  1. So i've had my 7800x3d since December and it's been a glorious CPU, temps are perfect never going above 65c on normal gaming loads and 83c at 100% using Furmark. Today i turned on my computer, everything was normal and i started doing some simple web browsing, with no important background apps running. I started my hearing my AIO ramping up and i checked my temperatures and saw it was at 83c under a 5-10% load. Only the CPU was hot, my AIO was running normally, at least the fans because i could hear them and everything else was normal. That's never happened to me before so i just restarted the computer and everything was back to normal. As of now it was a one time thing, everything is normal i did a stress test and everything was good but i have no idea why that happened and i was hoping someone could elaborate. Im using an ASUS rog strix B650E-F mobo (Bios was updated to the current version at the time i built it, around december 2023) and the cooler is a Corsair iCUE H100i RGB Pro XT.
  2. I have an h100i rgb pro xt aio but i want to replace the fans on it to match my other rgb fans on the system. The radiator originally has ML120 fans but afaik they are discontinued. Which corsair fans would be a good replacement without breaking the bank? I'm running 6 AF120 on the case intake and i need 3 more fans (2 for radiator and 1 as exhaust at the back). Cheapest ones are the SP120 rgb elite 3pack, are they any good or should i look for another model?
  3. Thanks, i'll go with the cheaper version then. Sorry for the stupid question i don't know much about PSUs.
  4. I'm choosing a psu for a new am5 build, i'm not sure what's the difference between the shift version and the normal rmx, i know it has a PCIe 5.0 cable for newer gpus but i'm not sure if anyone would like to clarify for me. Also, if PCIe 5.0 is actually the main difference, would the normal rmx work if i'm using a motherboard with PCIe 5.0?
  5. I'm keeping my rtx 3070 until new gpus come out, it's the rest of the system i'm changing, including the case. That's why i'm not sure which case to go for, it will fit regardless but i'm not sure newer gpus will fit on the 4000d. It doesn't have to be 4000d/5000d, i just thought i would look nice since i already have a corsair AIO and corsair fans, and the case already comes with 3 corsair rgb fans. I could go for another case around the same price and just get the rest of the fans separately, which one would you recommend?
  6. I'm deciding on a case for a new system, i really like de 4000d but i'm wondering as GPUs seem to be increasing in size and lenght, is the 4000d enough or should i go for a 5000d? I've seen it fit some big rtx 4090 with barely enough space between the front fans (front AIO + big gpu is a no), but is that good for cooling?. I thought about a 5000d but it's more expensive and i wouldn't be needing the extra fan spaces since i'm just going to use a 240 AIO on the top. What would you recommend? PD: Will GPUs keep on getting bigger? I don't want to replace the 4000d when the 5000 nvidia series come out.
  7. I have a spare, unopened Corsair h100i rgb pro xt from February 2021. It has been sitting all this time, is it still safe to use?. I'm planning to build a new system with the 7800x3d, if i can't use it, then which cooler would you recommend, AIO or air, as long as it's quiet and cool enough.
  8. Thanks for all the replies, sheets and videos, i think i'm closer to making a decision now, leaning towards the asus rog strix b650e-f and the MSI mag b650 tomahawk. Since i'll be using it for gaming i don't there there's a big difference between m.2 5.0 vs 4.0, there's almost no difference between a 3.0 even. I still haven't decided if PCIe 5.0 is worth the extra 50$ on the asus board, but i'll probably go with one of those two.
  9. The MSI MAG b650 tomahawk was/is maybe an option as it is way cheaper than other options, but it lacks PCIe 5.0 and gen 5 M.2 slots (i think it has only 2 gen 4). As i'm planning to use it for such a long time i think it's smart to invest in a higher end mobo.
  10. The rog strix b650e-f looks nice and as far as i can tell checks all the marks on my OP, since you have it can you tell me if you've had any issues with it with the current BIOS? I'm talking about the usual stuff i see online, does the ram run smoothly at 6000mhz? does it have any instability issues? I'm using Gskill Z5 neo cl30 6000mhz.
  11. So recommendations? this only proved my point, it seems like there's always an issue no matter where i look. I understand that ASUS issues where almost half a year ago so it's not hard to believe everything is fixed now, but i still don't know which MOBO suits my needs best. Do i need b650? x670? b650e? Which brand, what model? Is PCIe 5.0 worth it considering i want to keep the system for at least 5 years?. I know it's a lot of questions but it does get pretty tiring trying to do research and just going in circles for weeks, every time i decide for a board i google it and discover people telling me to avoid them.
  12. I'm planning on upgrading to AM5 this november-december but i've had a really hard time trying to find a good mobo to pair the 7800x3d with. I'm using my system primarily for gaming and really don't need a lot of fancy stuff, but i also don't want to buy something that's going to be outdated or give me issues. It seems like every time i like a board there's people saying to stay away from it, ASUS for example, i was also thinking about a b650 gigabyte aorus elite but people say all gigabyte boards have awful coil whine issues, i really don't know what to do i just want something that works. I'm not an overclocker (I just plan on using EXPO on a CL 30 6000mhz ram). I also would like at least 1 gen 5 nvme slot and at least 2 gen 4. I also don't really know if i need PCIe 5.0. I know it doesn't really have a use right now as all GPUs are 4.0, but since i usually upgrade my system (apart from GPU) every 5-7 years, i don't know if it's a good idea to have PCIe 5.0 or just stick with 4.0. Budget is the usual, around 200, unless there's a more expensive option that has a MUST for my needs (Considering i want to keep it for at least 5 years).
  13. I think i'll go with the 7800x3d. Which MBs would you recommend max 250$, the gigabyte b650 looks nice but i like to see all my options before deciding, also i heard asus mbs are a big nono right now is that true? I wanted to get a white MB but it looks like ASUS is the only one making them, at least for my budget.
  14. Im not worried about mobo and ram budget right now, my idea is to buy the cpu now since there are a lot of discounts going on rn and get the mobo by end of november. As for the CPU, i've seen the 7800X3D (its on sale on amazon rn i think) in pretty much every website whenever i search for the best gaming cpu, but i also read is a little bit slower in non-gaming related things, is that really noticeable?. Also, how does it compare with the i7-13700k/kf or the i5 13600k?
  15. I'm not as tech savvy as most people in here so i thought i could get a more realistic answer here. I have a i7 8700k + rtx 3070, my cpu is almost 7 years old, i'm well aware that it's still a very capable gaming cpu but i was thinking about upgrading my rig and get into DDR5. I use my pc mainly for gaming at 1440p. What are my best options? budget for cpu is around 350$. I mainly want to avoid CPU-GPU bottlenecks in the future and have a cpu that is going to last me another 7 years.
