  1. After a little reasearch and adjustments. I ended up changing the GPU, the RAM, and the PSU. Anybody find any problems with this build that I overlooked? https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Grimoire99/saved/N2nxrH https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/BnQ4VY
  2. The configuration of the case is all the same, you cant change that. But the components you put in adjust what you can do with the components. Rewriting now that somebody pointed out a few flaws in my design. Will post a fixed build in a little while.
  3. Thank you for that. I did know about the Sentry Preview tool, but not that compatability spreadsheet. That is a great help. I want to go all SSD because the Gaming laptop I bought has had a lot of problems running games that were on the HDD that came with it, and I just want to avoid them altogether. This will be traveling a lot and the less moving parts the better. The issue with the Water Cooler is one I have noticed before, but I got the idea from Bitwits Go Anywhere Do Anything PC build, although he did have a little more room in his. Going over what you said about it though makes me realize that the heat spreader for the M.2 slot would be in the way for mounting it in. Thank you for making me think about that. A few more things to think about then. Thank you.
  4. Hello anyone who wants to help, I have been wanting to build a computer for a long time now. I think I have it down now, but I want a few second opinions on my build. 1. Budget & Location I am from a small town in Saskatchewan, Canada, and I have a budget of about 3000 dollars for the initial build. 2. Aim This is supposed to be a portable, High End Gaming PC. I want to start gaming, but also want to be able to store every game I buy on my computer so that I can play it whenever I want. It doesn't always have to be hooked up to the internet, but it will always be needing a power source. Basically trying to find the sweet spot between Desktop Power and Upgrade Ability, and Laptop Portability. For this I bought the DR Zaber Sentry Case. If this turns out to be a bust I can find something else to build in. I realize that the build might be a tad overkill, but I figure its better to go overboard and have a fairly futureproof machine, than have a computer that I will just need to upgrade in a year. 3. Monitors I plan on Running 1 monitor at the moment. 4. Peripherals I am uncomfortable committing to the cables that I will need to buy for this. 5. Why are you upgrading? I am upgrading because with a console, I have to change games all the time and I cannot reliably bring games with me to play when I travel. With this all I need is an outlet and a portable monitor, or a HDMI cable to plug into a TV. I am going to post 2 builds. They are the same, but the reason I am doing this is because the first one is what I can afford right now, and the other one is what I aspire to create in the long term. Initial Build https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZphHTH Final Build https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/jT8kr7 I am kind of experimenting with the AIO cooler. There should be room for it in the Sentry Case in the GPU compartment at the end of the GTX 1070. Please let me know what you think of the build in general and my experiment. Thank you so much. Sean
  5. Thanks man. Will update as soon as I get the PC up and running. Gonna be sweet. haha
  6. No worries man. Even if you aren't familiar with Canadian rates I could still use advice for the parts. This was advice from someone else. Its very doable budget wise for me. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/THVcFd However I would like to change it to this https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/GrJfGf The price of the 1070 will leave me fairly skint. Is there any way to cut corners now to drop the overall price down? Or should I just stick with the 1050 build? Also, what do you think of that water cooler idea?
  7. Is this the only thing you would change? This is within my price zone but I just wanted to check if there was anything else where I could upgrade or downgrade to be able to afford the 1070 mini. I just don't know where I could do that. It all comes down to how much I have saved up by June or any advances that happen from now till then. Will this build limp me through a year or two before I have to upgrade it? https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/THVcFd Also looking for advice on the water cooling option, or is there a different forum for that? Possibly Case Modding?
  8. With these changes and me being in Canada, your build would push the cost to $1967.00. With some other tweeks that have been suggested it pushes it to $2177.00 Its not a bad build but the Case doesn't have any 3.5 drives slots. With this maybe having the AIO water cooler in it there would only be room for two 2.5 drives and 1 M.2. I could change the mobo but then I wouldn't have M.2 SSD Support. I changed a few things from your build to accomodate having M.2 and 2 2.5 drives. What do you think? https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/dXgtsJ
  9. Hello All, I have never actually put together a pc before but I have been doing a lot of research and it looks simple enough. I have purchased a DR. ZABER SENTRY case and hope to build in it. If it doesn't actually get made or shipped or gets caught up in any way I was thinking the FRACTAL DESIGN NODE 202 or the SILVERSTONE RVZ02B would be good substitutes. If the whole build itself is too much for the case then it will be easily turned into a fine HTPC. This build is to be a mid tier to high tier gaming rig. I want this build to be easily transportable and be the size limit for carry on. Right now the cash flow is a little limited which is why I am going for the first build below. I will pair it with a Portable monitor which I haven't decided on yet. (any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated as well. looking for basically a tablet monitor so I can game with it either on a desk or laying down in bed.) The DR ZABER Case info is here http://zaber.com.pl/sentry/ This is the build I want to try and get ASAP https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/RRgtsJ and this is where I eventually want it to get to. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/9J4df8 You will notice two CPU coolers. With the configuration I have set up, I can either put a third 2.5 drive bay for 4 more drives in the GPU compartment, or hypothetically I could fit a small AIO water cooler into that area. I have done the math and the water cooler I have chosen should fit. I want to know if that would be worth it or if It wouldn't do a thing. Also if it is not worth doing water cooling, then would the fan be enough to get the job done? The PSU also gives me a reason to pause. I went to a local computer shop with this build and they told me that the SFX12v wouldn't be enough to power this beast. I was confused and hoped to get more information. I didn't see any regular SFX or SFX-L PSU's that didn't fall under the SFX12v category on pcpartpicker. Any clarification on this point is most welcome. If there are any problems anybody sees with this build/configuration please let me know. Anything that is exceptionally good would be great to hear about as well. As I said I have done the research and everything should work fine with it, but I definitely want a second opinion. Thank you all so much.
  10. Nice. I've changed to a non reference (I think). I remember hearing that term before and didn't know what it meant. I think I have done all the research I need to on this. This seems like a very solid gaming PC that will stand up for a few years while I save up money for more and better parts. Thank you so much for all your input and expertise. I really appreciate it. If theres anything else you can see please advise again. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/gCxh3F
  11. Sounds comlicated and slightly unnessecary unless I start building for a living. I've got a build but I think my only question left is about the GPU. It is a mini ITX form but this case can fit a full card. Is it worth it to get a full card or is the small one going to work just as well? http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/rdnZJV
  12. How do you tell what good ram is anyway?
  13. With a budget of 1500 this is what I came up with. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/hcJKXH
  14. Ok. I may have misunderstood then. I thought a monster gpu was what I was encouraged to get. Ok. I will remake the old one with fewer tweaks
  15. I just tried to follow your tips but I believe I went a little overboard. I went as cheap as I could go and still keep the parts. Also went on YouTube and looked at a few mini its builds under $1000. Did I completely blow up the build?
