Mrchooow got a reaction from Trippik in Samsung Builds Bitcoin Mining Rig Using 40 Old Galaxy S5s
Okay, so I just started mining Etherum, mostly for fun but I find the world interesting.
So Im in the Cryptocurrency forum on facebook, while browsing through the forum i came across this link.
    https://interestingengineering.com/samsung-builds-bitcoin-mining-rig-using-40-old-galaxy-s5s

I tried to find some more in depth article about it, but the only thing that i found was this,I was hoping to find an article with some specs, hashrate etc..
But since its samsung I doubt that gonna happen any time soon.
    https://news.bitcoin.com/samsung-builds-bitcoin-mining-rig-using-old-phones/

I really think this is a great thing that Samsung did, the cost of a bitcoin miner is really expesnvie where i live(Norway), but everyone here has like 1-3 old cellphones laying around collecting dust.
So this can finally mminimize Ewaste, and make Bitcoin mining more accesible for the everyday guy.
Cryptocurrency has come to saty i believe, and it has until now been somewaht limited to specfic group of people.
If i go around in oslo asking people waht bitcoin is, Im sure 7 out of 10 wont know what t is.

Only thing is that I hope this is something that every cellphone manufacuterer will implement.
Waht is your thoughts around this?

Damn, i only managed to get mine to 1325+/-, altho i feel that the 6800k have gotten a bad treatment as f.ex techsource didnt event try to oc it.
Ive found out that i rather have a 400 mhz gain on uncore then 6 core at 4.3, so now ive only run 1 at 4.3 and 5 at 4.2 uncroe at 38 got to lower the voltage from 1.410 to 1.390, and the idle temps went down by 8-10c
feel this is okay for a chip that i bought on "craigslis"t for 300 $

Mrchooow got a reaction from Pachuca in Non-overclocked i7 6800k Overheating?
This smells RMA long way, im having mine at 1.390 and one core at 4.3 and the rest at 4.2 uncore is set to 3800 and never have temps over 85 with an h110i G, altho most of this chips seems to be bad overclockers, maybe they saved the good silicone for 6900k and 6950x
Also i have had some issues with HWinfo64 not showing coreect tempratures with asus mobo, it showed two of my temps at 85C, checked it with external probe and is was 55, dont know why this happen tho

Mrchooow reacted to Pachuca in Non-overclocked i7 6800k Overheating?
Yes, RMA the unit it's not your cooler. Those were the same exact temps I was getting with mine. Besides if the cooler pump was broken your pc wouldn't even start because that chip gets hot very quickly and without a working pump it would just shut down to protect itself from overheating. Intel will send you a brand new cpu. They will bill you for it at full price first, but they will refund you the money once you ship the defective cpu back to them so keep that in mind.

Edit: If you don't have the original packaging with the s/n# and batch# you will need to get those numbers from the top of the CPU HIS so they can process the warranty for you. Check their website if you're not sure where to find those numbers on the cpu.

you have to be the biggest Ryzen fans  hahah

I fully agree here, i choose x99 platform strictly because of productivity reasons. Single core perfomance are better on z170 and z270, but for your kind of work i would go with the x99.
Everybody is shouting Ryzen here and there, but until i see some valid benchmarks from other people then AMD, i would wait a bit, not only is this a totally new cpu on a new chipset vs x99 that have been around for a couple of years now.
Drivers and software are already made efficient with the use of x99 system, as no one really has gotten to work with AMD's new chipset.
Look at it like this, you buy Ryzen it works super under gaming, but then when you start with productivity clockspeed isnt the only thing you need to think about, you have ipc, tdp, power draw etc etc. as your kind of work often uses multiple cores and that will have an affect in the overall performance of your rig.

Before you make any choices, i suggest you read this article which i find to be really good.
    http://www.pcgamer.com/live-benchmarks-amd-ryzen-vs-intel-core/

And no i dont hate Ryzen, but until i see unbiased benchmarks i will not say that Ryzen is better as i have noe groundpoint/facts for saying that.

Mrchooow got a reaction from Hunter06 in On the subject of AIO coolers...
What is your skill lvl with Hardware, if this is your first build i would strongly recommned that you get a friend that has built several computer help you out with the build and the custom loop
Their are both pros and cons with aio vs Custom
biggest pro must be, is easy to install, maintenance free and they are not that expensive.
Cons must be that have you zero upgradabilty unless you with go with coolers from EKWB,Alphacool or EVGA's new coolers.
(yes i know you in theory can do this, but you need specific coolers, and this is mod job most even want to think about.)
and after x amount of hours run, you need to change it out.

If you go custom the price is gonna be higher, but you will have the possibilty to cusmtomize everything from fans, rads, res and tubes, their are endless possibiltiys here.
Downside there are quite the job to maintain a customloop, ever 3-4 months you need to drain the lopp, and refill it with fresh fluid.
Also if you dont know what you are doin and have a leak in your loop, you can pretty much say goodbye to your computer
And with custom you can generally get sicker builds out of it, just watch intel extreme rig masters, none of them went with and aio

I agree, a lot of restriction in airflow in itx cases, an SP fans are known to be better in itx vs AF fans. your motherboard will have som sort of fan control program(if its not a budget board). I would suggest getting 140 mm pwm fans, that way you can control the speed and also the noise coming from the pc. Its not like you need the fans to run at 100% when your computer is idle

I took the prices from Amazon.de, I went cheap on the Power Supply I would strongly recomend getting a Better Power Supply (arround €50 to €60), you could start having your PC with no case, or buy a cheap €15 basic case and then Buy something you like when you have more money down the road.

Intel Pentium Kaby Lake G4560    €65,7
    MSI Mainboard H110 M Pro D LGA1151 Max 32 GB 2x DDR4    €53,21
    Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/s    €50
    Barracuda ST1000DM010 1 TB HDD    €50,75
    Zotac P10510B 10L GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC 4GB    €167

if i remember right, th e5440 is lga 771 and around those times you were limited to pci-e gen 2.0 not 3.0 as it is today.
Performance it doesn't make that much of a difference, but you should rather look into a budget build as i foresee you getting more problems using this setup compared to a budget i3 edition
I have a dual lga 771 system, but it is for a wm server that also works as a nas

( ಥـْـِـِـِـْಥ) what!?  Please for the love of god... *facepalm* someone needs to explain to them that's not how temperatures work.  For example, 40 C is not "twice as hot" as 20 C since 0 in whatever scale you're using, unless it's absolute is just some arbitrary value with no meaning in this context.
