  1. Soon i plan on wiring 2 PCs and an access point to the grid. The problem is, in winter I tend to get lots of rats moving into the roof. I hear they like to chew on cabling for the insulation or whatever, is there an easy way to prevent this? Thanks I'm not all too against poisoning the place so they don't come in, but i don't want any corpses in my attic. also poison isn't a long term solution is it? maybe the rat version of mothballs (if such a thing exists), and just renewing them every winter? I was thinking taping the cabling down or against somethings so it's hard for them to get to and would pretty much never be in the way for them, the issue then is i also want the cables to exit at a vertical wall, and that might mean making it accessible to them pesky rodents. Thanks
  2. okay so idk what switching boost and monitoring is (unless thats the mic boost, in which case i have). my mic is just a detachable mic on my headset, it came with my hyperx cloud cores and i know they work because I've been using them on my phone too. link to my headset: http://www.hyperxgaming.com/us/headsets/cloud/hscc different formats? I've used Skype's call testing service, call my friend on Skype and Steam, and Windows Voice Recorder. anything else you suggest i try? i think it was a bad idea posting when its was like 4am in canada. thanks.
  3. Hello!, So i have the GA Z170X Gaming 7 motherboard and the audio input for my microphone isn't working. Whenever i talk into it, it'll pick up on really loud peaks and then either distort or fail outright to hear anything else. i know my headset mic works (tried it on my phone). I've tried the following: restart clear cmos most audio settings i could find switching to front panel audio plugs (same problem) Yes its in the correct port, it was working up until about a month ago. I've done a little research and found out the mobo is known to have some audio output distortion, but i'm not getting that. my specs in case its relevant intel i5 6600k 16gb g-skill ddr4 at 2400 Megahertz gtx 980ti corsair vs650 hyper x cloud core. the only variable i haven't tested is the y spliter although i doubt it's broken because i've treated it pretty well and the output is fine. the attached file is my phone playing rickroll about 2 centimeters (0.8 inches) away from the mic. should this be in the audio or motherboard sub-forum thanks in advanced and post any other questions you have. not suspicious audio file.m4a
