  1. Thank for the help man, really appreciate it! I was close to going for the 8320 combo but I really do prefer intel, plus being a 1150 socket means I have more room to upgrade in the future.
  2. Ok will do but the CPU+Mobo look okay? Something that will last me a long time without the need to upgrade any time soon.
  3. An intel build I drafted up, for about the same price. The CPU+Mobo are used from Amazon. 4. I'm seeing an intel i5 4590 on amazon, used for £100. Would that be an ok alternative?
  5. My goal ideally is 1080p gaming, high-maxed out if possible. Looking at benchmarks the 880k seems good enough for what I'll need for a while, I'm planning on OC'ing it to around 4.5ghz, that's what the cooler's for. Is it worth spending the extra £12 on the 880k or should I just buy an 860k and save the little cash? My budget to begin with for everything sans the GPU was around the £300 mark so I'm thinking maybe a cheap boot drive SSD and possibly upgrade the RAM to 16GB? I have a couple of 1TB-3TB WD & Samsung drives I'll use for storage. What upgrades would you make to this system? Change it in anyway you like, £300 isn't a set in stone budget. I'd rather spend double and get over double the performance if possible. I'm not an expert at builds as it's been a while. I'm in talks with someone about a used 8320 and an Asus Sabertooth mobo for £140 shipped. Would that be a better buy? £40 more expensive than my current CPU+Mobo combo.
  6. Thanks for the help man, I really appreciate it. I really dig the white case too, think I'm going to switch it up to that!
  7. Sounds like a good idea, will the 8320 be a decent enough CPU to last me another couple of years? I don't mind waiting a few months for a new GPU. I'll pick up the CPU+Mobo deal for £136, grab some decent RAM for £25, looking at this cooler for £20 and the case for £35. Oh and a better PSU. Around £250 in total? I have a crappy r7 250 laying around that will hold me over for graphics until I get a new card
  8. Yeah from what I've seen, the CPU + Mobo for less than £140 is too good a deal to pass up. I can't see myself getting a brand new top of the line card being dropped this month but will it drop more mid-range card prices? I'm only looking for high 1080p gaming, if i can go ultra, great, high would be fine for me...going from xbox one graphics. I have around a week to decide as the guy selling the GPU/PSU has exams until Saturday so I have time to think. From comments it looks like I should go for something else.
  9. That's a pound sign roughly $500. Parts just seem to be a bit more expensive over here compared to the US. For comparison, this 960 is around £95. A new 750ti is around £100. I'll have to take a look at the PSU, see what I can do.
  10. So I'm currently trying to make a new build, on a budget. So after going through different new builds I could make I wasn't quite happy with the specs I was coming up with. My ideal budget at the time was around £300 but I'm bumping that up to £500. To begin with I wanted the most budget gaming rig I could build but decided instead of being a cheapass I should spend a little extra cash to get a rig that will last a little longer. I saw a few posts on on the hardware swap reddit page that caught my eye and planned up a mid-range build that I'm quite happy with but am I paying a good price on these parts? The build: CPU: Used - AMD FX 8320 - £68.5 - (This is in a bundle with my motherboard, paying £132 + paypal fees of £4.85 for a total of £136.85 or £68.5 per part if you look at it that way. The CPU was bought new by the seller 2-3 years ago with a small OC. Watercooled until 6 months ago, after that the seller used a Hyper 212 until 1 month ago, after he stopped using it.) Motherboard: Used - ASUS Sabertooth 990FX - £68.5 - (Said he bought the motherboard off Ebay around 1 year ago, unsure of how long it was used before that.) Memory: New - Kingston HyperX Fury Black (2x4GB) DDR3-1866 - £29.63 - (Just cheap RAM at a decent speed from a good manufacturer.) Video Card: Used - Zotac GTX 960 2GB - £95 - (This was from another seller, selling his video card and PSU for a total of £140 including shipping. The card looks in good condition and comes in box with all accessories included.) PSU: Used - Seasonic G450 80+ Gold Modular - £45 - (Not much to say, he sent me a link to his ebay listing of this and he has 100% feedback with hundreds of items sold, sounds like a promising guy to purchase used parts from. The PSU looks a lot better than the budget EVGA 430w model I was looking at.) Case: New - Corsair SPEC 01 Red - £35.99 - (I just like the look of this case and it's not too expensive. Would be open to suggestions.) I have a couple of HDD's and an SSD here ready to use for data. The only thing I'll need to purchase is a CPU cooler. Looking at all these parts new on pcpartpicker you're looking at around £524 PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor (£112.96 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£139.87 @ Amazon UK) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£29.63 @ More Computers) Video Card: Zotac GeForce GTX 960 2GB Video Card (£143.99 @ Ebuyer) Case: Corsair SPEC-01 RED ATX Mid Tower Case (£35.99 @ Amazon UK) Other: SEASONIC G450 80+ Gold Modular (£61.00) Total: £523.44 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-06-20 00:57 BST+0100 but used it comes to a total of around £343 PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£29.63 @ More Computers) Case: Corsair SPEC-01 RED ATX Mid Tower Case (£35.99 @ Amazon UK) Other: AMD FX 8320 (£68.50) Other: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX (£68.50) Other: ZOTAC GTX 960 2GB (£95.00) Other: SEASONIC G450 80+ Gold Modular (£45.00) Total: £342.62 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-06-20 01:00 BST+0100 A total saving of £181 TL:DR Am I getting a good deal on these used parts?
