Indeed it is usually easier to find a full size card, and for that reason the LP models on used websites usually sell for ~$20 more, and I have to admit, spending a bit more now to for a better upgrade path later can be nice.

2. Upgrade to Core 2 Quad
3. Add appropriate GPU
4. Add RAM
5. ????

Actually, it turns out you're right, the charger wasn't making contact with the "pin" inside the laptop port. Ive tried with a 12V adapter, and im now getting 12V through the port. I can't run the laptop from the 12V one though, so im gonna check and see if i have another charger that would fit.

Ask for their reasoning. There may be some deeper intellect behind it and show you that maybe a bluetooth keyboard and your pre-existing iPad Air 2 are plenty suitable for typing notes in class on a word document.

Add more ram if you have less then 8 gb, add an SSD to your pc if you are using an HDD as OS drive. Move to windows 7, SP1 if you are using anything newer. Do a clean install. Maybe change browsers. (the newest firefox seems to be nice)

Um, are you experiencing slowdowns that weren't there before? The easiest way to fix that is to reinstall Windows.
 
If you're talking about a PC other than the one in your sig, definitely add an SSD,

Clean install of Windows
If your SSD is full then it will be slower too, might just delete some stuff from that

Much better than the alternative in years past before RGB where you had to buy specific components if you didn't want your build to have twenty different colours in it.

If for some reason you cannot afford a new 1050 or 1050ti at the very least you might want to try to look into a used card instead but generally stay away from GPUs that are brand new and under 100 bucks their performance is fairly terrible and mostly not playable unless you have really low settings that look pretty bad.
