    Well that's a tough question.
I'm always a fan of building it yourself. I think it feels.....more special. But with the market the way it is now it might be a tiny bit cheaper to buy a pre-built if your going for value. But prices have stabilized a bit so you should be able to be fairly close either way.

If you do decide to build it yourself a few suggestions. #1 if your running short on cash you can always add the cablemod cables in later. no need to do it right away its an ascetic upgrade that can always be added. and #2 just skip the astros they are overrated. you can get a way better headset for the same price or one of similar quality for cheaper.

have you tried tweaking your 3D settings in you Nvidia/AMD control panel or checking for a driver update? Its very possible that could help with the problem you described.

I once set my PCs graphics settings to force best quality and ended up having a similar problem in a game that would run on a 10year old potato. It turns out my low res game I was playing did not like being forced to run at higher setting and it was causing me to be able to see the mesh. So simply changing my settings back to let the 3D application decide fixed it.

This is a rendering problem it has nothing to do with your monitor. I can mean you computer is having trouble rendering the game or it could just be a graphics setting needs to be changed. Either way an upgraded monitor won't fix this.
