Rx480 is a great card, also seems to be the outperforming the close competition of the 1060 with latest drivers but both are amazing at that price point!

Cheers, sound advice, best way to save money is not spending!

Currently have the 7970, do you think I should hold off and upgrade to the current releases? Cheers for the response!

Does anybody know how much better the 970 is than HD7970 after the relive update?

Do you know how easy it is to come by z97 mATX boards compared to ATX boards? are they still in circulation?
-
mini C only support mATX. So my question is basically size vs ATX compatibility

Based in the UK and need to re house my PC. Price difference is tiny (£5). I currently have a mATX board Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2V. Size is an important consideration, small uni rooms. I like the ability to move to an ATX z97 board for my i7 4770K in the future though. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Currently in a super budget build with an old hd 7970 would be awesome to try some vr in it. Best of luck to all other competitors

Cheers for all the help so far, what psu would you recommend in the 550 to 650 watt range? Budget being a large consideration!- 10 replies

I'm hoping to eventually make this machine vr capable so a z97 and an i5 4590k would be purchased used in the future. The toshiba ssd is the q300? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01AWP7O7Y/ref=gbps_tit_s-3_4687_97a354bd?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_p=968124687&pf_rd_s=slot-3&pf_rd_t=701&pf_rd_i=gb_main&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=HNFS1EHZ6MPGX860EQAY- 10 replies

Cheers for the advice! Regarding the GA-B85M-D2V will it support overclocking? The skylake i5 6500 is nice but it blows my budget out of the water and will the skylake architecture be of much benefit? Amazon currently has a sale on Toshiba ssds are they any good? I was under the impression that the r9 280x was just a slightly reworked 7970 and a gtx 970 would be very nice but yeah pricing is currently prohibitive, will see once the 1070 actually releases. The only reason the R5 was on there was because nearby someone was selling one for about 40 and that seemed like a good deal.- 10 replies

Hey, I'm a uk based university student, with a budget maxing out at about £400, I'm hoping to build a desktop as I have only ever had a laptop and it has started to give me some trouble. I am hoping to do a decent amount of gaming (would like to run recent games at 1080p on high) on the rig but it will also need to able to handle some demanding programmes a bit of photoshop etc. I was impressed with this video: And my build has some similarities mixing old and new tech (new psu, mobo and storage). Initially I was thinking Ivy Bridge because i5- 2500k are very affordable used but finding good mobos proved difficult and it limited my future upgradability, trying to get the same price range with haswell meant I had to lose the quad core and go for an i3 hoping to upgrade to a 4790k in the future. Hoping to do some OC in the future, I already have peripherals and will likely be running on one monitor. Here is the parts list: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/4JFwr7 The ram is just a place holder and most of pc part picker's prices are high compared to the used market. Any advice would be great!
