  1. I dont think its exactly how it happened. Here is what i think The writer sets it up thinking he grabbed a 3090 but it was a 4090, as per shown in the beginning of the video This implies that the 3090 billet sent was lost at logistics, which was pointed out by linus in an upcoming video exploring different lmg processes. The writer asked Billet if it would work on a 4090. Billet says its possible. They make the video, and afterward when performance is revealed, the writer asks if they can use a 3090 because thats what billet said was compatible with. Linus determines that the cost of sending someone out to the labs place to pick up a 3090, and the time to install would cost too much, and decides to move on.
  2. This is not about growing up, this is about making it clear that this is not a small issue, and for someone who we knew to be an honest and trustful person, to wright the wrongs made in this situation. We all know linus is better than this, and can surely fix these mistakes. Are there lots of bad people in this world, yes. Can we solve every problem in the world, no. Is there situations that we know we can make right with our voice, absolutely, and this is one of them. Is it true that linus is at the head of a $100M+ valuated company, yes. But, does he have a proven track record of eventually listening to people, yes. LTT is a sinking ship that can be saved, and that is why I am making my voice loud and clear. For the sake of linus and his team.
  3. Bro, what? I said what i said because i sympathise with his feelings, but to just watch the video again. Its not projecting, its demonstrating an understanding. Im trying my hardest not to be toxic here.
  4. Yeah, you arent wrong in that front. I think that billet probably were fans of LTT, and didnt ever forsee anything like this happening. They probably did ship it in a high priority insured package, given the value, so the likelihood of the postal service losing it is unlikely. Then again, i do not know the details. The fact that they said nothing publically as all this went down further indicates to me that they were fans of LTT, and didnt want to say too many negative things, unlike pwnage. It also leads me to wonder who else has LTT messed up with.
  5. I dont think firing himself is nessessary. The real problem is linus has been going at full speed for far too long, and desperately needs a break. In prior wan shows, linus has talked about how Yvonne has asked him to slow down company wise and spend more time with family, and frankly she is right 100%. Linus is far to wrapped up in LMG, both physically and emotionally, and needs to understand this isnt the small team it used to be. Every single time controversey arrises, he takes it personally first and foremost. Linus needs a break, weather it be a few weeks to a few months, and let the team handle and fix this. They are talented and bright people.
  6. Well you would want to put your best foot foward so the results can be as high as they are. Sending linus a worse prototype would be bad optics, as the rewiew would be bad, and even though they might say in the video that billet has a better prototyoe with x improvement, who would believe that? Most people would see it as BS like every single kickstarter.
  7. I mean it does demonstrate that they are listening to some capacity. It would be far worse if they didnt try to make things right. We will just have to wait and see as to what they will do about the other issues GN has brought up. So far, its quite a poor response.
  8. maybe you need to in order to get the word out about your product so you can generate hype and revenue.
  9. Heavily doubt this would ever happen. It would be so idiotic in so many levels. Linus messed up badly here, and isnt reacting correctly, but he isnt one to fire people.
  10. Ok, i see your point. GN should have clarified how they determined that the item was sold, and I think the second GN video gives the evidence they used to confirm that it was sold. In the first video, they state they had correspondance with Billet to get a timeline of events, but do not show any emails. In the second video they do show the text correspondance between billet and LTT, proving that its sold.
  11. We know its sold and gone because in linus's own statement he is saying he is "paying for it to go away" Meaning he doesnt have it, and is paying Billet the cost of the prototype
  12. Linus for sure needs a break. I dont think they need to pause content creation, just slow it down while they work on revamping the video making process. All the while linus gets to spend some time with family and let the team handle it. The team is talented and resourceful, they can fix this without linus needing to help. And linus really needs the break.
  13. Luke is an introvert, first and forrmost. You have to understand that. Luke disagrees with linus, and is sometimes vocal about it, but sometimes fails to mention it, weather be because wan show is 3 hrs long and he forgets, or other reasons. Its hard to go through what goes on in peoples thought process, but part of it is definately to not argue too much.
  14. What a phenomenally bad take. And this is coming from a longtime supporter, frequent merch buyer, and floatplane member. Take some deep breaths, and watch the videos with biases aside. Its painful to watch, but its the truth.
  15. Its not that weird honestly. Every time there is controversey, linus first reacts with pushback, and then later once given thought and reflection a more well balanced, but still not perfect response. Linus is an emotions first person, and first acts out of self defense before rational thought. And the haters using derogatory terms dont help. But seeing him repeat these well known and demonstrated mistakes is fustrating and dissapointing, coming from a fan who has been watching for 8+ years.
  16. Ok comments like this are just rude and not helpful. In the end i think we should push him to do better with affermative action, but insulting remarks are just gonna cause @LinusTech to double down with emotions.
  17. @LinusTech should know about this. GN is playing this game fairly.
  18. All i can hope at this point is Linus needs to actually sits down and do self reflection. Unlike GN, im willing to believe an apologetic second response, but if Linus doubles down again, i think an unsub is warranted. @LinusTech WATCH THE VIDEOS THIS TIME PLEASE, AND DO NOT MAKE A RESPONSE UNTIL YOU HAVE THOUGHT IT THROUGH CAREFULLY. - a deeply dissapointed fan.
  19. But then why not wait and do do diligence before publishing a review? After the first mistake and second, why didnt you step back, assess the situation, and determine to have extra checks in place to ensure the accuracy of reviews through this growing phase. Like I said before, the goal of LTT in my mind is to make the best videos anf provide the best content and coverage on computer hardware. And yes, mistakes happen, thats okay, and we get it. But constant errors showing up in reviews, and leaving the videos up when they should have been taken down rubs me the wrong way, and demonstrates a higher priority of the youtube algorithm than integrity in reviews. As i keep saying, it really hurts me to talk about this as im a big fan, but I know that construcive criticism is the only way for people you idolize to improve, and I want you to improve.
  20. I swear everytime i see an asterisk now in an LTT video i will think of this moment.
  21. The pitchforks were raised because for the past 2 years criticism was met with pushback before actual correction. The whole reacting first then giving rational thought later is bad PR. I get it, i love watching the wan show and hearing your oppinions raw, but in these situations you need to tread carefully. What happened to old linus i knew, the one who would listen to feedback and put emotions aside. The one who would make an effort when correcting videos, even for comedic ones like the cheap onn tv video where there is a jumpcut clarifying something minor. The linus I see now is one who immediately sees criticism as people out to get him first, and while i get that toxic people are out there, most of the time their criticisms maybe have an ounce of truth that should be considered fully. I also see someone who cares more about opportunity cost than making quality videos first. And i get it, LTT is massive, but the goals of LTT should remain constant, making the best videos possible, reguardless of how size and scale changes. If anything impedes on making quality videos, maybe it should be taken a closer look at. Saying that LTT is going through growing pains works maybe once or twice. But i would think that the next GPU or CPU review would have way more time spent ensuring mistakes dont happen again. In the past, egregious mistakes often have the video taken dowm, and a corrected video be issued. This is no longer the case, and it rings a "but we will lose momentum in the algorithm" concern that causes the video to stay up. Sometimes, its better to eat the loss instead of trying to maintain profit, like that time you messed up pricing for a product at NCIX and instead of canceling orders, your boss telling you to honor the orders and eat the loss. And look, i understand a big company like yours has miscommunication all the time, but the moment you saw it start to impact the quality of videos, the issue should have been addressed then and there instead of sweeping it under the rug. Using the whole "our company is growing" as a scapegoat only works so much. Its time to take drastic action, and actually take responsibility rather that point to a nebulous term. Watching the GN video, typing this response was very hard for me to do. The last GN video about TMB i didnt agree with, as i felt it didnt consider the human element in that situation, but this is different. Im a big fan, i own the OG Swacket, mousepad, waterbottle, and have ltt stickers everywhere. Been watching the channel for 8 years. But seeing the GN video, but more specifically this response that just sang the same tones as every other response to a mistake LTT has made, felt like a stab in the chest. All i ask for is i guess affirmative action at this point rather than using the same scapegoat. Taking a pause and iorning things out. I hope someone at LTT reads this, and doesnt pass me off as a hater, rather a deeply dissapointed fan.
