  1. yeah, this confirms it. with the stock cooler, the system is silent. my Noctua cooler is damaged.
  2. absolutely and 100% sure now that is the CPU. I took the GPU out to be 100% sure and as soon as I open afterburner the CPU cooler enters airplane mode... the only thing that changed between yesterday and today is the new CPU cooler but even if my GPU fans somehow broke yesterday now that I remove it, it's definitely the CPU...
  3. yeah. that's why it confuses me so much...
  4. I installed a new cooler on my PC to replace the intel stock one, the cooler I bought is the Noctua NH l9x65 ( http://noctua.at/en/nh-l9x65 ) I wanted to benchmark temperatures so I launched MSI afterburner but as soon as I open it my CPU cooler got really Really REALLY loud. I don't mean loud as in "oh I can definitely hear that", I mean microwave loud. to make sure I did some CPU intensive tests and I ran some demanding games and the system was silent but running afterburner makes the CPU cooler and only the CPU cooler spike dramatically in noise. I added the low noise adapter thinking that maybe this cooler is not as good without it and even replace thermal paste but this time I cover all the surface with it and still the same, is my cooler damaged? or is this normal? if so why I never noticed it with the stock cooler? thanks!
  5. water?!! holy shite man!!! I don't even water-cool because in my brain water shouldn't be mixed with electronics haha
  6. I just bought a new CPU cooler to replace the intel stock one but I don't have isopropyl alcohol to remove the paste, I guess I could go and buy some but the truth is that I'm way too lazy to get out of my house just for alcohol. however I found a bottle of rubbing alcohol in my house, the bottle says that it's: "multi-purpose ethyl alcohol grade 80 (GL) (100%)". don't know what that means but can I use this alcohol to clean the paste? I figured better asked first, I don't want to damage my i7... thanks!
  7. I did that and stayed the same but after asking on 4 chan (i was desperate) turns out it's because the video it's a mp4 file with AVC codec and vegas has problems with that. the only solution is to convert them first to change the codec and then I can edit them properly so I guess I can't capture footage with my GPU if I want to edit it on vegas...
  8. I don't know if this is the best place to put this but I need help with my sony vegas 14... for some reason the videos I put in sony vegas to edit look weird. it's hard to explain, here's an example: it's not just games but any type of video I record... I tried recording something from my desktop, games and webcam and everything looks the same in sony vegas but if I play the file on windows player or vlc it looks perfect, so the problem is sony vegas as I tried to import the files to windows movie maker and Camtasia and there they look fine. it's not my computer specs because i have an i7 6700, 32 GB of ram and an r9 380. in fact vegas was working fine but then I updated my graphics card and then I got this problem and going back to previous drivers is not an option since i want the features of current drivers. i recorded with xplit, AMD relive, Camtasia and my webcam and the result it's always the same. the only way I've found to fix this is by converting the video to whatever format vegas read, I can even convert the video to the same format with the same resolution and it gets fixed what do I do??? help!!!
  9. the way I see it since you care about the freesync you should go AMD.
  10. all ddr4 ram will fit into any slot in your mobo as long as the sticks are the same speed you don't need to worry about the slots.
  11. I didn't knew where to put this sorry if it's the wrong place... anyways apparently AMD now has a new driver update that introduces "ReLive" wich is a competition for shadowplay. I was curious to see wich one is better and how different they are from each other and also wanted to test the "Radeon chill" feature, so I swap my 1070 to my old r9 380 and updated drivers, etc etc... now if I go to the Radeon settings app I have the ReLive tab but even if I enable everything there I don't get the toolbar to record desktop or take screenshots. I tried in-game but nothing and event tried the default hotkeys with no results. the system recognize the GPU and it has the latest drivers. could be that my GPU isn't supported but in their website AMD says ReLive is supported on r9 series... also for some reason, the Radeon app keeps saying that my driver version is 16.7.2 and there's a new one (16.12.1) but no matter how manny times i "update" and restart the PC the app stays in 16.7.2 and every time I finish updating its says that my installation was "partially complete" and then ask me to restart the PC...
  12. I'm using a 6700 on my rig right now, pretty good. between 6700 and 6600k the i7 is faster.
  13. I'm fairly new to the whole PC building deal and I recently learned how to monitor temperatures. I live in a latin-American country (really hot), my case is a 780t with 2 frontal intake fans and one exhaust fan (all 140) and I tested at idle and while gaming during 11am to 2pm for a whole week. my average is 29c at idle and 54c while gaming. but theoretically, if I were to use water cooling and add more fans it would be cooler right? so my question is: how cold can it get? 20c? 10c? and is there a point where the computer would start failing because it's too cold? also, what are your temps? just curious.
  14. I'm not very experienced with cases because since I've started with the whole PC building deal I have used only 2 cases, my current one is a graphite 780t and I've been using it for 3/4 months but it pretty much covers everything you're looking for (except price) it comes with 3 140 fans, it's really quiet, has a lot of space for air and extra fans and in my experience, it keeps the components really cool (34 c on average and 54 c while gaming for me) the only problem is that is over $100 but it is a great air cooling case.
  15. ok... soooo... can I put a 4 pin fan in the case and control it with the fan controller? or does it have to be plug in the motherboard because it has 4 pins? I understand that regardless of what I can plug the fan in my MOBO (z170-a) but I kinda like the little button on the front, ideally I want to plug all the fans to the built-in controller...
