  1. @jakkuh_t I know it's mentioned in the video to reach out for those drives if you local. Buuuut. I live in USA-CT and have a server that takes SAS drives that I'd love extra drives for!
  2. The intent of the AIO was purely aesthetics, it just looks cleaner to me at the end of the day. I'm sure I could find a more efficient or cheaper cooler by going with air.
  3. The point they were making was to add an identical 8 GB ram kit, if you can.
  4. Hi all! After 8 years and consistent blue screening (likely from a failing hard drive), I've decided (and received the wife's permission) to give myself a system refresh! Please let me know what you might change to make it better! My main goal is the case (InWin A1 Plus) That Chi charger on the SFF case is just too nice to not want to play with it! 5. My story isn't as funky but instead, rather confusing. A friend of mine decided it was time to upgrade his GPU from his GTX 660 as it wasn't up to snuff on the games we were playing (primarily pre 1st month patch PUBG). I gave him a couple options within his price range, primarily RX480 or GTX 1060 3GB and told him if he was willing to splurge a little that he should go for a GTX 1060 6GB. He decided on an RX 480 so I pointed him towards a GIGABYTE card. He wound up purchasing the ASUS Strix RX 480 instead, but then complained that it didn't fit in his case. Thankfully, he bought his RX 480 just before the RX 500 series was announced. So I suggested he return the 480 he bought and buy a 580 that fits his machine for the same or maybe even less than what he originally spent. So, naturally, he bought a new case instead. After the new case came in he asked me to help him transition everything over to the new case. I was more than happy to aid him as I enjoy playing PC surgeon! This is where it gets confusing (if it wasn't already)... I go to take his computer apart and witnessed a couple things out of place. First of all, this machine clearly hasn't been open since it was initially built as it was caked in dust. Second, instead of his hard drive being mounted in the 3.5" rail type rack, there was a 2.5" to 3.5" converter slid into the top slot with the 3.5" HDD SHOVED in between the converter and the top of the hard drive cage... Finally, the biggest kicker was the entire time he has been using this machine the motherboard was mounted WITHOUT standoffs! How this thing didn't short I have no idea... Now I can't blame him for these errors as he didn't originally build the machine, but I know the guy who did and I heard that when building the machine initially, he managed to break some pins on a front USB header on top of these things. I guess it's safe to say, after building your first machine or two ever, you should maybe revisit it after a year or so and give it a good look over! TLDR: Motherboard mounted without standoffs somehow works perfectly fine after 3+ plus years.
  6. It's just been a long and painful gap since Ryzen 5 has dropped and we have no update, even a month, for when 3 will drop and H2 is just around the corner...
  7. So we heard about what Ryzen 3 will be, but no real update on when it will finally drop. Can anyone shed some light on this?
  8. That's easier said than done... I'm only looking into all this as I am working over the summer before going back to school for my last year. I'm just trying to get some mild performance increases. I could however, do the ITX build and then go for the custom loop after I start working, post-grad...?
  9. I'm trying to not break the bank in one go... Both of these options were good fits due to the fact that they were more or less doable for $800 and some small spending down the road. I'm not ready to drop a whole lot on what would essentially be a new system build... the 32gb would just be for any rendering. I am fully aware that it is by no means necessary, it would just be nice to have as I would not have to worry about potentially needing down the road. Either way, that's why option 2 only accounted for 16gb, I know I don't need it.
  10. OK. This will be a long one but I really could use some guidance... My current build So this is what I currently have for a pc build: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU Intel - Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor $309.99 @ SuperBiiz CPU Cooler Corsair - H110i GTX 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler $149.99 @ Corsair Motherboard Asus - Z170-PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard $139.00 @ Amazon Memory Corsair - Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $144.88 @ OutletPC Storage Samsung - 950 PRO 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive - Storage Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $169.99 @ Dell Small Business Storage Western Digital - BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $68.99 @ SuperBiiz Storage Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $73.88 @ OutletPC Video Card EVGA - GeForce GTX 950 2GB FTW ACX 2.0 Video Card $249.99 @ Amazon Case Anidees - AI Crystal (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case $139.90 @ Amazon Power Supply Corsair - 1000W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply $199.89 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $1646.50 Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-06-13 13:14 EDT-0400 I'm aware that the GPU is severely lacking compared to the rest of the build and that is the main focus of my upgrade. I use this machine for video gaming, streaming and editing as well as school work and potential graphics rendering for engineering programs (if my future job requires it when I'm out of college). Now for the two upgrades I'm torn between: The reason why I'm torn between these two is that they come out to about the same cost but have different focuses. Option 1 This option focuses on getting as much performance out of my machine as possible: I would upgrade my AIO to the EK-KIT S360 so as to start my build towards a custom water loop for improved thermals I would upgrade my GPU from the GTX 950 FTW to the GTX 1080ti FTW3 (and one day getting a proper water block to include in the above mentioned loop) I would add another set of 2x8GB 3200 Corsair Vengeance LED (white) RAM for a total of 32GB of ram I would add 3 NZXT 120mm Aer fans as well as 4 140mm Aer fans for aesthetics (I know RGB, I just like it) Finally I am looking to get the Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum Keyboard to replace my current G105 (it's getting old) This upgrade comes to a total of roughly $1500USD. However, I only would currently need the $800USD GPU to really make this upgrade effective, everything would just be nice to be able to get this summer. Option 2: This option focuses more on the fact that I like to bring my PC to school but the large case can get cumbersome, so a smaller form factor would be nice. I would switch out my case to the Fractal Design Nano S window (smaller size plus some good space, can't go wrong with it) I would switch my motherboard over to the ASUS ROG STRIX Z270i mITX motherboard (it'll fit the case and has everything I could possibly need on it and it has WIFI which is nice) I would upgrade the GPU from the GTX 950 FTW to the GTX 1080 FTW HYBRID (the hybrid water cooling with greatly help with thermals in the smaller case) I would change my water cooler from the large 280 AIO to an NZXT Kraken X42 140mm AIO (for space reasons, also RGB is nice) I would change over my RAM to a set of 2x8GB 3000 Corsair RGB (just to keep with the RGB aesthetic) I would get a 3 pack of the 120mm NZXT Aer RGB fans as well as 2 140mm fans (for similar reasons as option 1) again I'd be getting the Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum This upgrade comes to about $1375USD so it would be cheaper than option 1 (which is nice), however, it will not perform as well as option 1. For the same lower cost idea I could just focus on the case, motherboard and GPU all for around $800USD, so the first purchase for this upgrade will be roughly the same price as the first purchase for option 1. Now Back to My Question! In your opinion (I know, scary), what one do you think I should go for?
  11. So I personally really enjoy this game and intend to log plenty of hours exploring and discovering. What the main issue is that I've been reading about is that there are a slew of features that were teased or talked about before the release that were not included in the final $60 product. It feels like we're getting a beta version of the game and not what was promised. There's a whole Reddit post about what was "supposed" to be in the game here: Where's the NMS we were sold on?. Now don't get me wrong, I still very much enjoy this game and there have been patches talked about that will fix some of these missing "features". I guess the real heat is just from the feeling like we've been ripped off.
  12. I just recently purchased this case for my next build! I opened it up and it is gorgeous! Very spacious and slick. I have yet to get ahold of the rest of my parts for the build but I'll let you know. So far my fist impressions are that this case is so worth the purchase!
  13. So I tend to recommend the Kingston V300 120GB SSD for budget builds. However I seem to receive some backlash from others saying that they're trash SSDs. I see Linus using Kingston SSDs fairly often in some of his builds. Basically what I'm asking is; Is the Kingston V300 120GB SSD really that bad?
  14. The 303 cannot support E-ATX only ATX and smaller. There is actually a lot of room in the Crystal, the 303 has that funky radiator mount on the top (I personally don't like it and that's why I didn't go for it when I bought it, but everyone has their preferences ). I must agree, the Crystal is basically the same thing as the 805 but with better air flow. This case is basically Anidees' attempt on joining the "luxury" case market. It offer's that high end case look for a little bit cheaper than InWin (in some cases) and significantly cheaper than other high end companies. The only reason, that is the general consensus, for having the cable side being glass is to show off your cable management, almost every tempered glass case on the market does this, it just means you gotta spend some more time making your build look extra sexy. Plus with that added window you can mount SSDs and other things on that side and leave them for show! If you don't like the look of the front fan lighting you can always not have the LEDs on, but I personally kind of liked it, to each his own I guess. My comment was merely a suggestion really to show that there are other cases out there, I didn't even know this one existed until it went on sale on newegg a couple days ago, I fell in love with it personally
