Doesn't seem a problem for OP. Looking up my old OC results I was also benching mine at 4.5 GHz 1.3v if CPU-Z is reporting correctly (doesn't always). I vaguely recall the memory ratios didn't have so many options so wonder if that contributed to your previous problems.

Haswell was a great overclocking generation. You mentioned looking at Broadwell earlier, that doesn't clock as well so I'd suggest skipping that. Hardly gets above 4.0 GHz.

As I said earlier, for gaming I'd take a 5820k at 4.5 GHz over 6700k at 4.5 GHz. For more demanding modern games quad core is going to be limiting, so even if 6700k is slightly better from IPC, I don't think that makes up for having the extra cores.

No point selling systems as there is nothing to buy in the current market that makes sense

At least it’s a Bseries not an A series. Motherboard tierlist is listing it as tier F though so 3600 is the most it will do.  Most 3xx boards don’t have a bios for 5xxx series cpus.

We don't know yet. No actual benchmark data is released for 4000 up to 9000 series + 3080 let a lone 3070 -- heck, people who ordered on the first second probably still have their cards in the warehouse being prepared for shipment.

My little brother has my old 4790K and I have the 3950X. Once I get a hold of a 3070 next month, I'll let you know for sure... (If I remember)

    never said i have a z77 mobo,
But disregarding that. My Cpu , ram , Mobo combo sells around $300 so the 4770k is a 100$ upgrade overall.
    While my 3770 sells for about $150 and a 3770k is around $250 .. so again a $100 upgarde

yes it uses too much ram  this is what im getting at, 8gb of ram is not enough for some games, not all but some, but if he can add 8gb of ram later, then i fully support your idea of getting 8gb now and a 1070.

Or if you want to go ryzen go someting like the 1600 or 1600x . Or maybe even ryzen 7 but i dont think its worth it . Depends on what cpu you have now.

also 16gb ram is prefered but 8gb will still be kindof ok

you don't need to buy thermal paste the 212EVO comes with some. and RX580 should be a better bang for the buck at that price range (you might want the nvida option though so do what ever you want). and lastly you don't need to buy extra fans the case comes with plenty and they're good enough

Only thing I'd add to the discussion is that for the PSU, maybe the Cooler Master V650 or EVGA G3 550W will be better choices for around $80 (with current pricing). Seems like you guys are taking care of the rest

You need to upgrade your CPU. In which case you should probably go for a ryzen CPU which is the best bang for your buck out right now including used CPUs .

lets say you go ryzen. So it will cost you $350  or so to upgrade
    https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hFrBJV
Then you get a pc that runs ok at 1080p. So taht means you have just spent your initial $300 plus $350 = $650 and have the pc you have now.
    OR :
sell what you have for say $250 and take a $50 loss then add $550 (the difference to $600) for a better PC.

at the end of the day the $600 new PC will be BETTER than the upgraded $650 PC

Get the 1060 and you wont need to upgrade for a long time.
this way you are looking at 650$ and you are good !

Similarly coming from a Java background I personally found Swift quite an easy language to pick up and was a great entrance into native iOS development. Despite how much Apple are pushing Swift, there is still a lot of Objective-C around though so I definitely wouldn't try and shy away from learning it even if it isn't your primary language.

In terms of IDE's your options are really either AppCode or Xcode. Despite being the obvious choice, actually being made by Apple, Xcode is honestly not that good especially for Swift (which again, is their language). Basic refactoring is still not supported and many activities are a bit of a chore and probably cause the IDE to crash. Saying that if you want to use the interface builder then you've pretty much got to use it for some stuff. Whilst swapping between them can be quite laborious, the benefits (such as better debugging, refactoring support, and a better overall experience) mean I'd rather use it for primary development. It's also worth noting that AppCode is not free (which Xcode is).

In terms of a starting point I would probably recommend using (contradicting my previous statement) Xcode's "Playgrounds" feature and just get a feel for the classes and APIs available to you without the daunt of an entire project. Keep it small with a single view, add some text and buttons and see what you can come up with. I also find (whilst milage may vary) that exploring open-source projects and trying to contribute is a great way to see some good (and bad) practices!
