MadOrc got a reaction from -rascal- in Which GPU to buy for 1080p 144Hz+ esports games?
230fps sounds really nice, I'll def look into it. And, I think R6 has gotten better about hackers recently, I'd recommend giving it another go

MadOrc reacted to orbitalbuzzsaw in Potential 8086K upgrade
Don't waste your money on an 8086K, get an 8700K, a delidding tool and some high performance thermal paste

MadOrc reacted to aisle9 in Potential 8086K upgrade
An i7-8700K is more or less the same thing. An 8086K is just a heavily binned 8700K. The 8086K is a collector's item moreso than a worthwhile cornerstone for your system.

MadOrc reacted to Crunchy Dragon in Potential 8086K upgrade
Get an 8700K instead of an 8086K. They're basically the same CPU and the 8700K costs less.

Vivobooks are generally meh.
Consider Lenovo Yoga 720 15 or 730 15

MadOrc got a reaction from Megah3rtz in My First BuiId
The error just means that your M.2 SSD will disable some SATA ports, so the total number of SATA drives will be decreased. Overall a very good build, but other GTX 1080's will have sightly better performance and be much cheaper. I recommend this one: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487244&cm_re=gtx_1080-_-14-487-244-_-Product
You would save almost $100CAD and get better looks (in my opinion) and better performance.

MadOrc reacted to OsuMasterz in GTX 1080 block on a 1070?
If the Asus GTX 1070 Strix follows a reference PCB design, you can use this block.
https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc1070-gtx-nickel
That block will also work though

MadOrc reacted to EvilPenguinSon in SSD Startup Drive - What's the Sweet Spot?
Thanks! There was a time where I had a 60 GB SSD with Windows 7 installed on it and it barely cut it. After getting Windows updates installed, the usage was showing in the red (roughly 10 percent remaining of the capacity) - prior to having anything installed.

MadOrc got a reaction from EvilPenguinSon in SSD Startup Drive - What's the Sweet Spot?
I would only use a min of 240gb because 120gb just isn't enough for more than just basic files and a few small games. Anything more isn't entirely necessary, but nice to say the least.

Says right on the site and ek's site that it will fit.
-
MadOrc reacted to Denned in Waterblock tubing size?
I would depend on the fitting you're going to use. The block it self just have 1/2 inch thread for the fitting to be screwed into
-
MadOrc reacted to Lurick in Waterblock tubing size?
All blocks standardize on G1/4 threaded fittings, the tubing size you use depends on the size of the other half of the fitting, ex: 10/13, 10/16, etc. also if you're going hard or soft tubing as well. Soft tubing you need the ID (inner-diameter) and OD (outer-diameter) of the tubing to be the same on the fitting and for hardline you only care about the OD of the tubing matching the fitting.
-
MadOrc reacted to W-L in Waterblock tubing size?
That's a link to a GPU but you determine the size of tubing and fittings used either hardline or soft tubing, the threads as mentioned are all the same standard G1/4 fitting.

MadOrc reacted to slightlyjaded in High-end wireless gaming headset
steelseries H- wireless/ syberia 800. About as good as it gets.
Be aware that any of the completely wireless solutions I've seen on the market are a compromise. The headphones aren't as good as a pair of top end Headphones for the same price, and you'll be paying as much for the wireless and battery technology as you are for the audio tech.

Yup, one has about 100 MHz higher frequencies outta the box. It's the "OC" edition.
