  1. Wrong. Im not that familiar with Kotaku itself, but Jason (the writer) is very respected and also the story blew up so much that even BioWare confirmed it to a certain extent.
  2. I would guess you didnt read the Anthem piece. Im not really familiar with Kotaku, but this article was just amazing investigative journalism, so maybe the joke is on you..
  3. In e-sports, women and men can compete in the same teams (because its not a physical sport) and in dota there are ZERO women that play in a real pro level. I think that will change, and thats good, just like the South American scene is growing internationally (Im brazilian and very happy to see a brazilian team going to most majors, and even if they lose most of the times, its still an evolution). The main problem IMO is that the new generation of "gamer girls" is not ready yet. Im 23 and most of the women I grew up with didnt play (or dont until today) - gaming was a male activity, so most women didnt grew up gaming (like most males), but nowadays this is changing rapidly. In the end, its all math: some research shows that 50% of gamers are female, but they dont take into account the AMOUNT of time they play (daily/weekly or whatever), the amount of time they have been playing (since 6yo? since 20yo?) and if they are playing competitive games. I would guess that in competitive games, balancing by gameplay TIME, it would still be 98%+ men.
  4. How they would force pirates and not buyers? Also, just limit the fps. And fallout.ini is hidden iirc, but you certainly have it, if you played at least once.
  5. LTT didnt get it YET because they are canadian, most likely. Also how Linus bash samsung phones? In the end of the day he ALWAYS goes back to his samsung. criticizing!= disliking
  6. I agree that merch can be a "ez money" strat from popular ppl, but it can also be VERY good. I never bought merch, but I would buy merch that is neutral and has good quality, to help some creator and at the same time get something nice for myself.
  7. Just some personal experience: When I was a noob, I got a pc with a I7 2600. That was probably before the 3rd gen came, so pay attention to its lifespam. I used it with the stock cooler and paste for maybe 4 years? It was a really long time, but anyway, one day the pc started shutting down. I was a bit more tech literate at the time, so I figured it out: it was shutting down because of THERMALS. Yep, it was getting 105°C hot, so I changed the cooler and the problem was solved... I kept it for 2 more years after that (I think) so the chip is 6+ years old, and the IHS is not making proper contact with the silicon (thermal dilation) but with a hyper t4 cooler it manages temps lower than 85°C. So yeah, the chip will become obsolete before he dies because of heat.
  8. New job in the UK: porn hacker. Be ready to make money, bois.
  9. I guess it is a game problem, or at least to AMD cards (since the gtx 1060 is fine). But still, I heard ppl with gtx 1070 complaining about dips, so it might be like Fallout 4 inner city, where performance is just bad for some reason
  10. Also, if you spent all your gourds and died, sometimes its best to not even bother resurrecting.
  11. I had similar problems in areas with lots of fire and some others, but it was more of a drop to 50 fps and it didnt stand thete for too long. Also using a rx 580, playing on high. Most of the time I get 60 fps constant.
  12. Well, yeah. But thats what im saying: think about games. They are not inherently for man, but historically man always played more games. I grow up playing, and most women I know didnt. Today that is different, research suggests there are the same amiunt of man and women playing, BUT still that does not translate well because man play a lot more. Unlike sports, there is no reason women cant play pro games in the same teams as man, but that still is VERY uncommon - but in the future I believe that will change, as it already is. On IT I think the same will happen, more women are getting interested, building careers and closing the gap in the tech space.
  13. My ex-gf studies and works in IT, and in my experience the problem is the amount of women working in this field. It is a male dominated field, so in a class of 30 people, usually only 5 are women. It is getting better, just like engineering (which is my course) only had 1 women to 1000 man, nowadays the gap is closing. But that takes a lot of time. Edit: just to be clear, not saying IT is the same as engineering. It is undeniable that some jobs are (for some reason I cant wrap my head around) dominated by certain people. Here for example: it is almost impossible to find a female bus driver. Some people take the bus their whole life and see only 1-2 female drivers.
  14. The worst offender, and totally unnaceptable IMO, was the "The only way to upgrade your macbook". It crosses the line from clickbait to blatant lie, and I still dont believe they didnt change the name. I defend their right to "clickbait" as it is good for the bottom line, but this one... Its shameful.
  15. Team wallet. Computer hardware is expensive, money is hard to get. Just see what you need to do what you want, and then get the thing that does that for the least amount of money.
  16. Well, to be fair Huawei is getting rekt by a lot of countries because of that. But I agree, this chinese government angle is flimsy at best IMO. It looks like a cherry picked privacy issue to me.
  17. Also show him my signature, Just for good measure. 1440p high will be better for sure, he could even get a bigger panel (27") and keep a good PPI... Or maybe get a 24" and have really high PPI. Basically you are getting something, and by playing on ultra (vs high) you are only losing fps and gaining nothing.
  18. True. That question to me sounds like "Should accountants know how to cook?" - well, it is a nice thing to know, but it does not really relate to your job.
  19. Are you okay Riley? Blink on the next techlinked if you need "help".
  20. I guess this is the pc going "20 games in a row?!?! Ffs man, take a break"
  21. If your system is overkill, no. Because you wont gain anything. Otherwise, yes. Its free performance afterall.
  22. Me too, but unfortunately not every mom is smart. Actually, a LOT of moms are dumb or irresponsible. Im not saying OP's mom is stupid, but sometimes parents are "afraid" of technology... And if it is a mistake indeed, than let your son learn it by making the mistake.
  23. Do they really? I dont play the game but that sounds dumb AF
  24. Couldnt disagree more. The game is excelent, gives a ton of freedom and the story is really engaging. It is an old game and that shows, its not perfect for sure, but it is considered by many the best fallout game. I played fo3,fo4 and NV and every one of them is good in its own way. So I guess its obvious that I recommend NV, but my top recommendations (lets keep it short) are: Divinity Original Sin 2: Its a turn based rpg, the combat is AMAZING, the story is insanely good and you have A TON of freedom. Its really hard to find flaws in this game, its just a bit hard to learn at first. The Witcher 3. What can I say? Its one of the best games ever made. Its a must, unless the game is really not your style.
