  1. Magic Actions doesn't solve it for this, the option to go above 720p just isn't in the menu at all.
  2. YouTube has an issue that's pretty widespread, locking users accounts to a specific resolution. Mine's locked at 720p. It isn't every user but definitely not isolated. YouTube support forums and Reddit have multiple reports and according to @TeamYouTube twitter they're investigating but it's been reportedly happening for 2+ days for some with no fix. Only on accounts, not devices. If you log out of your account, full resolution options are available again. https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/9uyvia/resolution_stuck_at_720p_across_all_devices_on/ https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/9uy72v/youtube_only_allowing_me_to_play_music_videos_in/ https://productforums.google.com/forum/?nomobile=true#!topic/youtube/B1k_WnSmYdQ;context-place=forum/youtube
  3. I know Ryzen has some RAM considerations, I'm looking at 8GB on 1 stick, if anyone has any suggestions for that that is known to work or should work fine I'd appreciate it!
  4. Hello everyone! I'm building a budget PC for a gift for someone, and I'm trying to decide between the Ryzen 3 or the Pentium G4560. I know the Ryzen offers a great value, but the Pentium is fine for gaming at 1080p in a budget rig and shaves some money off. This is not going to be overclocked as it's a gift and I want stability to be ensured, so that takes Ryzen's big advantage away mostly. I'm trying to see the pros and cons from another perspective so I can get going here. I know I really can't miss with either just looking for some helpful feedback! Thanks!
  5. I've considered it, but her current laptop is AMD and she doesn't like it too much so I was trying to avoid it. I'll see how a Ryzen 3 build shapes up tho
  6. The sitch: I need to find the smallest and most budget compact gaming PC possible. Budget around $450-500, with some margin for more if the upgrade is worth the cost. Failing this, a comparable laptop in this price range. I know of a few but it's slim pickin' This is what I've gotten so far that I'm happy with. I'd prefer a slim HTPC case like the Node 202 with the PSU included but an ITX desktop case is agreeable as well. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JkHMqk This is a gift for my sister, as her laptop is failing and she wants to upgrade. She wants to keep it small, as her apartment is limited in space, and she prefers a laptop but I've sold her on a small desktop for upgradability and such. I've come up with this so far and I'm looking for places to shave cost and keep it as compact as possible.
  7. Hello all, I've been in the market for a second display for my PC, and I can't seem to find a decent 1080p IPS monitor with Vesa compatibility, preferably with DVI for input, that costs less than $149 USD. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm ok with going a bit above that price if it hits all the right notes. Thanks!
  8. http://engt.co/2uBw54H Intel has announced a new form factor SSD with a petabyte capacity that they're calling the "ruler." It fits in a server rack, and is said to be coming with both Optane and 3D NAND options "in the near future." That's freaking nuts! It makes me want to get a server rack at home to make a multi-petabyte storage server just for fun lol. I'd imagine they aren't cheap though.
  9. I would add more drives lol for RAID 5 it depends on my budget at the time which I'd go with. i need new drives either way since they aren't exact matches in the system I have presently
  10. Probably RAID 1 or RAID 5, it's mostly for movies and games storage, maybe some overflow files
  11. Hey, I'm looking to re-purpose a PC for use as a NAS and I was curious what I would need and if the parts I currently have are any good for use as a NAS. Also, if anyone could suggest a good NAS PC case that has hot-swap bays that supports microATX boards since that's what I'm working on atm and I'd like to keep the budget as low as possible and replace as few parts as possible. Here's the build I have: AMD a10 7860K APU (I have a lower power APU to replace this one since I don't need the higher end graphics, both came with the system) AsRock micro ATX mobo 8 GB ddr3 RAM (1 stick) 450W PSU 2 500 GB HDD which I plan on replacing with NAS drives. thanks!
  12. Yea, I'm aware of the limited selection but luckily I have a bit of time so hopefully the stock rebounds in the coming months
  13. She likes to play Overwatch a lot, and otherwise, she's not playing anything crazy demanding. Minecraft, Stardew Valley, TF2, and some Skyrim. She doesn't play anything too demanding but I'd like to future-proof her for a while and with 1000 bucks I can do a lot
  14. Hello everyone. I'm building a gaming PC for my sister, and she has 2 requirements: As small as possible, and under $1000 USD including peripherals. She doesn't care too much about gaming performance, she's happy with 1080p 60 fps range as long as it runs. I have a solid general idea of a SFF build for it with a 1050 Ti and either an i5 or Ryzen 5 CPU. I'm trying to figure out if Ryzen 5 or an i5 provides more value at this level. I've done cheaper builds with i5 but I'm mainly curious how Ryzen performs when compared to something like a i5 7600 or 7500
