  1. It's not worth the $20 you're going to save. B550/X570 have better ram compatibility and pcie gen 4. From what I recall, x370 and x470 used kind of a generic chipset and "made it work."
  2. It might be better to go for the newer platform at this point. Leaves you better set for future upgrades.
  3. This is kind of what I was thinking. Thank you.
  4. Planning to pick up a used 3090. Primarily for the 24gb of vram. Playing around with production and ai software. However it's my personal machine and I still game from time to time. I'm running a 3700x at 1440p. Will the 3700x be a serious bottleneck at 1440p? Is it worth grabbing a 5800x3d or should I hold off?
  5. The heritage speakers look really nice. Wasn't sure if they were just a reskin of the ones I have now so I found this. https://www.reddit.com/r/Klipsch/comments/154ft7e/klipsch_promedia_21_thx_vs_promedia_heritage/ Basically he said it's a significant upgrade and well worth the price. Probably going to wait and find them on a deal since I was already happy with my speakers before a storm damaged them. Thank you. Maybe it's a fair assessment. I don't know a ton about subwoofers. Got into headphones for a while which is what I primarily use at the PC. (Fostex T20RP mkIII through a Schiit Magni Heresy if you're curious) I appreciate the advice. I will look for reviews of your suggestions.
  6. I've never seen it on sale for $60. It's going for $120 now and I bought mine when they were cut from $200 to $100 at bestbuy. Maybe I'm wrong, idk. So basically there's a gap between the promedia at 60-100 and $300 where you get into more enthusiast levels?
  7. Plenty of desk space. A 2.1 setup where I don't need an additional amp unless it can be added in the price range. What about the klipsch sub is crappy?
  8. My Klipsch 2.1 speakers are dying. Is there a 2.1 system anyone recommends these days? Would like to keep it under $200 unless it's something pretty special.
  9. Depends. Some brands don't handle warranties and RMA well. Sapphire has a good reputation.
  10. I think I understand your quetion. Basically because there's always room to push for more graphical processing. Where what the cpu cores are handling, there isn't as much overhead. There's just less demand. PC's are also doing more so the extra cores are handling other programs and processes.
  11. I hear the Sapphire Pulse is well designed. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fcBzK8/sapphire-pulse-radeon-rx-7800-xt-16-gb-video-card-11330-02-20g
  12. Are you launching it in Vulcan? If not, try that. I'll take a screenshot of my settings in r6 when I'm home. I had a similar issue in the past, just don't remember which setting was the culprit.
  13. Generally games hardware utilization moves in line with consoles. So 8 cores is what modern games are starting to be based around. That being said I think people are still find to do 6 core builds.
  14. Certain productivity software. Like some AI image generators that run locally can utilize it. If you don't know then you probably won't ever use it. Both have good video encoders for steaming. I say go for the 7800xt.
  15. Kinda sounds like the fans are plugged into a fan splitter and that is going into the pump header.
  16. I'd go with a 7800xt because you're going to get the 16gb of vram and a warranty. FSR is getting good. Will you be streaming or doing anything that requires cuda?
  17. Are you plugging into the graphics card or near the usb ports on the I/O? Does your TV have a PC option for the inputs?
  18. You could significantly expand your business if you get into active directory, it's the bread and butter of most businesses. But that's beyond the scope of a pc repair shop and more in line with an IT support company or managed service provider. It can't hurt to set up a small domain in your shop and poke around. I say go for it.
  19. 7950x - $625 Motherboard - $200 3080ti - Can be had for about $550 now used. 64gb of ddr5 - $160 2tb of storage - $150 1000w psu - roughly $130 Kraken x73 - $280 Phanteks case - $100 I got $2195 Considering it's used and a package deal, not individual components. I think offering between $1500 to $1600 seems fair like blaze said.
  20. From my understanding, the games that benefit from the additional cache, the more the better. Seems to be mostly games with large open worlds and tons of assets. So my logic is if you want an x3d chip, may as well get the most you can. Either choice is valid depending on their budget.
