AlphaPolack reacted to AlexanderYaw123 in Experience wash ram using dishwashing liquid
Last time my ram is suc*, when i start my pc the beep code is not normal( 1 long beep). Then i ask some people and they said maybe your ram is suc*. After that i searched some website about ram, i searched one of the website said If your ram is suc*, using dishwashing liquid to wash it. I brought some expensive dishwashing liquid and try to wash and clean the golden chip side on the ram. Finally,i plug the ram in and power up my pc. My pc just run smoothly. I will know u all say that this is FAKE,but trust me i tried many times when my ram is suc*.This is not FAKE.

If you get 3466MHz RAM you can set it manually to 3200 and it will work just fine.

AlphaPolack reacted to adm0n in best not too-expensive compound to clean thermal paste from CPU and acc.?
I got 100ml of 100% (I think that is not true ...) isopropyl alcohol for under 2€, so it's pretty cheap.
But I remember Linus saying, that 70% would be enough as well : D

AlphaPolack reacted to Squish4058 in M.2 SSD and RAID0 setup not working
have you checked your motherboard manual. Some motherboards share the same data lanes for 1 of the sata ports and the m.2 slot. Thus when you connect stuff to both only one works.
Unplug all sata connections and leave the M.2 in
Plug a single or two sata cables in at once trying them in ALL the sata ports you have

AlphaPolack reacted to rn8686 in Motherboards and m.2
The M.2 will work fine with your motherboard. Why an 850 evo M.2? It is a SATA M.2, so it isnt any faster than a regular SSD. If you want faster storage, get an NVME M.2 (These are expensive though).

AlphaPolack reacted to martin.dutton in Samsung 950 Pro M.2 boot issues if RAID is enabled
Thanks AlphaPolak - that explains the WD Green then needing to be moved.
No, there's nothing in the manual about RAID and M.2 - have read and re-read it a number of times. Since my post though I was able to find a couple of posts on Tom's Hardware appearing to experience the same issue - BOIS dropping the M.2 if RAID was enabled, this is on both Z97 and X99 boards.
Seems really odd if it's 'normal' behaviour and I would have expected it to be more up-front if truly a thing - M.2 and RAID are both quite prosumer/enthusiast setups, so I would have thought this outcome quite common.

Well, the BIOS time is maybe 3 seconds if that? And there's nothing you can really do about that anyway

AlphaPolack reacted to Canada EH in any reccomended m.2 slot ssds?
This is why we need Linus to explain this stuff to us lowly common people.
Or take some interest in a multi K post user.
Me's thinks Enderman fits the latter.

AlphaPolack reacted to LaughingMan in Samsung 256GB 950 Pro M.2
Hey guys,
It's my first post here so be gentle
I was thinking about getting a fast SSD for every day use - it is not supposed to be a boot drive. I already have SSD to boot from (Plextor M6S series 256GB), and I am pretty happy with the performance.
What I had in mind was primarily "gaming" drive to speed up loading up things (ex. new Deus Ex takes quite a long time to get out of the metro - I guess stations are pretty far away in Prague).
I did not decide on anything yet, but I saw Samsung 950 PRO m2 drive for, lets say, not to outrageous price. As my mobo does not have m2 connector I though about using m2 to PCIe 3.0 x4 card. But i do not think I have this either. There is however perfectly fine PCIe 2.0 x16 slot. I know PCIe is backward compatible, but are there any other issues I might run into when connecting this m2 drive through m2 to PCIe 3.0 x4 card into PCIe 2.0 x16 slot xD.
Another thing that worries me a bit is that most of this m2 to PCIe cards look really crappy. They are cheap thou.

AlphaPolack reacted to pcshme33 in Is getting a NVMe or any M.2 Worth it over SSD?
Raid 0 isn't really worth it. I would just get one large ssd and a m.2 for my boot drive.
Yes, it can boot windows.
