Quagmaire got a reaction from Queen Chrysalis in My New Upgrade (WoW Dragonflight made me do it)
Not sure if this is the right place to post this so sorry in advance!

So recently I've been playing the new WoW expansion and I was starting to have some low framerates (40s which I wasn't happy with). My old system was a 6700k and a GTX 1070 strix.

I decided to treat myself for the new year and have a cheeky upgrade! I managed to find a RTX 3070 TUF edition for £400 used, I added some sleeved cables and modded the case with dbrand skins ( I got the 1msq panels from aprils fools the year before and was saving them for a rainy day)

    Specs are ;

CPU - i7 6700k RAM - 16GB 3200mz Corsair LED white ( literally bought them 2 months before they brought out the RGB ones sadge) MOBO - MSI Z170 Mortar AIO - Corsair something  GFX - Asus TUF RTX 3070 Storage - 1TB NVME SSD in an adapter - 512 GB Samsung 860 evo Case - NZXT H410 Mouse - Razer Naga 2020 Left handed edition ( I'm a one handed gamer with a disability) Keyboard - Razer something with browns Headset's - Senheiser HD 569s - Sony MX1000 mk iii ( cant remember model number ) Mic - Blue yeti snowball  Speakers - M- Audio 5 inch studio monitors Audio interface - Focusrite Scarlet Solo - M Audio MTrack Hub Deskpad - LTTSTORE deskpad  Monitors - LG Ultrawide ( 75 Hz) cant remember model  - BenQ 24" IPS

Ignore the mess this was when I first moved here!

    Thanks for your time everyone!

Yes that is easily done. What I would recommend is setting up the second router as a repeater. There should be a setting for this in the settings menu. This will allow for seamless switching and your device will think that it is one network

Here is a link for a simple guide that you can use to follow .

This will depend on the brand that you have but they should all roughly follow the same process of setting this up.

Primochill. EK cryofuel is great. Basic stuff, never heard of any problems with any of them. Also, clear liquids tend to do better than opaque liquids. But do as you wish, you should be flushing your loop out before anything happens anyways.

as long as there is enough liquid in the res that the pump isnt taking in a bunch of air that should be fine, my pump is sideways atm

Not a bad system that you have there but i noticed that you have a none K processor. This is still good but the stock cooler is pants. What I would do is pick up cheap one like the 212 evo or the cryo C7 . Both of these are good options

normally that's a problem in the bios, so unstable cpu oc or some crucial cpu recourses are turned off (partly or fully)

With a 1070 , you only really need a 500W PSU . Make sure that you have the right power connectors though. You can check this by looking at the power connectors ladled PCI-E on your power supply and seeing if they match up to the ones on the GPU.

After you have installed the card , make sure that you update the drivers too then its all done . GPU is an easy upgrade that you can perfom

The easiest test to determine if it is a gpu or case problem.
Remove the side panel, and then see how the temps are.
If the temps dropped then it is a case problem, if they stayed the same then gpu.

Quagmaire reacted to Tarun10 in MSI gtx 1080 hot
You should just run your fans at max RPM if you don't want high temperatures. You could also repaste your GPU to drop temps a but. Check for new drivers and BIOS on MSI website. If possible remove any mesh on the front intakes to increase airflow but this case is designed for silence and as long as temps don't cross 90 you should be fine.

I would try Revo uninstaller, download the pro version(trial) and use the force uninstall option.

That case looks like it has no airflow at all from the front as all the vents are almost completely blocked so that would easily explain the high GPU temps.
The top is exhaust or intake? (not that it really matters for the GPU temps in this case).

Just remove the side panel and look at how much your GPU temps will drop.

What is your case airflow like? There might not be enough cool air blowing around the system too. Try speeding up your case fans if you can

At stock settings?? Its okay because some MSI cards have bad coolers but just to be safe update drivers and software and see if you can set a custom fan profile to lower temps.

Unfortunately these do not simply exist. This is due to IPS panel technology being harder to get to a higher refresh rate than the likes of TN panels. I myself found a few 27” but none in the 24” size that you were looking for .

You would have to make a compromise for a TN panel to even get within your price range too

Quagmaire got a reaction from LukeSavenije in Ram upgrade laptop
Generally speaking , you can. You just need to take the right precautions.

    1. Make sure that you power down the laptop properly by holding down the power button for 5 seconds and this is like a hard shutdown for the laptop.

    2. Make sure you either ; wear a antistatic wristband or at least work on a hard floor with a table . This is to stop you giving the components a static shock.

Quagmaire got a reaction from LukeSavenije in ram not running correct speed?
There is two ways that you can go about this.

The first way is enabling XMP. This is a setting in the bios of the motherboard . Look for the RAM settings and make sure the button says ‘enabled’ This will allow your RAM to run at its full potential (The rated speed that it was advertised at).

The second way is overclocking the RAM although I would not recommend doing this at its not a super common practise.
