Here we go again, another week, another CA for shitty products. Naturally there will be a rush of defense for Apple from people who have "only" have their Macbook repaired 3 times in 5 years and never had the display ribbon break so it must be user error.

I've been trying to use a DP to VGA adaptor. Works on a Quadro NVS295 and HD6870, GTX1050 doesn't want to know. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Some of the time it works for a while, then just starts turning on and off. I gave up with a 3rd monitor.

And there's no drivers so you actually have to buy a Mac to use the damn thing. Better off buying a proper display that follows standards and has a few buttons for settings

If the ads are interfering with viewing the website, then they're in a shitty place. As soon as I get an ad load in the middle of a mobile page I just leave. I can't be fucked with them, especially the crafty transparent ones that you can't avoid tapping.

I shall soon be streaming on an 11 year old workstation, once I replace the GTX1050 with something that has some performance, and I fix the hyperthreading issues.

Kit that fits is always going to offer the best protection. No need for on epiece leathers either, zip together textiles are generally better.

Meanwhile those that do work in manufacturing/production/transport/logistics/services have to choose between taking time off and loosing income, or working constantly to earn the money they need to pay the medical bills for the stress-induced heart attack as they can't afford to take time off and loose income. At least you're alright in your little "charge for a week and finish in 3 days" world.

Well it's quite funny that Apple didn't learn from the era of jailbreaking through a browser and STILL has gaping holes in Safari.

I'm getting a streaming setup sorted, but I'm using virtual machines. I have 2 VM's running. One for gaming and general use, and another that's just for streaming out. I use OBS with the NDI plugin on both machines, gaming is streaming to the stream-out whish handles the transcoding, overlays and twitch chat, then fires it off. Got a dedicated graphics card passed through to each along with a USB controller. It's as good as 2 seperate machines but much easier to work with

You can start by just streaming from the machine you game on, you don't "need" a capture card. You can even stream from your gaming machine to another to manage your stream from there.

You can use a bootloader like Clover to load an NVMe module and boot using that. How exactly I have no idea.

I wopuld suggest Proxmox instead of UNRaid, mainly as it's free.

Recently my game SSD (a Sunbow X3) has had weird writing issues. It starts off fine and slows down with a response time into tens of seconds! The 4k random reads/writes were utter bollocks too in the single digits. Same kind of slow random numbers on the WD green boot drive but it sustained sequential reads and writes just fine. I recently switched from the onboard SATA2 controller to a PCI-e SATA3 controller which made initial writes faster but it still dropped to stupid slow. 4k reads/writes still crap. Today I swapped my WD Green 240GB boot drive for another Sunbow x3 480GB (used Clonezilla to do an exact copy) and now it performs as it should. Just curious if anyone knows what may have been causing it?
