  1. In other words your system is a spying device even if you wipe Windows and run a non-botnet OS.
  2. I know it's not your question but if you don't want the black bars you can change the scaling option in your video card driver to something like "full screen" in stead of "aspect ratio". Not sure how you mean "make sure all applications will run at that resolution", it should just appear as an option like any other resolution, you mean it isn't? Or you mean it isn't picking it by default? Fixing the former is easy, fixing the latter is impossible.
  3. It's because 1000 series does error correction rather than just crash if the memory is clocked too high. It's a good idea to bench your card at multiple memory overclocks to see whats the fastest as a higher memory clock wont always translate to a higher FPS.
  4. SharpKeys is easier than poking around in the registry as it does it for you. https://download.cnet.com/SharpKeys/3000-2094_4-75803009.html It writes to the registry so just run it once, make the changes you want then delete the program and you never need it again. I used it to rebind pgup and pgdown to be volume controls, and the Windows key to an asterisk for much the same reason you want caps lock gone.
  5. Why did they arrest him? He was just filming a social experiment.
  6. It is unreasonable and you're throwing money down the drain chasing such a goal. At higher framerates you tend to run into a CPU bottleneck anyway so more GPU power might not even help, as others have stated and provided reasons for SLI isn't a good choice anymore.
  7. Linus drives a Lambo, 3K isn't an "investment" he probably wipes his arse with 3K.
  8. I always love the argument that CSGO should have super intrusive anti-cheat and then news stories like this pop up.
  9. The shit sandwich has already been pretty indigestible to be fair, the last time AMD shit on Nvidia's parade hardcore was 280X. Since then it's been a case of "buy AMD if you want to mine, buy Nvidia if you want to game". Right now there's pretty much no reason what so ever to buy an AMD card despite AMD's dumb shit like them offering discounts on games and monitors.
  10. You're probably right, and that's the worst thing. 1080Ti is so far from Vega that it isn't even funny. If AMD give up on competing with Nvidia like they did with Intel post-Sandy Bridge we're in for some really, really shitty times.
  11. Maybe, but still, I don't want the 1080Ti to be the peak of affordable performance for the next year and a half, not when it's already been out for that long. If AMD can shit on Intel's parade they should be able to shit on Nvidia's too.
  12. Hopefully whatever they reveal is hot shit, Nvidia running away with the GPU market isn't an exciting prospect.
  13. gpuboss is pretty much useless because it just uses the technical data of the cards. The two are about as fast as eachother, if price is the same the 1030 is a better choice due to reduced power consumption, but as someone above said you may want to increase your budget to something like a 1050. What are the other specs of the system? There's little sense in adding a good GPU to a toaster.
  14. Did you compare load temps? Idle temps aren't particularly important.
  15. Doubt they'll be that cheap in reality.
  16. Big res, high refresh rate, reduced graphics > shit res, low refresh rate, high graphics 1060 6GB will be fine.
  17. if 100% load and 100% fan speed at 25C room temperature = 70C GPU temperature then 100% load and 100% fan speed at 45C room temperature = 90C GPU temperature
  18. You aren't worried about ambient temps despite your component temps (all other factors being equal) scaling linearly with ambient?
  19. The chances of you keeping a 1080Ti 25C above ambient at 100% load are pretty slim even at 100% fan speed.
  20. But it isn't though, it's like thinking you'll die of heat stroke in a room at 27C.
  21. You're wasting your effort caring about what temperature it runs at unless it's in excess of 90C, which it wont be because it'll throttle at that point.
