  1. I think i fixed it. When i went to: Control Panel -> Clock, Language, and Region -> Change Location -> Administrative -> Copy settings.. Current user and Welcome screen reported correctly English(United States) everywhere (except for Input language which displays English(United States) - Italian), but the new user account displayed Italian everywhere. I just checked New user accounts and pressed ok and now seems ro work just fine! It sounds stupid to me that i had to force new accounts into english in order to obtain such a simple thing but ok.. Now it works. Sorry for the self-fixed/replied topic. I hope it can be useful to someone else.
  2. No, everything is in english except for the keyboard layout for obvious reasons. I don't want cortana, i just want the same thing you can see in the first image, but working. I'll attach a couple of examples: This is what it looks like when i type "mouse", but as i said in the op if i click on it or press enter it doesn't do anything And this is the menù i would like to open. You can see that it's in english
  3. Hi everybody, I bought a new notebook a couple of weeks ago and set it up as usual, off course in my native language. About a week after that, after installing everything i needed (it took about 2 full days.. i need quite a lot of stuff and it has an HDD just to slow things down) i figured: why don't i just use english. It will be easier for troubleshooting too! So i downloaded the language pack and set everything up and now almost everything is perfect. I don't like cortana so i just use the "ask me anything" thingy. It's very useful but now suggestion such as "mouse", "updates" and everything else are in italian nad when i click they don't do anything. I should probably say that the system language and everything is now in english except for the keyboard.. the physical layout is in italian so of course i'm using the standard italian layout for that. It' really annoying because instead of just writing stuff like "update" and press enter i have to go through all the settings. Strange thing: if i type "settings" it suggests the correct one in english and lets me open it. Do you guys have any idea how to fix it? Sorry for the broken english.
  4. Thank you for the answers. Unfortunately none of them fixed the problem. I even tried hibernation mode and got the same result. When i removed grub i thought that the windows boot loader was enough, i didn't know it was a bad idea. And i've never heard of the fast boot/shutdown thing before then
  5. Hi everybody! I have a dual boot system Windows10/Ubuntu14.04 on my primary SSD and a mass storage HDD. I'll tell you the whole story because i think this is where the problem came from. I used to have the windows boot loader who could recognize both windows and linux. The problem was that whenever i had to login into ubuntu, the computer rebooted and showed me grub2. So I had to choose again ubuntu in order to start the system up. Quite annoying I'd say. So I decided to get rid of grub, and after a few attempts i managed to do it. I restarted the system a few times in order to make sure that everything was worlking properly and it did. Fast forward to 3-4 days later. I've only used windows in the meantime and it's working just fine, but when i tried to boot into ubuntu an error occurs. I figure out that the problem is grub missing, even though that day everything worked. So I reinstall grub and get rid of the windows launcher instead with this guide. Now i can finally use ubuntu! The problem is that windows 10 now doesn't shut down or suspend anymore! After googling for a bit the problem i find out this other guide. The second part of the guide fixes the shut down problem, but it seems more like a poor patch than a real fix. I mean, it works, but it doesn't explain what went wrong. In fact suspension mode (maybe it's called sleep mode in english, not sure though) still doesn't work, and i used to use it quite a lot! What i mean by "doesn't work" is this: when i press shut down or sleep, the monitor turns off and it blocks the current session but everything (lights, fans, ecc) remains on. Does anyone have any idea of what happend or how could i fix it? Thanks in advance! (Sorry for the poor english, I'm not a native speaker)
