So it looks like I could probably sell my current 1070 for the roughly the same price as I could buy a 1080, seems like a no brainer. Is there anything I'm missing/need to bear in mind? My PSU can handle a 1080, I'm running a 4770k w/16gb RAM, so not worried about bottlenecking; and it seems like a logical upgrade, my CPU's not on it's last legs yet or anything so GPU would have been my next upgrade anyway I think, just obviously much sooner than I had anticipated...

Yeah I'd probably start with a refresh then move on to a reinstall if (when) it persists, just to confirm you've ruled it out.

I'd try the above steps (try iGPU in a game, switch PCI slots, reinstall drivers, maybe check your windows also) before RMA'ing it, also if you have a riser or something like that, try removing that from the equation also. (I got the PCI light turn on having previously been fine, was my riser that was on the fritz.)

Not very tech related but did anyone else pick up the horrible background noise going on in the music track. Sounds like the moment just before an old fashioned kettle starts to whistle the whole way through, pretty annoying!

I use a Sony Bravia KDL-40W905A, is pretty old now; so idk if you'd find one, maybe you can find a modern equivalent in their lineup? It had 0 overscan issues for me out of the box (not literally I got it Ex-Display on the cheap ) and particularly low response times for a large TV display. Generally really nice imo, snapped it up without looking into it and didn't notice that much difference between my monitor and that, aside from the picture was much nicer and also larger (obvs). Looked at reviews after I played around with it for a bit and found out about the lower than usual response. It's not quite as snappy as my monitor, but I choose it every time nonetheless. EDIT; Had a bit of a nose around and it looks like a new model equivalent would be outside of your price range; so maybe a second hand model? Or like Genwing suggests, one where you can manually control it. (Try and find one where you can control it from the controls on the actual TV; I just bought a second hand TV for my steam link and I can't control the overscan from the generic control provided with it, GRRRR)

Yeah this was pretty bad and that response was also bad. Unimpressed all round.

I'm running a 1070 at the moment, was underwhelmed by the performance in ARK (obvs it's a EA title and not really optimised or w/e). Try tweaking; the graphics option checkboxes (one of them, maybe distance field shadowing or distance field AO, had a really noticeable difference) Sky quality - I turn this down to much lower than the game set it IIRC, makes stuff clearer and easier to spot as well Clutter Density/Clutter Draw distance - If you just max these out it hits your performance pretty hard I think I'll check my settings and report back! EDIT; I uploaded a screenshot of my settings, turned on stuff/turned up stuff until I stopped getting 60 fps (these settings (all eyeballed) got me 60-90fps averaging 70-80fps on test runs across the swamp, through the plains, past the mountain and into the forest then back again. This is on; i7 4770k @ 4.5, 16gb 2133 DDR3, GTX 1070 running off a standard SSD at 1080p

Me and my mate were talking about this last night; Cranking settings down to improve frame rate. I think it's probably a subjective thing, but as long as I'm cruising above 60 fps, I just try and make it look as fancy as possible.

You need a HDMI splitter by the sounds of it?

Yeah I know for a fact it's not required in the UK, but I think most stores have some sort of slightly shorter returns period for generally unwanted products.

I mean, it sounds like you're doing everything right but I can't work out why this guy would be selling it so low so early? Couldn't he even just get a refund at this stage?
