i'd be skeptical that whoever installed them wouldn't fade away into obscurity like every single other niche medical implanted tech company. But who knows maybe you'll beat the odds. It's not like a giant company can just go bankrupt suddenly leaving people with proprietary useless implants that don't conform to any common standards or anything.

Those 990FX boards were lovely when they came out.  My bulldozer chip lived in a 990FXA UD7.

I still got a phenom 1100T system that has a UD5 board too

    Forgot I had these around.
This is an older picture from a benching session I was doing for a few points when I did it.

One day I may breakout something Intel and see what I can really do with these.

Yes, I still have it all here (Somewhere).

After really extensive repairs the Quaderno lives and is fully working, albeit with a slightly damaged LCD...

Now to back up the HDD contents... seems my only option is interlink, so first try to find out why it doesn't work. Well the COM port is disabled by default in the BIOS, and while I've seen the full BIOS setup page once I can only get it to show me the time/date adjustment... No manual around unfortunately, so got stuck until I thought of looking for BIOS combos for other Olivetti machines, but that gave me a result, Shift-Ctrl-Alt-Del and it worked.
So then install DOS 6.22 from floppies on another machine with an easily accessible drive slot I can throw a fresh CF in and take >1h to transfer 18MB...

5700G is much better. You are ignoring the improvements in IPC across the generations, like AMD just sat on their laurels from 2017 to 2021. (Who do you think they are, Intel?)

8 Zen 3 cores wipes the floor with 8 Zen 1 cores.

I would not want to use Zen 1 in a gaming PC now.

StarsMars got a reaction from casey9090909 in Should I Upgrade My CPU or MB?
There are multiple answers here depending on your needs and budget.

If you primarily play Tarkov, I would recommend getting an AMD x3d chip. That could be the 5700x3d 5800x3d 7800x3d and so on. Tarkov benefits from the extra L2 and L3 cache that x3d chips have.
Upgrading from a 9600 to a 9900k would help with the background applications, but I don't think you would see a monumental leap in gaming.

So imo, your options are to get a new motherboard and cpu. Potentially cooler and ram depending on the cpu you choose. You're looking at upwards of $500.
Or you could get a used 9900k, which would cost about $275 to $300 for a marginal upgrade. (not worth imo)

But then if you upgrade to a fast cpu, your 2060 is going to hold you back. Best option, hold out until you're ready for a new build.
The 9900k is a better chip but not a worth while upgrade for the cost imo.

I think the 5700x3d would be a solid move.

It depends on your budget, how much are you looking to spend on this upgrade? And how much is the CPU upgrade your looking to buy?

As long as your power supply says something like "100-250v 50/60hz", it will work anywhere in the world as long as you have a power cable with a C13 plug on one end and the local wall plug on the other.

You want at least a 16 gauge cable, to be safe.

StarsMars reacted to RONOTHAN## in Moving countries, changing power cable
Kinda. What matters is the current rating of the cable and how much will be going through them. With a 1000W Titanium unit after taking into account the efficiency at 115V, it can draw a max of 1111W from the wall, which will translate to 9.66A at 115V, which is quite a lot of current for most thinner. However, at 230V, the efficiency goes up so it's only drawing 1064W from the wall, and therefore only 4.63A at 230V, meaning you can get by with a much thinner cable.

Looking at that cable, it looks like it's spec'd at 10A, so it would be more than adequate for this scenario.

StarsMars reacted to Slizzo in Upgrading from 2019. How big of an upgrade?
If you're planning on going SFF, you're better off going AM5 + Zen 4 or Intel s1700 + 13th or 14th gen, IMO. If you want to keep your motherboard, 5800X3D all the way every day.

I would recommend a different approach than getting A+ and Net+ before your first job. There are free certs that are similarly valued by hiring managers.
    Google IT support
    IBM IT support
Even the certificate you get at the end of a Udemy course is worth mentioning.

Comptia is a "non profit" for profit. Their material and tests are arbitrary and expensive. I would only get them if you need them for a specific job, or if an employer/school is willing to pay for it.

For your first job, your best bet is going to be getting some of those free certs. Then apply like crazy. An MSP is a great way to get your foot in the door and a TON of experience.  After that, get all the certs you want.

StarsMars reacted to porina in Please help: Intel Core i9-11900KF with a H510M H V2 motherboard
Check exactly what was offered/agreed on. If the seller is not providing that, you can keep pushing as your local laws allow.

As for using that H510 mobo, it does officially support the 11900k. Without looking in detail, chances are it might have a weak VRM so it may limit you to recommended Intel power limits of 125W long term power. This could be lower performance than if you got a high end OC board which may default to unlimited power limit.

CPU provided lanes are still 4.0 as far as I know. Maybe the chipset provided lanes are 3.0 only, but that wont affect GPU. From the table you provided it doesn't have the extra connections for the CPU connected M.2 slot so it may limit NVMe SSDs.

The provided mobo doesn't have much in way of expansion, x16 CPU, x1 chipset, single M.2 and a handful of SATA. This could be limiting in future.

It's not the H designation that's the problem, but that it is a __10 tier chipset. H570 is basically higher position than B560. H510 is low end.

Keep in mind this is a 3 gen old CPU at this point. It isn't high end today, although still decent. I'm using a 11700k in my TV gaming system which is near enough the same.
