  1. I bought a Hydro Copper 3080ti literally days before they announced that they were leaving the GPU scene. I probably have one of the last Hydro Copper cards they ever made. Its amazing, and i cant find any first party watercooling ready cards on the nVidia side anywhere anymore. There used to be Waterforce cards, but i dont even see those. I will miss EVGA terribly. BTW if anyone would want a used 3080ti Hydro Copper when the 5000 series comes out (if ever) the RGB has failed (a common issue from my research, but an aesthetic one that can be fixed), but otherwise its a tank.
  2. In my original post i mention that there are additional keys available outside of those easily reachable with WASD. Which is the "data" in this context. More of my keyboard is available to me with my left hand (which isnt abnormally large) using ESDF than with WASD. This is objectively true for me, and has made playing games both easier (less RSI) and more enjoyable. Those last 2 points are mostly subjective, as not everyone suffers RSI issues like I do and may not derive any "enjoyment" from decent or terrible control mappings in games, and i left those out as they are specific to me in a way that my other points are not. Anyone with average and above size hands would benefit from using ESDF as more buttons is usually more better, and being able to reach more buttons without strain is also usually more better (this is my opinion). Not everyone would find it more comfortable/natural. I hope that helps to clarify.
  3. Having ordered something on 12/19 which apparently wont ship until 1/15 unintentionally. I think LTT could be a bit more clear during checkout that 1 or more items in the cart would delay shipping until after X date. As it stands now if you missed the note on the store page then the only way you would know that is to just somehow know that thats the policy and recheck the site for stuff you ordered. If i got an email after i ordered like "hey, you have this one item that wont ship until 2 months from now, do you want to pay shipping twice, wait, or cancel that one item" it would help a lot. I get that LTT is relatively low volume and small time compared to things like Amazon. But there is room for some greater transparency around these things. If im ordering something from Amazon there is at least 4 different places during checkout where the estimated delivery date is present and you have to "ok" it. This is even true of other sites like Primochill, where if something will delay shipping, they have a note in checkout. Aquacomputer does something similar but they always seem to find what i ordered somewhere even though their site says itll take 60 days so maybe thats just Germans Germaning, idk.
  4. Perhaps i could have phrased that better. To be more verbose, and therefore accurate I will rephrase. In my own testing and daily use I have found ESDF to be more performant for me than WASD. It is therefore my opinion that ESDF is superior based on objective testing and data analysis. All that being said, i think its possible to have an opinion which is backed up by objective data and have that opinion be that something is better/worse. That opinion, being based on objective data, can be that something in objectively better/worse. Being an opinion leaves open the possibility that it is incorrect, and that others have the ability to disagree. Objectivity in this context implies that there is no subjective data taken into the opinion. While that is, of course, impossible to do. We are all biased in our own subconscious ways. I still feel like what i said is valid. Also its a figure of speech I used and so some level of abstraction is warranted. Got way off topic there, lol.
  5. Using ESDF instead of WASD for movement in games is objectively better. You gain 4 extra keys to map to functions (wqaz) which can easily be hit by your pinky. As well as still retaining relatively easy access to control, alt, shift, and tab. You also gain an additional 1 or 2 numbers you can reach, from 1-7 instead of 1-5 within relatively easy reach. You also gain 6 extra keys on the left which are very easy to get to. In terms of making the most number of actions and functions available on a single hand with relative ease of access, ESDF is better. Change my mind.
  6. Looking at doing a build in the Tower 900. Im torn between the Aquacomputer Airplex rads as they look cool AF. The other rad im looking at is the Black Ice Nemesis 560GTX. Does anyone have experience with the Airplex that can give me some advice? Ive looked elsewhere and im not seeing anything but conflicting information. The goal would be to keep the system as cool as possible with the fans running as slow as possible. Quiet is the top priority, so i need a rad that cools well with low air flow.
  7. I have a Predator x35. 1100 nits and 500+ dimming zones. It’s no OLED, but everything I’ve experienced and read online says it’s objectively a good time for hdr. Maybe I’m just not educated on what black levels are. Idk.
  8. i havent noticed an issue with black levels being too high. the indoor/outdoor transition is weird. but other than that its been a much better HDR experience than a lot of other titles.
  9. I saw some mentions during the early access period where people were disappointed that Starfield didnt have native HDR support. While this is true, ive been running it with Auto-HDR and its been fantastic. There are some places where auto-hdr has a problem with the dynamic range, but i havent seen a totally flawless HDR master in a game yet. So, for everyone mad about native HDR missing. I would argue that the game has been tuned to work with auto-HDR instead of needing native support. At least on my setup this results in a very excellent HDR experience.
  10. you mean you dont butter your toast with a scalpel? Man you are missing out on something incredible.
  11. Consult the manual for the motherboard. In most cases both supplemental CPU power connections are not needed. For that CPU though i wouldnt be surprised if you do need both.
  12. Just to clarify, they are used for power delivery/signaling. So they are omitted because cost, probably. Its likely a lower end card that would not take advantage of the extra signal/power bandwidth even if it was available. Typically you see this on cheaper cards which have less PCB layers and so they are cheaper to design and build as well as less material needed. The card is designed this way and thats not why it isnt booting.
  13. Removing the roof off a car increases the price. In your case the price increase would be for a similar reason to my example, it costs more when you dont sell as many. "Gaming" branding sells in the same way that having a roof on your car sells. Better. So the "gaming" features are made in higher quantities and thus benefit from the economies of scale more. Again tho "gaming monitor" is literally just branding. The specs of the display is what is important and there are no such thing as "gaming" features. Sure, some benefit the gaming use-case more than others. But its not like you buy a "gaming" monitor and then it only runs at 120Hz in games. No, it runs at that all the time (unless you change the settings). In the context of monitors specfically i wouldnt say that there are any features which are "gaming". You have higher refresh rates which will benefit you (to varrying degrees) in almost anything. I also dont know why you would actively seek out a 60Hz monitor if there is a perfectly good 120Hz model available. Even if you arent using it, if it costs more to have 60Hz it would seem like the smart buy is the 120Hz option. After all you are getting more for less. I think you are focusing a bit hard on the "gaming" branding, instead of the actual specs/features and whether the display itself does what you need it to. If i made a perfect display for you but then branded it "for creators". would it suddenly not appeal to you assuming you dont "create"? Or would you look at the specs and go "yup this checks all the boxes". Just buy whatever monitor has the features you want at a price that makes you happy and ignore the BS branding.
  14. isnt every monitor a gaming monitor? In the same way that every monitor is a movie monitor. In the same way that every monitor is a reading monitor. Just because its marketed a certain way doesn't mean its utterly useless for every and anything else.
  15. A lot of films are shot in non 16:9, also known as anamorphic, aspect ratios. 32:9, 21:9, 2.38:9, among others, are all fairly common. So you will see letterboxing (the black bars top and bottom) on countless films produced, dating back at least 20 years or more. The Netflix app properly fills the display with whatever content. So for 16:9 content i have pillar boxes, but watching something shot in 21:9 fills the entire display with no pillar or letter boxing. If i want to watch "The Expanse" for example on prime video, which is shot in 21:9, I have the letter boxing from the app outputting 16:9 only, and then pillar boxing on top of that. Imagine watching a video which can, and should, fill your entire display, but instead takes up 50% of the display in the middle and the rest is just black. That is the experience. My Predator X35 has 1100 Nits of HDR with over 500 dimming zones along with excellent color accuracy, when you watch the right content is a damn good time. All Quiet on the Western Front is an amazing HDR showcase TBH. So i wouldnt say that non 4K or 1080P monitors are bad for picture quality. It very much depends. For every good 16:9 monitor you can find and equal in non 16:9 just as well. You are correct in that most apps will only output to 16:9 formats, but thats different than the format of the actual content itself. Edit - The Expanse is a bad example it looks like I mis-remembered the aspect ratio, Interstellar is a better example.
  16. If you are buying for content consumption of YT and movies like OP wants, the added refresh rate and color accuracy of IPS is surely a selling point. Even if its branded as "gaming"
  17. Ultrawide monitors are still technically a "niche" display formfactor. As an owner of a predator X35 I can tell you that even after 10 years of them being a thing I still see compatibility issues on a daily basis. Any content from a streaming service that isnt Netflix i will see Pillar AND Letterboxing because the apps only fullscreen 16:9 even if the content is 21:9. There are also a slew of games that just straight up wont do 21:9 resolution, or support is so poorly is unusable. Most people get Ultrawide displays because, when they are well supported and used to their fullest, they provide an immersive experience like no other. So, given that their main seller is immersion and content consumption, it makes sense that manufacturers will cater to this audience. Personally i dont know that i would want a second monitor to my left/right which is a Monitor and a half wide. and then have a normal 16:9 panel as my "main" monitor. Would feel like driving a car sideways. That ultrawide wants to be, and should be, the star of the show in your setup IMO.
  18. Leakshield has a maximum pump headpressure that’s around 500 millibar. Basically they tuned it for a single d5 running at 100% and the a bit more. It’s also better to be used with thick walled soft tubing or hard tubing. They’ve also added the ability to set your own custom values for things. It’s come a long way in the year or so I’ve had it.
  19. Maybe I’m missing something but I’m on the Ragnok YT channel and it looks to me like they are all legit videos.
  20. So wait, if they are taking a week off of making content... no WAN show?
  21. Even if a vast majority of the allegations and alleged experiences Maddison claims are exaggerated or made up entirely. There is most likely a kernel of truth here. Im not going to judge one way or the other if what she says is true, we simply dont and cant know what is valid at this point. Perhaps everything Maddison says is 100% true and actually did happen in the way they claim. Perhaps its all false. The reality is its likely somewhere in between and there are many points of view to consider. Something one person might find highly offensive and would make for a hostile environment is not the same for others, and there is also an element of potential exaggeration to include. Im not defending LMG, but im also not going to immediately hate spam them. Same goes for Maddison. We need to let this play out and hear both sides if possible and make an informed judgement instead of bandwagoning one way or another. Somewhere, somehow, someone has proof one way or another and we should be champion for that proof to come out and the truth to be known.
  22. even if half of the allegations are true, its still concerning to be fair.

think you failed to address one of the most imp…

I did use the term may not know. And while he may know that it’s an issue he could still be under misconceptions about the scale. im just playing devils advocate a bit here, I think he should know and should be aware of where his company stands with regard to its self imposed workload. but for the 10 (just a random number) people that will say something in confidence to a friend, maybe 1 or 2 of those will actually bring it up the chain. So (using my totally made up arbitrary numbers) you would only “know” in a factual way about 20% of the scale of the issue. there is a difference between being told and hearing about something and being completely informed and fully aware of the entire depth of that thing.

In fairness to Linus he, allegedly, has not watched any of the “what’s it like to work for Linus” videos. So he may not know about these issues. Of course now that the GN video has come to light and the people have been discussing it openly perhaps that ship has sailed now.
