  1. Okay so a little while ago I lost the little corners you put on noctua fans and I can't seem to find replacements online anywhere. I know you can get the colored ones, but I want the original brown color. anybody know where to get it?
  2. the R5 is like one of my favorite cases. TG is a dumb trend IMO but you can go to a class shop and have them make you a panel. I've done it for people before (not me making the panel) it's a little more spendy but I like it.
  3. Okay everybody strap in you little duckies. I have browsed the forums and everybody says "oh Eatx doesn't work in the r5" Now I know not many people will really care about this but for anybody who is still wondering out there. IT WORKS... I have a Rampage V Extreme in my define r5.Now I had to take out the rubber grommets out. Some people said that the board was too close on the sata solder points.so I put a couple strips of electrical tape where the sata ports and it works fine. and some people said that right angle sata cables won't work, but as you can see they do work .
  4. I know that it would pull a constant 12V, I just thought they were kind of special I guess *shrug* Thanks for letting me know though. And I didn't think about over current protection. this guy seems to know more about this than I do soooo, He'll teach you
  5. Yeah those electric things are usually sacks of garbage. you can get really small air compressors that are only like 1 or 2 gallon. I would just buy one of those (usually pretty cheap, even cheaper if you buy them on the UK equivalent to craigslist, or just craigslist if it's popular there. I got mine used for $30 and they aren't super loud, and even when they are loud it's only for like 4 minutes so any neighbors shouldn't mind.
  6. So if you are talking about what I think you are talking about, old two fin pans were kind of individual to specific motherboards? (all though I could be totally wrong and I'm just making myself look stupid) so when your computer tries to boot it doesn't recognize them and basically says "nop, them some high volt things attached to my fan nipples" and doesn't boot to protect myself. but if you plug them in it doesn't really care. as far as I know they just run at max speed and are usually pretty loud and obnoxious; however I could be totally wrong.
  7. If I were you the 212 is a better quality cooler. If i were you I would get the 212 and you could easily get your 4770k to a modest 4.2ghz ezpz without knowing hardly anything about overclocking. In my opinion just because it's on sale doesn't mean you should get it, especially when it cools one of the most important and expensive parts on your computer. IMO always get the best of what you can afford. So while I would get the 212, if all you can afford is the t2 ( but who doesn't have ~$30 anyway) then get the t2
  8. So we just learned that intel added a new manufactuere in China to produce 8400, i5 8600k, i7 8700 and 8700k CPUs, so getting a 8700k is going to be easier, If you want to go super high end go 8700k or 8600k they can both be overclocked very well and both have 6 cores. Ryzen is a very competitive option. really it is up to you. If it were me I would go for the intel just because of years of consistency and supreme overclocking potential, but I may be more of an overclocker than you. Short answer what Droidbot said I guess
  9. Well personally I would do it if you have the money to spend and want to upgrade; however, you should know that you don't need it. As an x99 platform user myself a lot of my work friends still run x79 and they are going just as well as me. So you probably don't NEED to upgrade, but it could be fun.
  10. I mean it all depends on priorities. If your priority is silence, then don't have any fans, simple as that. Although you might sacrifice on temperatures. you can go into your BIOS to lower the rpm of your CPU fan, keep in mind your processor can get hotter than you might think. seeing at 70C shouldn't be a problem unless you are using it for a very long time at 70C. So if you use somethin glike AIDA64 and it hits 70, you should be fine as you will probably never get to that high of a load in the real world. And both posters before me are correct, the more you run the fans the less they will last (even if it is by a small amount) and you can set them to turn off untill your system gets to a specific temp and they will turn on.
  11. I would think first to your PCIE extender cable, buy something of maybe better quality ( although I'm not sure what quality yours is ) after that try different PCiE slots, and after THAT, I'l think of a different solution if that doesn't work.
  12. that's fine, as long as everything is plugged in correctly, that's all I want to make sure. Also does your computer have a speaker pugged into the motherboard, so wen it turns on does it beep at all ?
  13. Wow, I will also like to say this was 6 years ago or so. seems like it would be a lot easier now. I wish you good luck, I personally don't know razer synapse as I have never used their products.
  14. If you want my opinion I would go with an air cooler, I use noctua coolers but it's always up to you. They give the same performance to a lot of liquid coolers for (sometimes) cheaper and a lot more reliable.
  15. well first of all this is indeed programming. I personally do not play overwatch but I've seen something similar to this in League of Legends. In the base code of League of Legends there was already a function to detect when your Champion takes damage, and the person wrote a program that would detect when that function was being run and they had a rasberry pi flash red LEDs around their computer and play a little like "chk" sound. If you can figure it out that would be amazing and will probably be a fun adventure for you.
