  1. No I have not messed with the voltages. I will try that tomorrow as I have given up for the night. What do you mean the size and bit?
  2. I installed Ubuntu off the USB stick. Here's the ram: https://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-Savage-1600-Memory-Module/dp/B00N9PVZAC?th=1&psc=1
  3. I've restarted both power line adapters and both router and I am still getting > 1 meg. if I take out the second router and just have the Ethernet cable going straight into my laptop I get the expected 7 meg down.
  4. Ah right. Sorry no. The matchine doesn't boot at all with 4 gigs. I've tried installing Windows when I've had just the HDD installed and again with just the SSD installed with no luck. The boot order is the HDDs first then the memory stick. If I want to install from the memory stick I press f12 I believe it is to get to the boot menu and select the stick with Windows on it
  5. Hi all, The wifi in my attic room is awful so when I saw Linus talking about power line adapted I bought some. I have one downstairs plugged straight into the wall mains connected to the main router and one in the attic plugged into a router. Both power line adapters are tp-link and the router is a d-link dir-615. Mathis setup worked great for the first couple of days where I was getting 10 Mbps down and 3-4 up. After a couple of days I noticed YouTube buffering a lot so I did another speed test where I got 0.7 down and even less up. The attic only has one mains socket. I've tried the same setup on the floor below the attic and I'm still only getting 0.7 down.
  6. i have reset the cmos multiple times and I even used fail safe settings. My apologies, I dont one understand what you mean by the 2nd point.
  7. I did all that and found that it actually wouldn't boot from1 stick of ram. I was thinking it could be the mobo too but I just wanted some more opinions. I will probably buy a mobo. Any suggestions on a decent one at a reasonable price. I'm on a budget. About $130/£100 is the max I can spend
  8. It crashes when the test gets to more than 4gb. I had a college do the test and it worked fine in his machine. Thanks for for the suggestion though!
  9. My machine crashes when trying to install Windows. On Windows 7 installation it gets to the logo then freezes and I have to restart. I have an installation of Ubuntu but if it uses more than 4GB of RAM it crashes and restarts. The specs; CPU: Intel i5 655K GPU: EVGA GeForce 650 PSU: 650W RAM 4x4GB (16GB) hyper X savage mobo: gigabyte ga-p55-usb3 HDDs: sandisk 240GB SSD plus & 1tb WD blue
