  1. Thanks for the reply. Well when i moved it to my HDD it detected it. It was just identifying files which were already there, then it crashed. You might have misunderstood the initial post as the problem was not Game not detecting, but actually disk drive crashing when downloading/updating/accessing steam game. I see your tips are very useful but unfortunately that was not the problem in this case.
  2. Tucked securely in a drive rack horizontally.
  3. Thanks for the reply. Yep but its only when downloading/reading steam games using steam client. When i transfer files from my SSD to the HDD it does not have any noises. It if not for me being able to use the HDD without errors/noises for every other use I would have gone straight to the conclusion that I need to replace it. Indeed I will replace it soon if the buzzing occurs more. Buying online is unreliable here so Im looking for solutions I could try first.
  4. Thanks for the reply. After reading your tips I tried to download a steam game to my SSD then move it to my HDD. Unfortunately, when its identifying game files the same DISK WRITE ERROR occurs. BUT the transfer of the game files is perfectly fine, all 20gb if game files transferred to my HDD. Pretty strange.
  5. Recently i have been having problems with my steam downloading new games on to my 2nd storage drive which is my HDD (just less than a year old). Whenever I download/update a game that is located in the HDD, i get DISK WRITE ERROR, hear a buzzing noise from the disk and the HDD crashes (not showing up in File explorer for a few mins). Initially, I thought it is just failed/died but I just downloaded Valorant and I can play it perfectly fine. I even reinstalled Valorant on the same disk and everything is ok. It made me suspect that it could be steams problem but im not sure. I do have some Steam games downloaded into my C drive which is a SSD. The SSD does not crash when I download/update Games into it. If anyone has any tips on how to solve this problem, a reply would be greatly appreciated. If you are going to suggest to buy a new disk please recommend models/brands while keeping in mind that in my country PC parts are quite expensive (so no HDD + SSD partitioned as cache). I do not need much storage just around 512gb is enough for the next year or so.
  6. Thanks for the reply. As i stated PC parts are expensive here so i cant buy both but i will take your advice to buy an SSD into consideration. As i do not mind smaller capacity. Thanks for the reply. As i stated pc parts are expensive here so i cant really buy both. You mentioned about HDD failure being uncommon with good brands, are seagate and WD good brands? (i had problems with seagate and just wanna know if its just 1 bad hardware)
  7. Im still pretty new to the PC building industry, I have only built 1 pc in 2015 and have been upgrading it over the years. HDD model : Seagate BarraCuda 1Tb 7200rpm My HDD which was bought Dec 2018 failed/bad sector at June 2019. Got it replaced after 1 month. Again replacement failed Dec 2019 and got another. Now HDD kinda failing. Every time I try to install a Steam game it just keeps crashing the drive (DISK WRITE ERROR) . The drive will not be in file explorer for a few mins then it will come back. Also some buzzing noises can be heard when the drive dies. Strangely i can still download and watch my videos using that drive. I am not sure that its failing again or its just Steam problems. Which comes to the reason why I am here. I would like to ask for advice, Should I 1. Live with a HDD which kinda works but cant keep games 2. Buy another HDD and risking it failing in 3-5 months 3. Buy a 512 SSD (my SSD has never failed me in 4 years) 4. Try to fix the HDD (please give tips on how to fix) I would definitely love to hear some advice as PC parts are expensive in my country and im just a student. Note: I do not shake/hit my desk, The HDD is installed in a drawer bracket, I only moved my pc 2 times this year which was in Feb and Mar. This is so no one can say that I have been shaking my PC. TLDR; Replace HDD or Try to fix HDD or Buy SSD EDIT: I have been playing Valorant and League of Legends on my HDD and its doing fine but the problem only occurs with steam games
  8. IDK which to tag as the ans since its a collective ans form multiple comments so i will put them here if anyone happens to stumble across this post and needs an answer
  9. Keep in mind my cpu and mobo are bad (soon to upgrade) and can only support up to 2133 dual channel. So im thinking if im going to slow my new ram anyways might as well have more. (until i upgrade my cpu n mobo) But will there be a "Dual channel" problem if i put all 4 sticks in? And if so What is the problem and is the solution easy? And if not I will stick 4 of them in there and have some extra ram for pretty much nothing but eh more ram (ONLY IF THERE IS NO PROBLEMS) Note; i understand what you mean. I probably will be able to notice faster ram IF only i had a setup that supports it NOW
  10. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Thank you for backing up your words . Thank you for actually answing my question. Thanks man
  11. Im sorry i just had to make sure as someone sent me an essay on regarding why im dumb and should not upgrade to this ram because it bottlenecked by cpu (despite my note) and also mentioned that this ram kit wont work without major bios settings changes as it is optimised for AMD cpus Edit ; i will also leave this post open for an hour or so to see what others think
  12. Sorry i did not mention that i already know about the CPU bottleneck. I just want to know if it will work at all without problems
  13. So i was planning to upgrade my ram to the G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 3600Mhz 8gbx2 kit. The ram is on discount at a shop in my country which does not have many good pc parts shop (online is mostly scams/refurbished). When I asked about ram arrangements on another post at here and also at another site https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/ram-upgrading-and-mixing-question.3545979/ There were people mentioning that this ram model is made/optimised for AMD (which i already know from a quick trip to the gskill website). Does this mean I cannot use this ram in my Intel rig? i5 6500 ( https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/88184/intel-core-i5-6500-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-60-ghz.html) Msi Armor x2 Gtx 950 oc Msi b150m bazooka ( https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B150M-BAZOOKA/Specification) HyperX Fury ddr4 4gb*2 2133 Would it be better to buy the normal G.Skill Trident Z RBG 3200Mhz 8gbx2 at a slighly higher price? note: Please do not get offended at my rig or my choices. I do not mean to attack you. I just want to know if this ram will work TLDR; Can i use G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB 3600Mhz 8gbx2 ram kit in my Intel rig without having problems? EDIT; YES i know it wont run at 3600 but i do plan to upgrade soon
  14. I see what you are getting at here. i havent gotten the 16gb yet so thats why im saing that my 8gb is not enough. The 8gb is not enough because im running a minecraft server when i play it and also when im playing other esports title/lighter games. Minecraft servers do take up some ram
  15. Lets just say its end of the year me and my friends want to play some games ahem minecraft. Give it the server takes 4gb and my game takes 4gb and i have music and some chrome tabs in the background. So yes you are right on not all programs exceed 8gb. as said in the post I do agree with you its just i somehow seem to run out of ram despite not playing many AAA games. And about the 24gb. I would rather have more ram if there is only a small speed reduction. If the drop is major than i will not use 24gb. The main question is CAN i and if so SHOULD i (based on performance drops etc)
