DailyProcrastinator got a reaction from Hairless Monkey Boy in Unable to set Ram to 3600MHz. Wont get signal to monitor, cant boot into bios when I try.
    Welcome to the forum!

Honestly mileage can vary with a Mem OC, RAM not being QVL listed doesn't mean it can't OC though. And DOCP is basically just an auto OC mode for memory.

If you cannot enable DOCP you can attempt to manually adjust DRAM speed and voltage.

First make sure your memory is in the correct slots (check your manual). Then download and run MemTest86, make sure there are no issues with your memory kit, if you have the all clear do so as follows.

Check for a Bios update, if there is an available update that pertains to memory stability etc then I would recommend doing so, if the update is not associated with memory then I would not bother at this time.

Go into Bios and disable DOCP, then go to advanced settings, then AI tweaker. From there you are going to want to adjust your memory frequency, I generally recommend single incremental jumps, so beginning from 2666MHz you would go to 2700Mhz, then go down to DRAM Voltage and set it to 1.3500V, and lastly set SOC voltage to 1.100V. Save and exit Bios. If you get caught in a boot loop and the settings reset to default you know the memory OC was not stable.

If stable enough to post into Windows then run a quick stress test, I recommend Cinebench R15 (runs faster than R20) and if stable restart and post boot into Bios. Also, keep in mind stable in a quick stress test is not the same as stable during a gaming session. Windows stop codes related to memory will let you know that your memory OC is not stable.

If you hit instability along the way start upping the DRAM voltage by increments of 0.010V (so 1.360V, 1.370V, 1.380V... etc) until stable, I would not recommend exceeding 1.450V though.

So once stable at 3066MHz you can push further, 3133MHz, 3200MHz, 3266MHz, 3333MHz, and so forth, each time testing stability, possibly adjusting voltage and this is how you OC your memory, eventually you will hit a wall. Hopefully you can achieve 3600Mhz.

Quick and dirty method: Clear CMOS, set all bios settings to default, boot into Windows, Run MemTest86, get the all clear, boot back into bios, set DRAM Voltage to 1.400V, SOC to 1.100V, mem frequency to 3200MHz, and give it a go, if stable push to 3600MHz.

Looks good to me, you will not have compatibly issues.

Although you may need to flash your Bios in order to use a Zen3 CPU. Luckily this has USB Bios Flash (Q-Flash), so it can be done without a previous gen CPU installed.

MB fans are a non issue.

2 main features on the Dark is the Dynamic OC Switcher, and the beefy built in sound card.

Honestly, if I was buying I'd get the STRIX - E, the price premium of the VIII Hero / Dark is pretty high, and you don't get much value.

Yes, the regular hero is 35 usd more then the x570-e. From what all you you are saying, im probably going with the hero. The oc feature of the dark hero is tempting. But i have tu agree that its probably not worth the 235 usd difference between the regular and the dark.

My guess is the roaches broke your psu then. I doubt they would replace a power supply broken like this but you can always call to figure out.

Just came in today - the Unicomp/General Electric Medical Model M (aka, the MMM) buckling springs keyboard. Dated 2013, it came in quite the disgusting shape but I have no doubt it will clean up nicely (although, I've given it a surface clean already)! The keycaps are very colourful for a Model M, featuring the obvious yellow on the numpad era, the red emergency save button, and an array of up to triple dye-sub legends!

The connection is fairly standard - PS/2. It outputs just like any other PC keyboard, so the macros must have been software-side or there's a trigger/Fn combination I'm missing.

While I do not have the specific answer to:
I would think that the outer casing construction is solid enough to tolerate mounting stress. The Corsair AX850 is also one of the best PSU's you can buy. Any modern high quality PSU that I have dealt with has never had coil wine or fan bearing issues. Some of which are of lesser quality than the AX, even within Corsairs own lineup.

If the issue persists just exchange the PSU. Based on the clip It sounds like something is rubbing up directly against the PSU fan, like an internal wire. It does not sound like a bearing.

really nice photography, engineering skills and workmanship.

not sure if you plan to upgrade the GPu at later date, its a good GPU for sure, but compared to the rest of the hardware i am sure you could easy put a 6000 AMD series or 3000 Nvidia series GPU in the future.

nothing worse then build logs that basically has rich kids buy all the high end and expensive components, put them together in a pre made case and they get all the glory for it because its shiny and new components,  But this is the kind of build to myself and i think to many engineering type people that deserves the brownie points.
    excellent job my friend.

oh by the way how did you get sponsored?  i have ideas for future upgrade on my Mars build but right now can't afford the cost of going for the Impact Mini DTX X570 m-board and a 3rd gen Ryzen.

While 750W is enough power, the primary concern here is the quality of this unit and how it would hold up with voltage spikes etc. I highly recommend upgrading if you are getting a 3070. Not worth keeping a cheap PSU that could potentially damage your hardware.
    Refer to this list:
For a 3700x / 3070 build I would recommend no less than a Tier A unit, and 750W is more than enough. (Current PSU it Tier C)

I can personally recommend either of these:

    Noctua NH-L9
    Cryorig C7

Depends entirely how you plan to sell it. Online? Locally?

    If locally:
Go to your local classifieds Compare pricing Price accordingly Local pricing varies far too much region to region. You won't get an accurate idea here.

    Online?
    What platform?
If eBay, check past sold listings, and price accordingly.
If Reddit, they have an area where you can ask current values, from people that use that listing method. Do realize that any suggestion you get here is going to be biased towards the person giving it to you, what they consider it's value. It can be drastically lower than what you could actually get for the item.

It has been a long time since the last time I have showed off a build log and in the meantime my rig has been upgraded several times. Still, as it is now in a state that I am quite satisfied with and am not planning on upgrading anything else in the immediate future, I have decided to finally share it with you, the members of the forum.

As I am certain there might be questions why I have purchased a particular part over another, please do keep in mind the build actually started this time last year, meaning February 2020 and was completed in early November 2020 when I finally managed to get an RTX 3080. This is the reason why I don't have a Ryzen 5000 processor.

    Latest specs:
    - Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X overclocked to 4.3GHz
    - Cooling: 1x EK 360mm radiator, 1x EK 120mm radiator, EK Velocity CPU block, XSPC Photon 270 V2 pump/res combo unit, various EK fittings and 13mm flexible tubing
    - Graphics Card: EVGA RTX 3080 XC3
    - Motherboard: Asus Crosshair VI Extreme X370
    - RAM: 16GB (4x4GB Apacer 2666MHz) overclocked to 3933MHz CL20 and cooler with OCZ Reaper HPC Heatsinks
    - Power Supply: Corsair RM1000i
    - Case: Cooler Master Cosmos C700P Black Edition

February 2020, the motherboard in my last rig (ASRock X99m) stopped recognizing all of the memory dimm slots. Instead of buying another X99 board, I decided to simply build a new rig and sell off whatever parts I got left from the old one. Orders were made and parts started to arrive a week later and the assembly begins.

By the end of February all parts had arrived, including the vertical GPU bracket from Phanteks and at that point the rig was complete and functional. Yet, the case was so big and with so much potential that I wasn't completely happy with the end result. Even with the E-ATX Crosshair VI Extreme it still looked quite empty and sad. At that point I was thinking of swapping the small 120mm Arctic Liquid Freezer, which I had leftover from my previous build for a 360mm AIO. Not only would that have looked a ton better, but it would allow me to overclock the 3900X to the fullest. I was looking at the Arctic Liquid Freezer 360mm, but as at that time the human malware had proliferated all over the place and shipments were halted it was out of stock. The prices of other components were also getting higher, due to the rising demand and at the same time scarcity. At that point I was doing some math and thought it was no longer going to be that much cheaper getting and AIO instead of a customer loop, which turned out not to be the case...

July 2020, decided to go ahead and get liquid cooling gear, but again, due to the human malware even that was easier said than done. None of my local retailers had what I wanted / needed in stock. Therefore, I decided to purchase everything from the manufacturer directly, in this case I ended up going with EK. They had free shipping on orders over a certain amount, had what I needed and were guaranteeing delivery in less than 5 business days. The pump/res combo from XSPC I got from a local classifieds site, was never used, still in original packaging and was dirt cheap. While browsing in that site, I also found new in box steering wheel  and pedal set from Logitech and got that as well. I was stuck working from home anyway so wanted to have something to keep me busy and entertained.

November 2020, I finally managed to get an RTX 3080. The EVGA XC3 wasn't my first choice but was very close to MSRP and I got the new Call of Duty game as a bundle. That was also the month I got interested in memory overclocking so I got some cheap Apacer sticks 4x4GB with standard 2666MHz and also bough some cheap used OCZ DDR2 RAM with the nice Reaper HPC heatsinks, which were designed to handle about 2.1V. I harvested the heatsinks from the DDR2 and put them on the new memory which was a bare pcb only.

This is how my rig looks now. I don't have nay plans for immediate improvements on it. Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

Decided to build myself a good Southpaw75, mostly cause I was bored but also because I kind of wanted to try some modern linears or tactiles (tbh whichever I could find for cheaper). Ended up making one with 67g Sohos, Durock stabs, and the same HK Gaming 9009 caps. I'll probably throw on my OG WoB at some point but I need a different bottom row kit for that...oh well, not a huge deal. I might take some outdoor pics later today.

But yeah, really enjoying these switches. They're stock because I didn't want to spend $50 on lube, paintbrush, swtich opener, etc if I didn't have to, but thankfully they were already very smooth right out of the box. I did lube the Durock stabs but didn't bother bandaid modding as I am a fan of the fairly loud bottom-out.

Overall I'm pretty happy with how this board turned out. I might also try to get a recording later today but these switches are a little too quiet relative to the background noise in my room, so when I do my normal trick of recording and then doing noise reduction in Audacity, the switches sound very tinny and just bad. I'll figure something out.

And yes, this was typed on it lol.
