  1. Lineage OS software is a good start. Used that rom base on my Nexus 4, and my LG G3 with no problems.
  2. With a Root system on ZFS mirror... if the drive with boot partition fails, how difficult is it to recover/reinstall it to be able to boot again? EDIT: Forgot to mention, the boot partition is forced to be FAT so not able to be restored by ZFS
  3. Looking for some HBA recommendations for a NAS server i'm setting up. Current Mobo is M5A97 LE R2.0 Link (Will eventually update this to a more proper board in the future.) Looking for a setup of 3 4port HBA's to eliminate SPoF in my array. Looking for cheap but not absolute crap. Found https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816124064&ignorebbr=1 on sale on newegg which would serve me nicely in terms of ports per card and its connectivity to the system. Any advice would be appreciated.
  4. yeah its Windows line endings but when i switch to Unix style i dont get the error, however line 1 ends up as command not found.
  5. oops... heres a curveball i forgot to mention... doing this on Windows with Linux on Windows Subsystem... and .sh made with notepad.
  6. OK, that works to do with creating the folders, so thats progress, however, terminal output is ./test.sh: line 1 $'\r': command not found ./test.sh: line 2 $'\r': command not found
  7. Trying to make bash script to make handbrake encodes with CLI, but I run into a weird issue when creating folders. Creating directories .sh file mkdir test1 mkdir test2 mkdir test3 returns mkdir: cannot create directory 'test1\r': No such file or directory mkdir: cannot create directory 'test2\r': No such file or directory And test3 gets created. Same thing happens when I try to escape at EOL with \ What am I doing wrong?
  8. A friend of mine has a weird zfs setup that he'd like fixed... Elementary OS RaidZ1 4tb 4tb 4tb 4tb (2x2tb HW RAID) My question is, can I fail out the 2x2TB one and rebuild with a proper 4tb drive in it's place without any data loss?
  9. I would reccommend Raid5 at minimum, I have lost 2 full 4TB drives worth of content before in the span of 3 months because they werent part of an array.
  10. Wanting to start myself a local storage box (SMB) running Linux, which will also double as a Plex server. Want to keep noise and heat down as roommate would complain. Asus P6T Deluxe V2 motherboard I7 920 stock speed and possibly undervolt Chassis TBD 12 - 16 HDD bays HDD's TBD (High Capacity, 5400rpm ???) In RaidZ2 or RaidZ3 with a live spare. One concern I'd have is if when most or maxxed on drives and initial power draw causes circuits to break, is there a possibility of staggered HDD starts via software or would I need special hardware to do that? If even possible...
  11. Curious how many Molex to SATAx2 adapters I can use in a storage upgraded machine before issues would occur if any... 430W "PowerMan" PSU to Power: AMD FX 6300 (Usage always 95-100% as this is a Video Encoding Machine) 1 DVD Burner and 5 HDD's (4 will be in a Raid5 Array) Would it be safe to just use the adapters? or should I spend the extra cash and get a proper PSU with all the connections that i need?
  12. An i3 (or any dual core equivilent) will suffice unless you are coding a game, otherwise you will need more power. Also maybe more processing power if you are building something that takes a while in the compiler stage...
  13. Cant seem to find what it is... Just the regular one, no LS LX or LE versions, just the basic Force 3
  14. I believe I have just done it successfully, and the dying drive is not connected to the system. Found a program called AOEMI Partition assistant that did what I needed and used Gparted Live to set partion to boot flag. So it IS possible. just annoying though...
  15. Needing to move Win10 EFI System Partion to another drive, preferably to same drive that my OS is on, as my secondary SSD which I use for games is failing on me... Also possibly recovery partition.
