Need help, weird spot on recently bought monitor.

I thought about dead pixels, but then when a video image is beeing sent to the monitor it should also be there. But it is not there when video is shown.
  4. Dear members of the forum, I recently bought a 2nd hand monitor. Now I know you need to look out for defects on the monitor before you buy it. Unfortunately I was in a hurry and hooked my laptop up to it and all was fine with the picture. Last night is set up the monitor to my main rig and discovered something. When the monitor is on but not receiving video there is a weird spot on the monitor. It about 2 cm in length and 0.5 cm in height. The spot only shows when there is no video sent to the monitor. Does anybody know what this is????

    MSI GS70 Stealth

I currently use the last generation of the GS70 Stealth Pro with the 880M video chip. But I think @Linus forgot a group of users when talking about who the laptop is for. My use for the laptop is professional, my job as a software engineer requires me to take a powerfull workstation to all kind of customers. For me, the weight is a big thing for a 17" laptop, I lug that thing around all day, every day. But as most of you guys I like a bit of gaming to, dispite the heat output the GS70 Stealth Pro is a beast of a thing. But.....those new colors are just horrible imho
