I use dsl (i think I highly doubt it's dial up and I live in the mountains so no cable) I do not have an anti virus on my PC but I do believe that my relatives do on one of the tablets and I got do use the internet during peek times but it doesn't change their performance when I'm gone (I leave for at least a week at a time) now for my router it's a ralink RT2880 we are supposed to get 2224kb/s when I download anything I don't go over 270kb/s. Protocol ADSL2+ on canal or channel 3 if that helps at all

Alright, this might be pretty simple and I hope so, we have the worst internet provider in my country ("free" in France) and use the stock router, whenever I am at work ( when my PC is off) the Internet for my relatives is fine, stream series no problem but whenever my computer is on and does the slightest bit of internet use (Reddit, YouTube, Online games) they can't even load a web page, they don't use computers they use Android tablets but they get pretty annoyed when I'm around and I'm sick of their complaining, we have 7 wifi capable and constantly connected devices (including my PC and phone which are not connected when I'm gone) and they have "tried it all" without spending any money or doing any research. So here I am begging for the community to help a fellow man out as I have no idea what to do, thanks and peace out.

It's my FIRST build, sadly I live like you Canadians in a country where computer component prices are horrible, take a look at this list, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QgxRyf, and on amazon.fr, the price is near 2000, what I nightmare, if any of you are Frenchies out there, help a brother out, please, the prices here are RIDICULOUS. Anyhow is there any "optimisation" to be done, a ssd is a nice upgrade and the power supply is overkill because I plan a 1070 sli. Thanks in advance

Ok so I'm living at my parents house in France and I'm slowly troubleshooting my way threw random problems we have at home and one thing I've noticed is our WiFi and wired connections were slower compared to our neighbors who have the same network provider, to put this into perspective i have steam download rates and data usage from the task manager and yes some of it's in french. This first image is connected to a router witch is a flour below me. This second image is connected to a router witch is 2 flours above me I do not understand why this is, we have the same router, the same cables, the same building there are only 2 routers so interference shouldn't be that much of a problem (or is it?) i don't understand.

BTW i also think that a ssd is the answer to all my problems but why did i have to get the hungry for drives laptop -_-'

i took it apart to solder the charger port back on because the connections were shit, it broke again so i took it apart and hard wired the charger cable to the laptop cables

not if it's in hibernate mode, but it might be heat it got really hot but that's weird that no other laptop mike mine has this problem...

i got a external laptop cooler with 6 fans running at 800 rpm

i did, and it died quicker, i tried seagate, kingston and WD

to be honest when i build my new amazing sexy pc, i'll buy an ssd to try but who knows i also didn't try any NAS drives but i don't have a clue if they make them in 2.5...

I have been guilty of moving around the house with it but when i moved it was or in hibernation or off and no my drives were not refurbished

ok so i have been having a problem with my acer laptop for years, to keep it short i got it in 2011/2012 and it has killed 5 hard drives, I didn't try using an ssd because they were too expensive, what would happen was the same thing every time, the laptop would start being slow and it wouldn't boot, it would restart until no boot device was recognized and that is because the discs stopped spinning, i have tried taking the hdd apart (that failed) i used a WD black, that died after a month of using it and now i use a boot usb linix drive to use my laptop. i don't remember the model but it has a Geforce 610m and a i7 520m i think. i gave up on it but i want to know why it did that and acer won't reply to my e-mails so, f*$@k 'em.

Granted but, isn't it worth the hassle for that overkill power? I guess I could get another 1080 when they get cheaper if I need it
