that one's pretty decent, it's nothing I've heared of but I recognise the brand and the design of the cooler, 4 heat pipes is great spec

Basic single tower. Good for AMDs six core options, and the low TDP 8-cores(5700x). Thermalrights fantastic dual towers are cheaper and far better.

yes, I have AG400 + 5600, and it basically stays under 60C when nothing serious, and below 65-70C regardless of stress or not

I guess it depends how many background programs or any other programs you'd use, though 5600 isn't slow by itself (I have it myself)

the 5700x I guess is only useful for the extra 2 cores it provides, which in gaming translates to roughly 0-1% increase in performance,

so you'd be paying more for less gaming power increase 5700x vs 5600x, whre 5600 can lose the x and still perform like it's x variant with some tweaks

    I mean....even Ryzen 2600 was a pretty good cpu....but let's say....I want something from "the end of AM4/DDR4/PCIeX4" generation.
    Than.....knowing me.....I'm gonna skip a decade of upgrading.... 😄 😄 :D.....aaaand I'm gonna get....let's say....:AM50 generation. 😄

    I've put the wrong display.
It is this one....(I forgot one letter at the end "S")....

    Acer NITRO QG241Y S

P.S. It goes up to 165Hz on Display Port and it is connected with DP.

MMO's, New World was one. Star Citizen did, also the Battlefield games love crushing all the cores.

I don't have one from my 7900x but this was Star Citizen on a 7800x3D at 4K.

Beyond 6 it makes very little difference in the majority of games. Certain ones can and will utilize more, I have a few that will fully load up a Ryzen 9 7900x. The big difference though comes in generational architecture and/or x3D.

not really, though I'm not sure of 5700x3D wouldn't be better for gaming instead of 5800x

@PDifolco do you have overview on this comparison?

Should be okay, seems a decent cooler,  but not a great one
Get the XFX,  it should  clock a bit higher,  but the PSU requirements are pretty random often, what you need is not a ton of  power (5800 and 6800 needs max 450W, my system full  power draw with 5900X and 7900XTX is 600W..), it's "good " power, so a safe, good built PSU, even if it's a 650W one

Most of them, really - it would probably be faster to name brands to avoid. Basically if you've seen the LTT crew use the brand before in a somewhat serious build, it's good enough and comes down to customer support and local prices.

5800X has a TDP of 105W, product page rates TT TA310 for 170, you're good.

it depends, all should be, some handle warranty and customer support better than other, but mostly all should obey the law so the brand doesn't really matter,

    same chip different brand,
it's likely that one card is let to drink more wattage while other isn't, I can see white despite having same clock speed, one card has slightly bigger heatsink,

it's either the heatsink/performance ratio o scaling, or it's the same reason why 7600x is 105W and 7600 is 65W CPU, and both perform almost the same with the exception of 7600x clocking slightly higher on basic settings

    Rough build says yes.
Do note that you'll need to shell for a CPU cooler though - 5800X does not come with a stock one.

Yes, SOME boards work with Zen +, not all of them. Bunch of B550 chipsets supports only Ryzen 3xxx, 5000x series cpus.
But he should consider that his ram MIGHT NOT work on 3200MT/s, but rather 2933.....cause that is what Ryzen 5 2600 supports.
    B450 chipset should be cool.
He can try Gigabyte, MSI....there are affordable boards....60-70 $/€.

Killjoy_NS reacted to YoungBlade in How do you judge Graphics cards?
PCIe 4 is twice as fast as PCIe 3, but this only matters if the PCIe bandwidth itself is a performance limiting factor, which it rarely is. It matters for cards like the RX 6500XT, because it only has a x4 connection. However, when it comes to cards like the RX 6600 or RTX 4060, it doesn't really matter in practice that they have a x8 connection. Even the mighty RTX 4090 doesn't show a meaningful performance loss when going down to a PCIe 3 connection, because it has a full x16 interface.

It's not that there's no performance loss at all when using a x8 interface going from PCIe 4 to 3, but it's not meaningful. For the vast majority of games, it's within 5%.

That's unfortunate that the RX 6700XT is so much more expensive in your country. It's probably not worth paying 2x the price for, as it's only about 40-50% faster than the RX 6600.

Killjoy_NS reacted to Eigenvektor in ram + motherboard compatibility
The QVL only tells you which RAM has been tested for compatibility. It does not tell you which RAM is incompatible. If it is not on that list, it simply hasn't been tested by the manufacturer, nothing more.

Don’t overthink the ram this much.
Also the standard hasn’t changed for as long as ddr has been around, it’s been the same speed/timings/ecc or non ecc for a long time.
QVL stuff is peace of mind but it’s super limited testing, and shouldn’t be relied on since it narrows down the perceived options so much.

You have 3200mhz desktop ddr4 dimms. Thats about all you need to care about. It will work in basically any motherboard that takes desktop ddr4 dimms.
Any motherboard that has an AM4 socket, and I mean literally any of them, will support that ram.

Its still magnitudes slower than ram. you are still using microseconds to milliseconds as a unit rather than nanoseconds to micro seconds as a unit of time that you would use with ram.

    SSDs are not Optane.
