  1. no, this cpu doesnt overclock, and my graphics card is not either
  2. Every hour or so while I'm playing VR, my Oculus Rift S (This only happens under heavier workloads) will completely freeze it's screen. I come back to my computer and I see that everything is also frozen. I click buttons and my mouse with no results and am forced to reset my computer every time. I have tried all the basic solutions such as driver updates, de-fragmenting, and checking for lost files. I want to start troubleshooting hardware but I don't know where to look first. I don't have extra motherboards or gpus to test with however. I was hoping some experts would know what could be the problem (drive, gpu, mb, or ram?). Nothing is even close to overheating. My specs are below, Thanks for the help. CPU: i7 6700, GPU: GTX 960 (I know its below the recommended but I still get normal fps) RAM: 16GB 1666mhz MB: MSI Z-270 pro gaming AC, Two HD's 1TB SSHD 7200, 2TB 7200, PSU: Seasonic Gold 750w
  3. It could the ram going faulty, if they are memory leaks. Are processes slowing down? Or are they just running fine and the task manager says it's all being used.
  4. wup it's working all of a sudden. Horray.
  5. CPU and GPU at 64 whie playing overwatch and 50 at idle
  6. All the setting are correct and drivers are updated.
  7. I'm absolutely sure I'm using the high performance graphics, and also something extra I forgot to add was that you can't do anything about it in the bios settings like with lenovo laptops.
  8. It probably does white in effects. There's no reason it shouldn't be able to. The white will look a bit blue/purple but it shouldn't be too noticeable. My friend's looked fine.
  9. You can lower the clock and voltage down a tiny bit and make sure the heatsink is on. It's an old chip so that just may be what it is.
  10. I currently have an Alienware 15 R3 with a 1060, i5 and 16 gigs of ram. My options are set to dedicated graphics in the Nvidia control panel. When I play the games, I get a really low fps, for example (exaggerating a tinny bit) if I were to play Minecraft, I would get 40 fps, at an unlocked fps. When I check the "f3" tab for hardware specs, only the intergrated graphics HD530 shows up instead of the 1060. I know for sure this card can do better. A few years back on my 960 I got 200 FPS minimum and this GPU wouldn't be a downgrade. Anybody know what's up with this? Could the i5 be a bottle neck? Thanks. Let me know if you need a photo.
  11. ok, where would I get one of those for a cheapish price?
  12. I'm trying to power my 180w charger for my laptop as well as some other minor camera gear, and multiple phones at once.
  13. I'd recommend upgrading the power supply to 400w minimum just to be sure, then the 1050ti would be ok.
  14. It my last post I was very new to hobby electronics ( and still kind of am), but I think I've learned a few things after watching a bunch of videos about this. Previously I was wanting to make a battery bank with an AC output, but I really didn't know how. Basically what I'm thinking now is line some 18650 batteries up in a series of 3 to make around a 12v battery. I could use a bms to make sure it's all charging correctly and stuff, on the other side, I could use one of the dc-dc converters to keep the current at 12v steadily while a DC-DC Car converter is hooked up to one of the car converts. Do you think this would work or is this just stupid. I wanted to use 18650 batteries because they were pretty small, and stable, put I guess I could use some small lead acid 12v batteries like these: https://www.batterysharks.com/12-Volt-2-9-Amp-Sealed-Lead-Acid-Battery-p/12V-2.9AH_B12-2.9.htm?gclid=Cj0KCQjwx8fOBRD7ARIsAPVq-NkN3tQ9Nv38JuATSJ-z3RZj6AsLvzvY1UweB_jV50Q665s15b94JRMaAtA3EALw_wcB Here's the stuff I was thinking of: converter: http://ebay.to/2ki11qA bms: http://amzn.to/2fFTJHX
