  1. You need to learn the fine art of "automotive chemical warfare".
  2. Galaxy S2, still supported by many applications. iPhone 5, nahh, Apple says that's too old so you can't run your apps on it any more. Android devices don't last at all.
  3. Android hard to develop for? I can take the code I use in Windows, jam it in a Xamarin project and send to my phone via WiFi. Unlike iOS, I don't have to pay the mighty overlords for permission to put MY code on MY device that I paid nearly £1000 for. In addition, it doesn't stop working after a week, or a reboot of the device requiring recompiling and transferring over again. But yeh, really hard to develop for Android and pointless too as it's about to die due to a lack of market share and use.
  4. Vodafone for fibre and mobile was a deal with Three. Pre-discount cost of mobile was about £80 with 100GB of data per month. They run an offer for a couple of weeks, £22 per month and unlimited data for 2 years.
  5. Hey look, you can see me in the distance with ever decreasing fucks to give. I have a dual CPU machine with 3 graphics cards that uses less power than that CPU alone.
  6. £22(ish) P/M for 80/20 fibre and another 22 for similar speed mobile that's rarely used.
  7. I can get a brand new 1070ti Mini 8GB for £300. May just spring the extra and go for that on payday
  8. They play by the same rulebook, can't repair boards and cant get cables.
  9. One would assume that the hinge design limits the display movement to a designed maximum. If the internal cables can't handfle that then either them or the hinge isn't correct for the application.
  10. Every machine they look at seems to be water damaged. It worked fine afterwards because they will have likely changed the fucked cable too
  11. SoT has partially encrypted game files. The UE PAK files have encrypted index but the data itself is plain.
  12. Basically they mean if you are not a captain or higher, you will become stretched out and pixelated and your windscreen wipers will smear.
  13. I can give some real and recent insight into this. Subnautica on Microsoft Store runs worse than the Epic version. More stuttery, lower FPS and the experiance is just not as good. Even a cracked 2/3 year old early access copy performed better than the Store version. Until it is released I cannot name the game due to an NDA however the exact same situation. The MS Store version is slower to load, performs worse and stutters when the game has to load a huge amount of data compared to the Steam version. I don't mind a slight load time hit but the encryption makes realtime loading slower and impacts the game experiance. Developers have every right to protect their work, but when that means rooting into a customers machine and impacting their enjoyment of the game, people will turn to cracked copies. If it's a single player game then who cares? Can't get banned so why buy the castrated copy? Online games are easy to protect, do as Microsoft do and match the user account to a purchase (or Gamepass entitlement). No record of a purchase then no online play. Online games are where the income matters as they have to keep up support, single player titles are often a sell once, maybe patch a few times and move on.
  14. £200-250 absolute maximum and no issue going used. Lower the better obviously. I should add that I only have PCIe 2.0 on this machine but both GPU slots are 16x, one to each PCH.
  15. I'm looking for some pointers on what GPU to pair with my dual Xeons. Something with VGA output would be preferred (to connect to my touch monitor) but not essential. I currently have a GTX1050 2GB and it's running 95% constantly in game with the CPU total usage at about 15-20%. Any game, it bangs out over 200 FPS in Source based games (Gmod, Portal etc), and between 30 and 60 in more demanding games (SoT, GTA v, even Subnautica wants more). It's never a stable 60 though. I run everything virtualised so there's some slight overhead there (but not worth bothering with) and will be streaming using a second VM. I will be passing through the 1050 to the streaming VM and giving the main one the new card, whatever it happens to be. Replacing the machine is an option but not yet. I'd need a 7700k minimum to match the multi-threaded performance I get with this system. It's not just a gaming machine, so having that high core/thread count makes more sense than dropping down to a quad just for better IPC and slightly better potential game performance. As the GPU is always maxed out and I never get high single core loads, I believe the GPU is the bottleneck at the moment and an overpowered card to replace it is probably a good idea. Means if I ever upgrade to a more modern platform I already have a heafty GPU to make the most of it.
  16. I read it wrong, thought it was 6800k. Where did the original CPU come from though?
  17. Where did the CPU come from? It should be a 6 core hyperthreaded CPU, not a 4 core.
  18. The 6800k has hyper-threading, you should enable that in the UEFI and see if that helps CPU performance. There could be a rogue running though with CPU pegged at 100%.
  19. What are you downloading with uTorrent? Not a good sign when you have high recourse usage with seemingly nothing using them.
