is why I bought the EXOS ENTERPRICE 16 TB which I didn't know was gonna be that noisy. I do realize that the difference that is going to be is in power efficiency, as NAS has fewer components than PC to run. Size. But is that all? ALso, which brand you would suggest? I do not want something expensive from 2 up to 4 drives I think. COnnected to PLEX main think, and maybe watch on PC directly
  15. DO not see use for nas when I can build a separate PC, I just don't have place for it yet. DO not wanna place it in PC, as well as the noise this hdd makes is different from regular home hard drives. It has clicky noise which I hear even with dampers and inside PC ( at night)
  16. I intend to store movies on the drive so SSD not really an option,. Thanks for advices
  17. Hey, Until recently I used the WD Blue drive 2TB + Seagate Baracuda 4 TB. And then I made a huge mistake as it seems. I bought the Seagate 16 TB EXOS Interprise without knowing how loud they are. Can you suggest please a quiet HDD? WD Blue and Baracuda were fine at noise lvl. But I understood that the bigger capacity you get the louder they will be. Is that true as well?
  18. I think I found what is messing around with the system. All the extensions in Chrome for starters. Will keep looking
