  1. Also 6700k owner here. I feel your pain, this CPU seems odd. I can get awesome frames in a lot of average games, but it can tank hard during certain games, even with useage being checked etc. Nothing heat related or CPU issue, it just struggles. Compared to an 8700k on the same task, it definately does not keep up anymore. Just what my own experience is so far Edit: I've been tempted to upgrade but hard to tell if worth doing with new hardware around the corner.
  2. Yeah that's a very valid point actually. Would also like the feeling of having something spanking new to test around with Yeah understandable, I don't mind waiting a little so ryzen 2 wil kind of come during that time. Would be nice to se benchmarks Yeah the difference in gain between the two when changing the speed in RAM speed is actually somewhat insane, seeing as how much ryzen gain over intel with the speed gain, so will defiantely be interesting to witness. Already crazy so shrink would be two birds with one stone Jk The CPU is fine for majority games, but a few have some issues, unfortunately my main game does consume all the resources in the world, even worse when trying to stream on a cpu heavy game which makes it chug like there's no tomorow (Even on Nvenc) Yeah that's true, right now it's just speculation so we can only really hope for an improovement, or expectations to be met, problem with setting expectations is if it releases and does not perform people will reflect badly due to the expectations setup. Overall it's a tough decision, but i'm leaning more towards waiting it out a little, with valid points raised about getting hardware when released, new possible hardware on the horizon and possible effective alternatives ryzen-g up. Sorry, it was worth it.
  3. So folks have been discussing a few things here, let me add an additional question, would there be any overlap between the next gen intel cpu's and DDR5? Or would that be too much of a close-cut scenario for it to be a realistic implimentation?
  4. Its true people like conflict but by witnessing others opinions I can make a semi informed decision atleast, so this so far has been useful for me
  5. I'll not lie, if the next zen2 16core has single core performance equivallent to 9900k in gaming, i'd jump on it happilly.
  6. In terms of memory speed or other BIOS specifics? Memory is 2777 I believe, can't clock it any higher without it not starting up, from 2333 I believe (Don't quote those numbers but they are very close i'm fairly certain), in terms of amount, 16GB. Ussually memory useage during streams is fine as well, always 3-5gb of headroom.
  7. Unfortunately not, it just can't put anymore on the CPU, it's capped 100% causing stuttering when on quicksync
  8. For general games it's actually good and has no issues (Paired with my gtx 1080). However when it comes to my main game - Planetside 2, it struggles hard, but I should mention that game chugs resources like there's no tomorow. Mostly because of how demanding the scale of the game is (200 v 200 all human player fights, infantry, tanks, air, etc). Lots of stuff to render entities, tracers, explosions etc. For streaming I use NVenc, there is no way in heck that 6700k could handle any others right now when streaming this game. Even at 720 60, it chugs streaming on 720 60 with nvenc due to the insane cpu useage of that game. But it is my main game per say with 3k+ hours
  9. That's what I personally see, especially with what I play, I know average benchmarks they aren't that hugely differentiated, however i've found that in live environments the difference seems noticeable gaming wise. What I play an OC'd 2700 OC'd for some reason still falls signifcantly behind an 8700k, by a comparable 30-50 fps, in a game where fps isn't great due to already abysmal optimisation. Right now i'm still plit down the middle as both sides have good points - I'd have enough performance with a 9900k for what i'd need, but at the same time even more would be available come next gen which (Theoretically) isn't far off. A bit of mention to the 8700k here. The jump from 7790k (Isn't it?) to the 8700k was fairly significant and more than what I was expecting. I'm just curious (Obviously nothing but rumour to confirm at this point), if next gen intel would have that jump again from 9900k to [Insert some unpredictable probably non-linear number]-k. Right now i'm using a 6700k and boy is it starting to chug a bit. Current 6700k sitting on 4.7 air with stable temps.
  10. In terms of waiting, I can wait a while as long as there is some sort of information coming out, I could wait 4/5 months for an announcement, update or "Kinda confirmed leak but still rumour"-thing, as that would encourage me to go the extra few months after knowing its around the corner. Obviously we're just playing a game of guessing here trying to know when it'll released but trying to make somewhat of an educated guess based on information.
  11. Hello, So referencing the previous thread Here I have selected a Cooler Master H500M for some RGB puke with good air pressure. I love the look of the case, however i'm still half conflicted if I should settle for something like a meshify C, however having seen the RGB meshify C it's not so much to my liking. Yes, i'm really asking this question, so what cases exist that are more like the Meshify C form factor but RGB puke'ified like the H500M? Possibly have some nice glass accents Opinions and thoughts are very welcome here. Additional information: Plan on using a Noctua NH-D15 for cooling a 9900k in the case so need pretty decent airflow, H500M has good positive airflow as far as i'm aware.
  12. Hello folks, So as mentioned over at Here I am curious about my investment into a 9900k, I can actively afford to purchase it now, however i'm curious if it might be better to just wait for next gen intel release, as such i'm kinda curious of people's thoughts on the rumour mill at the moment. Yes asking people what is happenning via rumour mill may cause some insanity and a massive war but hey ho lets get on with it civilly...kinda So, what are people's thoughts, dig into a 9900k now or wait for (what is the rumour?) date of next release? Reason for the 9900k is as I stream it'd be useful, however the games I play favour intel so much more over ryzen or threadripper that it is a little mad.
  13. Ah, I was somewhat hoping to try OC it to around 4.8/4.9 with the noctua, as above that I don't think the thermal increase is worth the gain honestly. Hmmm i'm quite interested in intel's 14nm++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ however it's just about timing, i'd rather wait a few months rather than get top end now and have it outdated so soon, so may wait till around summer when the rumour mill starts going haywire. Owh, I think it's time to start searching for some meshify C cases with RGB installs for curiousity sake.
  14. Hey folks. So i'm currently running a 6700k/gtx 1080(non-ti) setup. I'm actually happy with the GTX1080 oddly as what I play hits the CPU way harder. I have a build here: I'm looking for something high end with a little bit of RGB vomit. Now what i'm keeping from my old build would be my noctua NH-D15 (I'm sure it might become an eyesore in the theme so may respray it) & the GTX1080. The reason for 9900k is simply as I enjoy using a one PC streaming setup but I prioritise having more frames in-game than focusing on the stream, as stream-wise it would be fine regardless, especially with the game I play specifically which favours intel much more. So you haven't asked us a question yet ಠ_ಠ Ok, ok, in terms of questions, how insane am I for considering this build alongside my kept parts? The case is actually the thing that's annoying me the most, as i'm still tempted to just kick the RGB out and go with something like the meshify C, for a smaller case size....However that RGB keeps tempting me back in with the H500M. Bonus question, would the Noctua NH-D15 struggle cooling this thing? What's the (Rumour ofcourse) timeframe for the next generation intel processors? Keep it civil pls guys I like opinions but no flame over brands
