    Upgrade Advice $750 budget

Hmm alright I didn’t consider an i9. Any recommendations on a 750w power supply?
  2. Somewhat of a repost but I’ve decided to up my budget a bit (500 to 750) so I’m wondering how that will change people’s opinions. I'm looking to upgrade my PC with about a $750 budget (USD). In another thread regarding some stuttering issues I've started to experience I've been informed that my CPU is probably bottlenecking my PC. So I'm definitely looking to get a new CPU but don't know if it would be worth getting a new motherboard as well so I can get a better CPU. These are my current specs: CPU: Intel i5-6500 @3.20GHz (stock cooler) RAM: 16 GB DDR4 2400MHz (4 x 4GB sticks) GPU: Sapphire Nitro Radeon R9 Fury 4GB Motherboard: MSI Z170A SLI Plus LGA 1151 PSU: Seasonic 550W 80+ Gold Storage: 250 GB SSD 2 1TB HDD I've been advised to pick up an Intel 7700k, 7700, 6700k, or 6700. I'm debating whether it makes more sense to pick up a new mother board so I can go with an 8700k instead rather than spending more money on the older 7700k. I'm not set in stone on an intel cpu either if there is an AMD processor that you think would be better. With my ~$750 budget in mind whats the best way I can spend my money to maximize my build? Should I get a cheaper upgraded cpu and put money in to something else instead? Thanks in advance!!

    What is "bottlenecking" my PC?

So you think sticking on the Intel route is my best bet?

    What is "bottlenecking" my PC?

I just like to have other "background noise" through loading screens and during more casual gaming sessions. GTA V loading screens seem to take forever and its nice to be able to check out a stream when I'm thirsted in Apex or what not. It's probably about time for an upgrade anyway though so you're right about solving two problems at once. I'll definitely try setting a higher priority in task manager though and see if that solves the issue. Thanks.

Alright, thanks. Any suggestions off the top of your head on an upgrade that will still fit my motherboard?

Alright, thanks. Maybe it's time for me to start looking for an upgrade then. Any suggestions?

    What is "bottlenecking" my PC?

When I don't have twitch open I don't experience the stuttering, but I'm trying to see what I can do to eliminate the problem when I do have twitch open. The stuttering doesn't happen with all other games I play but off the top of my head there are issues when I play GTA V and Apex Legends while watching a stream as well.
  9. Recently I've been getting some stuttering in my gaming experience among various games while watching a stream on my second monitor. It isn't constant and doesn't always happen. For example I have been playing Battlefield V and watching a twitch stream on my other monitor and the game will get hung up for a second or two and lag. I'm thinking maybe it is my graphics card which is why I am posting in this sub. My specs are as follows: CPU: Intel i5-6500 @3.20GHz RAM: 16 GB DDR4 2400MHz (4 x 4GB sticks) GPU: Sapphire Nitro Radeon R9 Fury 4GB Motherboard: MSI Z170A SLI Plus LGA 1151 PSU: Seasonic 550W 80+ Gold I'm not sure if there is somewhere I can look on my PC to see what could be causing this lag since the game doesn't fully crash or anything. Any help or advice is welcome and thank you in advance!

Thanks for the help everyone, just ordered the Fury.

    r9 Fury or r9 390x

I saw something that said 390x was better than fury for 1080p, do you know anything about that? They're both basically the same price with the sapphire nitro r9 fury at 350 and the MSI r9 390x at 325. @catzambia @Mi26

    r9 Fury or r9 390x

I made a post earlier today describing my situation with purchasing a GPU. In short I have a monitor with Freesync, so I'm bound to purchase an AMD GPU for my first PC. I'm getting tired of waiting for the rx480 to come in stock after first waiting for the reference cards for a month and then waiting for the aftermarket cards for another month. I just want to finally be able to play games like Fallout 4 and Overwatch in 1080p max settings. It was suggested to me to look into an r9 fury instead of the rx480 since it is faster anyway. In brief searches I found the sapphire nitro r9 fury and also the MSI r9 390x on newegg which both fit into my budget of around $350. The MSI card is currently on sale for $320 with the original being $425. What are your thoughts between these two cards? Is there a different brand you would suggest for either the r9 fury or the r9 390x? Thanks for any help and if you need to know the other specs of my PC let me know.

    AMD graphics cards??

Any brand in particular you'd recommend? @super_skank Also how do you think the Fury's will do in the near future? I'm not looking to have to upgrade GPU's all that often so in your opinion will this be able to at least provide an above average gaming experience for the next year or two?

    AMD graphics cards??

I'm in the US so I assumed I would at least see listings that say "out of stock" or "currently unavailable"

    AMD graphics cards??

That's what I thought as I've seen many youtuber reviews on them but when I go to the company websites for them they don't even have them listed
