    It'll get easier the higher up you go. All this little stuff will become natural in no time. Make sure to challenge yourself though. Don't ask for a solution, but ask for help towards a solution. It's hard, but it helps immensely

    or could i use word.title() command?

    so far I have

    def title(word)

    then im assuming i have to do .upper(0)  idk. and lower case rest of word? how would I go about it?

    Okay so I wouldn't necessarily make a tuple of the inputs, since you will always have exactly two names. You could do something like:d

    def long_name(name1, name2):
      if len(name1) >= len(name2):
        return name1
      else:
        return name2

    This will return name1 if it is longer or as long as name 1 otherwise it returns name2.

    oh that makes it so much easier, just comparing the names and returning the name with bigger length, i dont know why i was overthinking it,
    Any ideas on the capitalizing the first letter of a word thats jumbled like "JoHn" and lowercasing the rest?
    im assuming youd do like .higher(0) and lower(?) idk im lost on that one

    Are you supposed to write these functions yourself or use built ins? The first one is a built in function ('title()').

    For the second one you can just compare the lengths and return the largest one. The length of a string s is just

    len(s)

    write these functions myself, its a practice problem im doing in a course so for long name i have this lol but i could be completely off

    def long_name(name_1, name_2):

    names = (name_1, name_2)

    for words in names:

  5. Starting a program in which ill need a laptop specifically for cyber security, only real necessary thing im told i need is at least 16gb of ram,
    im sort of on a budget so maybe around $1,000 usd, a little flexible on that, but preferably around that. All laptops I find around that price range with 16gb of ram have really bad reviews and i dont want to be stuck with something shitty. Any recommendations would be extremely appreciated, thank you !

    I think 6gb is enough for now.

    As most games still in 3-4gb average vram in 1080p.

    Just make sure you get high enough RAM capacity (16 is enough) if you wanna use more than 6gb vram.

    If the games uses more than 6gb vram, the rest will be moved to the RAM.

    8gb vram is usable today if you play 4k.

    Ahh so 2060 should suffice along side 16gb ram ? is there much difference between 2060 and 2070 in terms of performance vs price

    Yeah ryzen will handle simultaneous gaming & streaming much better, if you're looking to pair it with a b450 board the MSI pro carbon is probably the one you want, $95 for a 16GB kit of ddr4 3000MHz team vulcan ram, that leaves a $500 budget to decide if you want to replace the stock cooler and get a gpu... but I'd recommend an rtx 2060 over a vega 56 unless you've found yourself a sweet deal you could even get a 2070 if you stick with the stock cooler (AMD's stock coolers are actually good so it's really an option) here's a quick pcpartpicker list for ya

    PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
    Type Item Price
    CPU AMD - Ryzen 7 2700 3.2 GHz 8-Core Processor $249.89 @ OutletPC
    Motherboard MSI - B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC ATX AM4 Motherboard $139.99 @ B&H
    Memory Team - Vulcan 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $94.99 @ Newegg
      Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts
      Total $484.87

    Hmm would you reccommend getting a 2060 plus a new psu or just adding on a 2070 ? I dont mind using stock cooler tbh.
    Thanks for the help, appreciate it

  8. So essentially I built this PC mainly for gaming a while ago, and it seems to be crapping out on me. Constant GPU crashes, PSU failing, CPU struggling to manage stream + gaming workload, so I'm really looking to change essentially the CPU, Mobo, GPU, PSU, and maybe add ram since only 8gb and ddr3, budget I'm not really sure, maybe something around $1k USD, honestly open to most suggestions around that price range maybe even more, depends really. I was thinking a Ryzen 7 2700 + a vega 56, not sure tho what's best option. Here's my current build that I'm trying to upgrade, kinda wanna keep the case and SSD if I can as I'm trying to save as much as possible -

    Probably because he doesn't even know what those means -- enter through Computer Science (programming) and fiddle around there. You''ll get the hang of networks and the like.

    Thank you.

    And ye I know the names of languages, and have somewhat a basic understanding of entry level things. Like scripts, arrays, loops and such. I just dont know like which section is which. As in exploits, networking, spoofing things like that, hope you understand what im asking because i barely know what im asking

    If you want to learn about something, then be specific. All you have said in here is you want to learn everything about hacking. Nothing about saying how to use Python, C++, how to create batch files or anything like that... Be specific on what you want.. you are very general and vague.

    Instead of bashing from the start. Ask. It takes as much time to be negative as to be positive and just ask.

    If I knew what the specifics were I wouldve asked what I wanted to learn. Theres a reason I said "ethical hacking" and "not the negative side". Because clearly im not knowledgable on the topic and needed a place to start.

    I have no hate. But we do not help "hackers" with "Hacking" around here is all I am saying. I have read through the entire post. All you say is you want to learn hacking. You dont give any specifics other than hacking. We dislike hackers around here. If you want to learn to hack, go find a new hole to dig up in.

    "I don't mean hacking in the negative connotation"

    "I mean ethical hacking"

    "Nothing for bad"

    You are nobody to dictate what people want and like. "We dislike hackers" No YOU dislike hackers. And if you cant see past the ignorance that hacking is as positive as can be then leave the post. This is my post. You've done nothing but start argument because what?? You're bored?

    Im trying to learn. People are willing to teach. Bringing negativity is the only thing you're doing.

    We see threads like this everyday. @MartinWake was correct that we do not like these threads here. If you are interested in something, then be more specific than "hacking". This is a technology forum so thus Hacking to us is trying to do things with technology that is generally frowned upon.

    Read the replies?? I was specific enough and the post does not break community guidelines. If you dont like the context of the post, and it harms you and no one else in no way there is no reason for you to comment. Keep the hate to yourself.

    If you are serious all you will find on Youtube is script kiddy stuff. You either have to go to forums, shadier ones and look around. It will probably all look foreign but look up everything you don't know. But honestly you can only do so much with knowledge that is already out there. There is no book on how to hack. Like recently this year some kids found a HUGE UNIX exploit when instead of entering the password you just hit the space bar 13 times.

    Exactly youtube doesnt have anything im looking for. I want to learn and cant find any source.

    We dont teach about hacking around here. Its not what the LTT community is about. Even if you have no intentions to use it to be harmful, the methods CAN be used for harmful purposes and thus we unequivocally do not help with it here.

    And you are?????? This is programming section. Hacking can be anything. Life hacks, ethical hacking, anything can be harmful. Who are you to say what people want to teach?

    Only do it for ethical reasons as the US laws were written a long time ago so $15,000 of damage gets you 20 years in prison and a $100K fine. To put that in perspective. Mess up a companies file system and they loose $50,000 that day. If I were you do some bounty hunting. Google pays big money for bugs that you find and tell the about. Companies also pay people like this to test their security. Best way to learn. Trial and error. There is no boot on how to hack as it changes every day with patches and so on. Once you know the root of how computers function you can play around. But true hacking now days is just social engineering

    No of course just ethical. Thats what im trying to learn. Nothing for bad.

    I just wouldnt know how to get into it. Still dont. You say trial and error but how do I even try LMAO.

    Your prob gonna get hate on here

    Find exploits and use them to your advantage. Dick around until you find something the other guy didnt. I got admin rights on my school's network in a week, and it was down for several after. Why? Because I'm a dick.

    How tho my main question is how do you figure this stuff out?

  16. So since I was young, ive always enjoyed movies about cyber situations. Hacking, servers, ect.. And recently its been real annoying because I have no clue how to get into any of it. And I dont mean hacking as in the negative connotation that comes along it.

    I really just want to learn everything, its literally fascinating to me. Any ideas or anyone take me under their wing? I have a lot of free time so im willing to learn as hard as it may be.
